  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze cost-effectiveness of a train simulators. The cost-effectiveness of training program is assessed by multiplying transfer effectiveness ration(TER) by training cost ration(TCR). If their product is less than one, the program is not cost effective. Even if a program is not cost effective, however, safety considerations may be important to consider.

  • An experimental study has been conducted to measure the local film-cooling effectiveness and the heat transfer coefficient for a single row of rectangular-shaped holes. four different cooling hole shapes such ai a straight rectangular hole, a rectangular hole with laterally expanded exit, a circular hole and a two-dimensional slot are tested. A technique using thermochromic liquid crystals determine adiabatic film cooling effectiveness values and heat transfer coefficients on the test surface. Both film cooling effectiveness and heat transfer coefficient are measured for various blowing rates and compared with the results of the cylindrical ho1es and the two-dimensional slot. The flow patterns downstream of holes are calculated numerically using a cummercial package. The results show that the rectangular hopes provide better peformance than the cylindrical holes. For the rectangular holes with expanded exit, the penetration is reduced significantly, and the higher and more uniform cooling Peformance is obtained even at relatively high blowing rates.

  • Development on non-destructive testing methods were performed to evaluate the effectiveness of crack repair for test beams induced a crack. Cracked beams are repaired with expoxy and microcement, and then they are tested by two methods, the ultrasonic pulse velocity method and the transfer function method. It is proved that the ultrasonic pulse velocity method is very valid for the evaluation of the effectiveness on expoxy repair, and the transfer function method is very applicable to evaluate the effectiveness on microcement repair.

  • Our study is trying to investigate the perceived training effectiveness by applying the theory of planned behavior (TPB) and Technological Acceptance Model (TAM) and intend to examine the effects of individual differences on perceived training effectiveness and performance of individuals. The main purpose is to evaluate the perceived training effectiveness, and role of individual differences in terms of learning. The results of this study supported all the hypothesis that participants with higher level of creative self-efficacy, intrinsic motivation, creativity and emotional intelligence (EI) will have greater inclinations to learn. Results showed that perceive training effectiveness is positively related to training transfer and training transfer increase the performance of individuals. Study results significantly agree with the theory of planned behavior (TPB) which was applied to measure the perceived training effectiveness and suggest trainee's perception of usefulness, ease and benefits enhance learning dimensions of participants that make any program effective. The study has highlighted a number of issues that influence the perceived training effectiveness.

  • The heat transfer and flow characteristics of gas turbine blade tip were investigated in this paper by using the conjugate heat transfer analysis. The rotor inlet boundary condition profile which was taken from the first stage nozzle outlet was used to analyse. The profile contained the velocity and temperature information. This study presents the influence of tip clearance about aerodynamic loss, heat transfer coefficient and film cooling effectiveness with the squealer tip designed blade model which tip clearance variation range from 1% to 2.5% of span. Results showed that the aerodynamic loss and the heat transfer coefficient were increased when the tip clearance was increased. Especially when the tip clearance was 2% of the span, the average heat transfer coefficient on the tip region was increased obviously. The film cooling effectiveness of tip region was increasing with decreasing of the tip clearance. There was high film cooling effectiveness at cavity and near tip hole region.

  • This study aims to identify factors to the effectiveness of librarians' continuing education, which is regarded as learning transfer, and to examine the relationship between the effectiveness and the factors identified. Learning transfer is defined as an intention to apply the lessons learned in the education to the learner's practice. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate continuing education experiences of university librarians. Findings indicate that characteristics of individual librarians, educational program, and organizational environment have to be taken into consideration to manage librarians' continuing education effectively. Therefore, it is suggested that the university library as an organization should control pre- and post-activities of continuing librarians' education at the library in order to maximize the learning transfer as the effectiveness of the education. Suggestions are developed with factors to the learning transfer to improve the effectiveness.

  • Diazotized chitin(CHITN) as supports of immobilized enzyme, which was obtained by alkaline hydrolysed chitin with NaN3 and HCI was employed to produce CHITN-Gase with glutaraldehyde as bifunctional reagent. Activities of CHITN-Gase were determined with reaction of p-nitro-pheol-$\beta$-D-glucopyranoside(PNG) in plug flow reactor as a reference of CHITA-Gase. Their optimum temperature, pH, Km and Vmax, mass transfer coefficient (h), effctiveness factor(η)were plotted with variation of flow rate and H/D. Mass transfer coefficient(h) of those enzymes increased because of their flux, as flow rates were increased and controlled by reaction rate. Effectiveness factor(η) of both enzymes were nearly 1.0.

  • The effectiveness of the regenerator pertaining to Stirling cycle machines is studied by analyzing the heat transfer characteristics of the oscillating flow in a tube, and a new consistent definition of the regenerator effectiveness can be expressed by the ratio of the heat transfer in axial direction (Q$\_$axial/) to that in transverse direction (Q/su w/), and its approximate form is obtained as a function of Nusselt number for practical utility. Since an approximate value of the ratio Q$\_$axial//Qsub w/ can be expressed in terms of the time-averaged rather than transient temperatures, this expression is useful to estimate the heat transfer coefficient in the Stirling machine regenerator experimentally.

  • Experimental results are presented, which describe the effect of blowing ratio on film cooling from two rows of holes with opposite orientation angles. The inclination angle is fixed at 35°, and the orientation angles are set to be 45°for the downstream row, and -45°for the upstream row. The studied blowing ratios are 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0. The boundary layer temperature distributions are measured using thermocouple at two downstream locations. Detailed adiabatic film cooling effectiveness and heat transfer coefficient distributions are measured with TLC(Thermochromic Liquid Crystal). The adiabatic film cooling effectiveness and heat transfer coefficient distributions are discussed in connection with the injectant behaviors inferred from the boundary layer temperature distributions. Film cooling performance, represented by heat flux is evaluated from the adiabatic film cooling effectiveness and heat transfer coefficient data. The results show that the investigated geometry provides improved film cooling performance at the high blowing ratios of 1.0 and 2.0.
