수중에 잠긴 접지전극 주변에서의 이온화에 의한 전위저감 및 에너지방출 (Potential Reduction and Energy Dispersion Due to Ionization Around the Submerged Ground Rod)

  • 심매설 접지봉의 경우 장마철에 빗물이나 지하수와 접촉하는 경우가 발생한다. 수중에 잠겨있는 접지극에 서지 전압이 인가되면 접지극 주변에서 이온화 현상이 발생하게 된다. 지중이나 수중에서의 이온화 현상은 접지 시스템의 에너지적인 특성에 의해 영향을 받는다. 이 논문의 목적은 축소된 전해 수조를 이용하여 임펄스 전압에 의한 접지시스템의 과도특성을 파악하는데 있다. 매틀랩 프로그램을 활용하여 이온화에 의한 전위저감과 방출된 에너지를 측정하여 정량적인 분석을 수행하였다. 접지극 끝단의 최대 전압은 물의 저항률과 Marx형 전압발생장치의 충전전압에 따라 다양하게 나타났다. 접지극 끝단의 전위는 절연파괴전압에 이르기 전 인가전압에서 대략 절반까지 감소하였다. 또한 절연파괴가 발생하기 전 인가된 에너지의 절반 이상의 에너지가 이온화에 의해 접지극을 통하여 방출되었다.

  • 분산진원으로서 연료전지 발전장치는 100w부터 수백[kw]의 용량을 가지며 종전의 대규모 전력설비와 비교하여 높은 신뢰도를 갖는 고품질의 전력을 공급할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 소형 분산전원으로서 PEMFC(polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell)연료전지 발전장치에 대한 PSIM(power electronics simulation tool) 모델을 설정하고 이를 바탕으로 DSP(digital signal processor)기반의 연료전지 하드웨어 시뮬레이터를 구현하였다. 연료전지 전류와 출력전압과의 관계는 연료전지의 전압-전류(V-I) 곡선 중 ohmic영역에서 1차 함수로 간략화 하였다. 구현된 시스템은 PEMFC 하드웨어 시뮬레이터, 절연형 풀 브리지 직류 부스트 컨버터 그리고 60[Hz] PWM인버터로 구성되어있다. 부하변동 및 과도상태에 대한 연료전지 하드웨어 시뮬레이터의 전압-전류-전력(V-I-P) 특성을 파악하였으며, 저항 부하 및 비선형 부하에 대한 전력변환기의 60[Hz] 정현파 교류출력 전압파형을 고찰하였다.

머플 가열로에서의 대면적 유리기판의 가열공정에 대한 열적 연구 (HEAT-TREATMENT OF LARGE-SCALE GLASS BACKPLANES IN A MUFFLE FURNACE)

  • Current display manufacturing processes apply thermal treatment of glass backplanes widely for hydrogen degassing, crystallization of thin-films, tempering, forming, and precompaction. Estimation of the characteristics of transient heating stages and thermal non-uniformities on a single glass substrate or in a stack of glasses are extremely helpful to understand non-homogeneity of mechanical and electronic features of nano/micro structures of end products. Based on simple heat transfer models and using an electric muffle furnace, temperature variations in a glass stack were predicted and measured for glass backplanes of $1.5{\times}1.85m^2$ in size and 0.7 mm in thickness. Except for the period of putting glass backplanes into the furnace, thermal radiation was the major heating mechanism for the treatment and theoretical predictions agreed well to the experimental temperatures on the backplanes. Using the theoretical model, thermal fields for a glass stack of glass-size, $2.2{\times}2.5m^2$, and of the number of sheets, 1 to 12, were calculated for practical design and manufacturing of the muffle furnace for large-scale displays, e.g. up to $8^{th}$ generation.

냉각수 순환 방식 가열원 형상에 따른 요소수 해동 특성에 관한 수치적 연구 (Numerical Investigation of the Urea Melting and Heat Transfer Characteristics with Three Different Types of Coolant Heaters)

  • Urea-SCR system, which converts nitrogen oxides to nitrogen and water in the presence of a reducing agent, usually AdBlue urea solution, is known as one of the powerful NOx reduction systems for mobile as well as stationary applications. For its consistent and reliable operation in mobile applications, such various problems as transient injection, ammonia slip, and freezing in cold weather have to be resolved. In this work, therefore, numerical study on three-dimensional unsteady heating problems were analyzed to understand the melting and heat transfer characteristics such as urea liquid volume fraction, temperature profiles and generated natural convection behavior in urea solution by using the commercial software Fluent 6.3. After validating by comparing numerical and experimental data with pure gallium melting phenomena, numerical experiment for urea melting is conducted with three different coolant heating models named CH1, 2, and 3, respectively. Finally, it can be found that the CH3 model, in which more coolant is concentrated on the lower part of the urea tank, has relatively better melting capability than others in terms of urea quantity of $1{\ell}$ for start-up schedule.

