  • In this study, we carried out to evaluate the shock-proof of a large scale motor for the naval vessel using dynamic design analysis method (DDAM) and full transient dynamic analysis. Analytical models for main assemblies (motor frame, rotor and stator assembly) were consisted of the tetrahedral solid elements and the equipments which installed in the upper side of the motor were substituted the mass elements. And we also modelled resilient mounts of a motor using the beam elements with appropriate directional stiffness. The DDAM was conducted according to NRL memorandum report 1396 and the full transient dynamic analysis was performed applying directional triple half triangle shock wave to the motor using ANSYS 12. As a result, we could compare of the results according to each analytic method and find the motor to satisfy the design criteria of the maximum stress and deformation.

  • The cool-down performance after soaking is very important in an automotive air-conditioning system and is considered as the key design variable. Therefore, understanding of the overall transient characteristics of the system is essential to the preliminary design as well as steady-state characteristics. The objective of this study is to develop a computer simulation model and estimate theoretical1y the transient performance of an automotive air-conditioning system. To accomplish this, a mathematical modelling of each component, such as compressor, condenser, expansion valve, and evaporator, is presented first of all. For a detailed calculation, condenser and evaporator are divided into many subsections. Each sub-section is an elemental volume for modelling. In models of expansion valve and compressor, dynamic behaviors are not considered in an attempt to simplify the ana1ysis, but the quasi-static ones are just considered, such as the relation between mass flow rate and pressure drop in expansion device, polytropic process in compressor, etc. The developed simulation model is validated with a comparison to laboratory test data of an automotive air-conditioning system. The overall time-tracing properties of each component agreed fairly well wish those of test data in this case.

  • This paper has proposed the modelling by simulation in order to evaluate the performance of process through discrete event simulation using SIMAN language in flexible manufacturing systems. The production system is assumed to be a job shop type of system under the batch production of discrete products. In this paper, the input data is the workstation(process) time, the number of workstation(process), a probability distribution, the number of simulation runs. Also, transient period is considered. In the case study, this paper deals with three products in real flexible manufacturing systems. Finally, a number of simulation runs were executed under different experimental conditions to obtain preliminary statistics on the following performance measures: operating rate of facility and average system operating rate, transient period, central processing unit, average system throughput, and average waiting time in queues.

  • The availability of the weapon system can be analyzed through state modeling and simulation using the Markov process. In this paper, show how to analyze the availability of the weapon system and can use the Markov process to analyze the system's steady state as well as the RAM at a transient state in time. As a result of the availability analysis of tracked vehicles, the inherent availability was 2.6% and the operational availability was 1.2% The validity criterion was defined as the case where the difference was within 3%, and thus it was judged to be valid. We have identified the faulty items through graphs of the number of visits per state among the results obtained through the MPS and can use them to provide design alternatives.

  • Some studies have shown that unstable factors are inherent in WEDM process, causing the instability of the discharging pulse to reach about 40∼60% in normal machining. Transient stability is an important subject in WEDM process since there is a close relationship between stability and machining performance, such as the characteristics of a machined surface, machining speed and problem of instability like wire rupture phenomenon. Among the many machining parameters affecting WEDM machining state, three specific parameters (Vr, Ip, off time ) are major controllable variables that can be applied in transient stability control. And, this research investigates the implementation and analysis of real-time micro control of the discharging stability of WEDM (Wire Electric Discharge Machining) process.

  • A design of PI controller to be used to control the first-order lag plus dead time process, such as a flow process, by the coefficient diagram method (CDM) is investigated. The factor of the dead time of process is first approximated to be the first-order by the Pade approximation. The response of the flow control system designed by CDM satisfy both transient and steady state specifications. However, the transient response generally still has long rise time. In order to improve the speed of the system response, a feedforward controller (FFC) is added into the PI control system. The structure of the FFC is a phase lead structure with two designed parameters and one derivative time obtained from the reaction curve of the flow process ...

  • Design of an in-process feedback control system has been studied for precision grinding. A grinding system consists of a grinding tool, a turn table and a disk-shaped workpiece on the table is taken as an object. A grinding process model has been deduced which gives some reasoning about the process errors. In the control system the tool position is actively controlled by an electro-magnetic actuator in-process. The ground error is feedback to compose a closed-loop control system and an optimal PID controller is applied. Some control performances such as transient response and disturbance such as transient response and disturbance attenuation have been examined, which convinces the effectiveness of the control. Some methods for implementation of the control. Some methods for implementation of the control have been suggested from a standpoint of practical application.

  • Recently, load/unload(L/UL) process is applied to a computer information storage device due to its advantages such as lower power consumption, larger data zone, simpler fabrication of disk for no bumped parking zone, and rarer contact between the slider and media. An analysis of the transient motion for the slider is very important to design an air bearing surface (ABS) of the slider to secure the stable performance of the system. During the L/UL process, however, there are several issues occurred such as contact or collision between slider and media. Sometimes this will cause the system failure. In this study, the dynamics of the slider during the loading process are investigated through a numerical simulation using FEM analysis and experiment.

  • This paper is to provide an analysis of the aspectual nature of naked infinitives(NIs) of English perceptual reports. Higginbotham(1983) proposes that only ‘active’ or ‘transient’ verbs can be used as NIs of English perceptual reports, but ‘state’ verbs cannot. This is called “confinement to the active or transient”. But there will be one problem when NIs of English perceptual reports are negatives. This is why the meaning of negative NIs of English perceptual reports may be static, which isn't in line with “confinement to the active or transient”. There are similar problems with ‘state’ NIs of English perceptual reports. In this paper some of these problems can be solved with the “Event Structure” of Pustejovsky(1991). According to Pustejovsky(1991), ‘process’ and ‘transition’ verbs have sub-eventual individuation units, but state verbs have no such units. It is the units that make it possible for ‘process’ and ‘transition’ to be perceived. As a result ‘process’ and ‘transition’ verbs are suitable for NIs of English perceptual reports. Nevertheless, there are still some problems unsolved. Moreover some state verbs are grammatically used as NIs of English perceptual reports. This paper proposes that these state verbs have “potentiality of transition”, and the potentiality comes from only the combination of the two parts of the complement - the subject and the naked infinitive. And the potentiality causes the “Event Structure” of Pustejovsky(1991) to be modified. And this modification makes it possible for us to explain aspect of NIs of English Perceptual Reports. It is concluded with some implication for Korean learners of English as a Foreign Language.

  • The photodynamics of excited-state intramolecular proton transfer reaction of 1-hydroxyanthraquinone (1-HAQ) and 1-deuterioanthraquinone was investigated in toluene with time-resolved emission and femtosecond transient transmittance techniques at room temperature. The temporal profiles of transient transmittance of 1-HAQ could be well described with multi-decaying time constants. The ultrafast time constant within ca. 260 fs reflects the dynamics of proton transfer. The decay component of 2 ps is assigned to an additional proton translocation process induced by the intramolecular vibrational relaxation, whereas the decay component of 18 ps is assigned to the vibrational cooling process, while the long component (200 ps) can be explained in terms of the relaxation from excited-state keto-tautomer to its ground state. Time-resolved anisotropy decay dynamics and isotope effects on the photodynamics reveals that the ESIPT from enol-tautomer to keto-one of 1-HAQ is barrierless reaction and coupled to a vibrational relaxation process.
