A non-integrated type noise filter on a Coplanar Waveguide (CPW) transmission line is demonstrated by using a highly resistive $Co_{41}Fe_{38}Al_{13}O_8$ nanogranular thin film with the dimensions of $4\;mm (\iota)\times4\;mm(\omega)\times0.1\;{\mu}m(t)$. The noise suppression characteristics are evaluated without placing an insulating layer between the CPW line and the magnetic thin film. The insertion loss is very low being less than 0.3 dB and this low value is maintained up to 2 GHz. At a ferromagnetic resonance frequency of 3.3 GHz, the power loss is very large and the degree of noise attenuation is measured to be 3 dB. This level of noise attenuation is still small for real applications; however, considering the small magnetic volume used in this work, further improvement is expected by simply increasing the magnetic volume and by integrating the magnetic thin film into the CPW transmission line.

The wet brakes used in an industrial forklift often produce noise on braking. Elimination or reduction of this squeal noise is an important task for the improvement of comforts. In this paper, a test rig was developed which was possible for testing of brake noise and an experimental measurement on squeal noise was performed. The causes of the brake noise are identified by experimenting how the factors such as automatic transmission fluid, the groove of friction-plate pad and the material of friction-plate pad affect the squeal noise. In order to identify the squeal characteristics, the signal analyses for noise are performed by using frequency spectrums. Experimental results showed that the viscosity of automatic transmission fluid and the groove pattern of friction-plate pad largely affect the reduction of the wet brake squeal noise in an industrial forklift.

Construction equipment is heavily loaded during normal operation. In recent years, there is a trend that lower gear noise levels are demanded for drivers to avoid annoyance and fatigue during operation. For articulated hauler's final drive, meshing transmission error(T.E.) is the excitation that leads the tonal noise known as gear whine, and radiated gear whine is also the dominant source of noise in the whole gearbox. This paper presents a method for the analysis of the tooth profile modification, and the prediction of transmission error under the loaded torques for the spur gear pair of the articulated hauler's final drive. And the transmission error, transmission error harmonics and contact stress are also calculated and compared before and after tooth modification under one torque. The simulation result shows that the transmission error and contact stress under the loads can be minimized by the appropriate tooth profile modification.

In order to reduce the noise and oscillation, it is consider a matter in all aspects about the noise stem from accumulator and the characteristic of transmission, Transformation of outside shape has change of noise occurrence at transmission process. Therefore, performed sound numerical analysis and conducted an experiment to examine the birthplace of accumulator's external shape change. In a sound numerical analysis, we can fond out transmission loss between inlet and outlet's sound pressure. In an experiment, we can make out transmission loss by sound wave separation theory through drawing sound pressure inlet and outlet.
The data transmission system in MAGLEV is required a high quality and high speed for a train safety and reliability driving. In the transmission channel between a vehicle and a ground-site, Gaussian noise is negligible, but impulse noise from the chopper controlled propulsoin unit and the Power supplying device is very severe. The transmission channel must be protected from these noise. In this paper, we propose a DSSS (direct-sequence spread spectrum) modulation as a new data transmission technique in the railway and analyze this data transmission characteristics.

Helmholtz resonator has been used, especially in intake and exhaust systems of vehicles, due to its good noise reduction characteristics at low frequencies. Many approaches have been developed to predict the acoustic behavior of the resonator with the assumption that there is no leakage from the resonator. However, its behavior may be affected by leakage which may exist in manufacturing processes or on purpose. This study investigates the effect of leakage on the noise reduction characteristics of Helmholtz resonator with two practical examples. One is a resonator with a gap between baffle and housing of the resonator and the other one is a resonator with two drain holes on the baffle. The measured transmission loss shows that the resonance frequencies are considerably shifted to higher frequency due to the leakage. The Boundary Element Method was applied to predict the transmission loss of the Helmholtz resonator with drain holes. The comparison between the measured and predicted transmission loss shows that the acoustic impedance of the holes is essential for accurate predictions of the transmission loss.

When predicting shipboard noise levees, the accuracy depends largely on the value of the structureborne noise transmission loss. Although empirical formulars are frequently used because of their simplicities, researches on the analytical methods to estimate the transmission loss of structureborne noise such as wave guide theory and SEA has long bean one of the major topics in shipboard acoustics to overcome the inherent limiations of empirical ones. This paper describes an application of SEA to predict the transmission loss of the structureborne noise of a simple shiplike structural mode1 consisted of 22 flats plates. The result shows trial discrepancies between experimental and theoretical transmission losses are less than 3 dB.
Si-based electromagnetic noise suppressors on coplanar waveguide transmission lines incorporated with a $SiO_2$ dielectric layer and a nanogranular Co-Fe-Al-O magnetic thin film are reported. Unlike glass-based devices, large signal attenuation is observed even in the bare structure without coating the magnetic thin film. Much larger signal attenuation is achieved in fully integrated devices. The transmission scattering parameter ($S_{21}$) is as small as -90 dB at 20 GHz at the following device dimensions; the thicknesses of the $SiO_2$ and Co-Fe-Al-O thin films are 0.1 $\mu$m and 1 $\mu$m, respectively, the length of the transmission line is 15 mm, and the width of the magnetic thin film is 2000 $\mu$m. In all cases, the reflection scattering parameter ($S_{11}$) is below -10 dB over the whole frequency band. Additional distributed capacitance formed by the Cu transmission line/$SiO_2$/Si substrate is responsible for these characteristics. It is considered that the present noise suppressors based on the Si substrate are a first important step to the realization of MMIC noise suppressors.

Enclosures are widely used to alleviate the contribution of machinery noise. It has been long concerned with the noise transmission through the access openings of the enclosures. In this study, we investigate active noise control technology for reduction of the transmission. A numerical model based on the acoustic boundary element method is first established. Using the numerical model, the acoustic transfer functions of the field points over the opening to the primary source at arbitrary locations are estimated. The feedforward control to minimize the acoustic power through the opening is then numerically implemented. The controller drives the secondary source to destructively interfere the noise transmission through the opening. Finally, a parametric study is conducted to evaluate the effects of the location and the number of the microphones on the control performance. Furthermore, the effects of the location of the secondary source on the performance of active noise control are investigated. It is followed that the control system implemented in this study leads to a significant reduction of about 31.5 dB in the sound power through the opening using only one secondary source located at the optimized position.

Unit cabin means room, which is installed in the high value-added vessel such as drill ship, offshore platform and FPSO, after pre-assembled. In order to develop the noise control design for a unit cabin, a variety of acoustic tests such as sound absorption, transmission and radiation measurements were carried out by using the deckhouse mock-up. From the tests, it was found out that the sound transmission loss between cabin and corridor was 13 dB below than FPSO standard and the combined noise level of the unit cabin was dominated by the radiated noise from wall panel in low frequency range. Based on the test results, design guidelines for the noise control of the unit cabin were fully established, such as the improvement of sound transmission loss between the cabin and corridor, and radiated cabin noise reduction.