냉각수온 변화가 가솔린 차량의 연비 및 배출가스에 미치는 영향에 관한 실험 및 수치적 평가 (Experimental and Numerical Assessment of the Effects of Various Coolant Temperature in Gasoline Vehicle on Fuel Consumption and Emissions)

  • One of the major engine thermal management system(TMS) strategies for improving fuel economy is to operate the engine in high temperatures. Therefore, this work performed a numerical and experimental study to examine the effect of several different STOs(Starting Temperature of Opening) of wax-thermostat, ranging from $85^{\circ}C$ to $105^{\circ}C$, of gasoline engine on fuel economy and emission characteristics. In this study, a gasoline car equipped with waxthermostat was tested and simulated under FTP-75 and HWFET mode. CRUISE $M^{TM}$ was used to simulate vehicle dynamics, transient engine performance and TMS. The test results showed fuel savings for both drive cycles due to higher STO of $100^{\circ}C$, which is slightly worse than that of $90^{\circ}C$ and amounts between 0.34 and 0.475 %. These controversial results are attributed to experimental errors and uncertainty. The computational results for three STOs, $85^{\circ}C$, $95^{\circ}C$ and $105^{\circ}C$, showed that fuel savings attributed to the application of higher STOs of $95^{\circ}C$ and $105^{\circ}C$ are relatively small and range from 0.306 to 0.363 %. It is also found that the amount of HC and CO emissions from the tailpipe tends to decrease with higher engine coolant temperature because of faster catalyst light-off and improved combustion.

Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent regulation of polycystic kidney disease 2-like-1 by binding at C-terminal domain

  • Polycystic kidney disease 2-like-1 (PKD2L1), also known as polycystin-L or TRPP3, is a non-selective cation channel that regulates intracellular calcium concentration. Calmodulin (CaM) is a calcium binding protein, consisting of N-lobe and C-lobe with two calcium binding EF-hands in each lobe. In previous study, we confirmed that CaM is associated with desensitization of PKD2L1 and that CaM N-lobe and PKD2L1 EF-hand specifically are involved. However, the CaM-binding domain (CaMBD) and its inhibitory mechanism of PKD2L1 have not been identified. In order to identify CaM-binding anchor residue of PKD2L1, single mutants of putative CaMBD and EF-hand deletion mutants were generated. The current changes of the mutants were recorded with whole-cell patch clamp. The calmidazolium (CMZ), a calmodulin inhibitor, was used under different concentrations of intracellular. Among the mutants that showed similar or higher basal currents with that of the PKD2L1 wild type, L593A showed little change in current induced by CMZ. Co-expression of L593A with CaM attenuated the inhibitory effect of PKD2L1 by CaM. In the previous study it was inferred that CaM C-lobe inhibits channels by binding to PKD2L1 at 16 nM calcium concentration and CaM N-lobe at 100 nM. Based on the results at 16 nM calcium concentration condition, this study suggests that CaM C-lobe binds to Leu-593, which can be a CaM C-lobe anchor residue, to regulate channel activity. Taken together, our results provide a model for the regulation of PKD2L1 channel activity by CaM.

HAI 제어기반 SV PWM 방식을 이용하나 IPMSM의 고성능 제어 (High Performance Control of IPMSM using SV-PWM Method Based on HAI Controller)

  • 본 논문에서는 HAI(Hybrid Artificial Intelligent) 제어기반의 SV PWM 방식을 이용한 IPMSM의 고성능 제어를 제시한다. HAI 제어기는 적응 퍼지제어 및 신경회로망의 장점을 혼합 적용한다. SV PWM 방식은 지금까지 산업용 전동기 제어분야에 적용되고 있고 출력전류의 고조파 비율, 스위칭 주파수 및 응답특성을 향상시키는 수 있는 기법이다. HAI 제어기는 지령전압을 계산할 때 발생되는 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 종래의 PI 제어기를 대체하여 사용한다. HAI 제어기는 지령모델 기반의 적응제어, 퍼지제어 및 신경회로망으로 구성되어 속도 성능을 개선한다. 본 논문에서는 제시한 HAI 제어기를 적용하여 파라미터 변동, 정상상태 및 과도상태 등의 응답특성을 분석하고 종래의 FNN 제어기 및 PI 제어기의 응답특성과 비교한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 HAI 제어기의 타당성을 입증한다.

