  • Lots of EDI-VAN companies are in need of transforming their business transaction systems into Web-based e-Business frameworks because of high cost and closed structure of EDI systems. This research proposes several e-Transformation strategies for EDI-VAN companies to adopt Web-based e-Business frameworks such as ebXML and RosettaNet. Four transformation alternatives are presented and transformation procedure for a medium-sized company is described. The result of this work can be used as a practical guideline for EDI companies to develop their own transformation strategy suitable to its scale and capability, while minimizing the impacts on the pre-existing business processes and information systems.

  • This paper investigates the application, design and implementation of unscented Kalman filter observer using the various scaling parameters for the sensorless speed control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The principles of unscented transformation and unscented Kalman filter are examined and their applications are explained. Typically the mapping transformation process is divided into two types, namely the basic unscented transformation and the general unscented transformation by virtue of the scaling parameter value. And resultantly, the number of sampling points, weights, code configuration and computation time are different. But there is no little information on the scaling parameter value or how this value influences the system performance. To analyze the unscented transformation with the various scaling parameters in this study, the experimental results under a wide range of operation condition have been demonstrated.

  • The optimum conditions and mechanisms for the plasmid-mediated genetic transformation of intact cells of Bacillus brevis Pl76-2, an extracellular protein producing bacterium by electroporation were investigated. It was found that pUB110 Plasmid DNA can be introduced into intact bacterial cells by electroporation. The frequency of transformation by this electroporation system depended upon the initial electric field strength, the capacity of the electric discharge capacitor, growth stage, number of successive pulses and composition of electroporation buffer. It was effective for transformation that cells were harvested, washed and resuspended with HSM [7M HEPES(PH 7.4), 272mM sucrose, 1 mM MgCl2] electroporation buffer when cell growth was attained to 1.2 at OD660. A maximum frequency of transformation of 2.40$\times$104 transformants per$\mu$g plasmid DNA was obtained by two succesive Pulses with an initial electric field strength of 12.5kV/cm and with a capacitance of 7.3uF.

  • Continuous cooling transformation behaviors were studied fur low carbon HSLA steels containing three different level $(1\~3\;wt\%)$ of Ni addition. Thermo-mechanical processing (TMP) simulations to construct continuous cooling (CCT) diagram were conducted by using Gleeble system. As cooling rate increased, pearlite, granular bainite, acicular ferrite, bainitic ferrite and lath martensite were transformed from deformed austenite. Fully bainitic microstructure were developed at all cooling rate condition in high Ni containing steel due to hardenability increasing effects of Ni. Ni also influenced the transformation kinetics. At the slowest cooling rate of $0.3^{\circ}C/s$, transformation delayed with decreasing Ni contents because of the diffusion of substitutional alloy elements. However, cooling rate slightly increased to $1^{\circ}C/s$, transformation kinetics accelerated with decreasing Ni contents because nucleation of bainite was sluggish due to hardening of residual austenite.

  • An efficient method for Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of forage crop alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) was established using secondary somatic embryogenic calli. Agrobacterium tumefaciens strain EHAlOl and a binary vector pIG121-Hm which has selection markers for kanamycin and hygromycin have been shown to be an efticient materials for alfalfa transformation. The secondary somatic embryogenic calli originated from hypocotyl explants of alfalfa were efficient infection materials for Agrobacterium EHAlOl and normally germinated into plantlets. The introduced gene (GUS) was constitutively expressed in all tissues of transgenic alfalfa with different expression levels. These results indicate that the use of pIG121-Hm vector, Agrobacterium EHAlOl and improved culture system of callus facilitate the transformation of alfalfa. • In this paper, the induction motor rotor fault diagnosis system using current signals, which are measured using axis-transformation method, and speed, which is estimated using current information, are presented. In inverter-fed motor drives unlike line-driven motor drives the stator currents have numerous harmonics components and therefore fault diagnosis using stator currents is very difficult. The current and speed signal for rotor fault diagnosis needs to be precise. Also, high resolution information, which means the diagnosis system, demands additional hardware such as low pass filter, high resolution ADC, encoder and etc. Therefore, the proposed axis-transformation and speed estimation method are expected to contribute to low cost fault diagnosis systems in inverter-fed motor drives without the need for an encoder and any additional hardware. In order to confirm validity of the developed algorithms, various experiments for rotor faults are tested and the line current spectrum of each faulty situation using Park transformation and speed estimation method are compared with the results obtained from fast Fourier transforms.

  • This Paper presents the 3D wavelet transformation based video compression system, which possesses the capability of progressive transmission by increasing resolution and increasing rate for multimedia applications. The 3D wavelet packet based video compression system removes the temporal correlation of the input sequences using the motion compensation filter and decomposes the spatio-temporal subband using the spatial wavelet packet transformation. The proposed system allocates the higher bit rate to the low frequency image of the 3D wavelet sequences and improves the 0.49dB PSNR performance of the reconstructed image in comparison with that of H.263. In addition to the limitation on the propagation of the motion compensation error by the 3D wavelet transformation, the proposed system progressively transmits the input sequence according to the resolution and rate scalability.

  • This paper focuses on the idea development as a creative thinking process for design innovation. The process of thinking has the thinking structures of abduction and transformation. After we had studied the design thought, we found a structure of a thinking system, and created a creative thinking model with this. Using job analysis, we examined the duster of design jobs, which form the design process, and verified the thinking model. The findings suggest that our idea development has the creative process not only of divergent thinking and convergent one, but also of transformation in design. In same time, the design thinking shows their pattern of transition from abstract concept to concrete object. Between the design jobs, idea development shows higher difficulty than other jobs - marketing, product planning and follow-up. Combining the D-T-C (Divergent-Transformation-Convergent) thinking with abstract-concrete thinking, we designed a DFD(data flow diagram) for an early model of computer mediated thinking system (CMTS). This has implications for design support.

  • Currently, the genetic modification of Aspergillus oryzae is mainly dependent on protoplast-mediated transformation (PMT). In this study, we established a dual selection marker system in an industrial A. oryzae 3.042 strain by using Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation (ATMT). We first constructed a uridine/uracil auxotrophic A. oryzae 3.042 strain and a pyrithiamine (PT)-resistance binary vector. Then, we established the ATMT system by using uridine/uracil auxotrophy and PT-resistance genes as selection markers. Finally, a dual selection marker ATMT system was developed. This study demonstrates a useful dual selection marker transformation system for genetic manipulations of A. oryzae 3.042.

  • Seven techniques widely used in the geodetic transformations have been reviewed and compared to figure out their theoretical characteristics. A series of numerical tests were performed about four data sets. This was followed by result analyses in terms of transformation residuals and accuracies together with some hypothesis testings based on the student-t distribution to confirm the statistical significance of the techniques. In the case of the transformation between the geodetic frames implemented in the same system, no statistical significance was revealed in the results of the 3D transformation techniques, even if the testing area becomes large as the Asia-Oceania continent. Among the 2D transformations, it was possible for the NTv2 grid modeling technique to deliver improved transformation accuracy. Finally, it was possible from the results analyzed in this study to propose the Helmert transformation to geodetic control points and the NTv2 technique to the 2D spatial data transformation of the geodetic systems.