Systemic Analysis of a Novel Coxsackievirus Gene Delivery System in a Mouse Model

  • In order to systemically investigate the possibility of using coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3) to deliver foreign genes in vivo, a recombinant strain of CVB3 encoding the renilla gene (CVB3-renilla) was constructed. The recombinant CVB3 resulted in extensive and transient expression of the renilla protein within mouse organs, especially the pancreas. The level of expression was generally dependent upon the viral titer present. Moreover, the CVB3-renilla strain was completely attenuated. Interestingly, the recombinant CVB3 vector was expressed much more strongly in mouse organs than was a comparable adenoviral vector. The CVB3-renilla strain did not express the renilla gene in mice with pre-existing coxsackievirus-specific neutralizing antibodies, but direct organ-specific administration of the virus during open-peritoneum surgery was able to circumvent this immunity. This coxsackievirus vector may represent a useful means for delivering and expressing foreign genes in mouse models in an acute and extensive fashion.

  • Hybrid powertrain systems have been developed to improve the fuel efficiency of internal combustion engines. In the case of a parallel hybrid powertrain system, an engine and a motor are directly coupled. Because of the hardware configuration of the parallel hybrid system, friction and the pumping losses of internal combustion engines always exists. Such losses are the primary factors that result in the deterioration of fuel efficiency in the parallel-type hybrid powertrain system. In particular, the engine operates as a power consumption device during the fuel-cut condition. In order to improve the fuel efficiency for the parallel-type hybrid system, cylinder deactivation (CDA) technology was developed. Cylinder deactivation technology can improve fuel efficiency by reducing pumping losses during the fuel-cut driving condition. In a CDA engine, there are two operating modes: a CDA mode and an SI mode according to the vehicle operating condition. However, during the mode change from CDA to SI, a serious fluctuation of the air-fuel ratio can occur without adequate control. In this study, an air-fuel ratio control algorithm during the mode transition from CDA to SI was proposed. The control algorithm was developed based on the mean value CDA engine model. Finally, the performance of the control algorithm was validated by various engine experiments.

Tumor Necrosis Factor-Related Apoptosis-Inducing Ligand Activates Pro-Survival Signaling Pathways, Nuclear Factor-${\kappa}B$ and Extracellular Signal-Regulated Kinase 1/2 in Trophoblast Cell Line, JEG-3

  • Tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis inducing ligand (TRAIL) is a well-known inducer of apoptotic cell death in many tumor cells. 1RAIL is expressed in human placenta, and cytotrophoblast cells express 1RAIL receptors. However, the role of TRAIL in human placentas and cytotrophoblast cells is not. well understood. In this study a trophoblast cell line, JEG-3, was used as a model system to examine the effect of TRAIL. on key intracellular signaling pathways involved in the control of trophoblastic cell apoptosis and survival JEG-3 cells expressed receptors for 1RAIL, death receptor (DR) 4, DR5, decoy receptor (OcR) 1 and DeR2. Recombinant human TRAIL (rhTRAIL) did not have a cytotoxic effect determined by MIT assay and did not induce apoptotic cell death determined by poly-(ADP-ribose) polymerase cleavage assay. rhTRAIL induced a rapid and transient nuclear translocation of nuclear $factor-{\kappa}B(NF-{\kappa}B)$ determined by immunoblotting using nuclear protein extracts. rhTRAIL rapidly activated extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase (ERK) 1/2 as determined by immnoblotting for phospho-ERK1/2. However, c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK), p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38MAPK) and Akt (protein kinase B) were not activated by rhTRAIL. The ability of 1RAIL to induce $NF-{\kappa}B$ and ERK1/2 suggests that interaction between TRAIL and its receptors may play an important role in trophoblast cell function during pregnancy.
