  • Shaking table test was carried out to obtain dynamic characteristics of TLCDs with uniform and non-uniform sections for both horizontal and vertical tubes. The input to the table is harmonic acceleration with constant magnitude. The output is horizontal dynamic force which is measured by load cell installed below the TLCD. Transfer functions are experimentally obtained using the ratio of input and output. Natural frequency, the most important design factor, is compared to that by theoretical equation for TLCDs with five different water levels. System identification process is performed for experimentally obtained transfer functions to find the dynamic characteristics of head loss coefficient and effective mass of TLCDs. It is found that their magnitudes are larger for a TLCD with non-uniform section than with uniform section and natural frequencies are close to theoretical ones.

  • Underwater vehicles such as UUVs (Unmanned Underwater Vehicles) and ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles) use sonar to detect their underwater environment or other underwater vehicles. The underwater vehicles designed recently have an electrical power system with high rotational speed. This system can generate high frequency vibrations above 10 kHz, and these vibrations can cause bad (negative) effects on the performance of the sonar. In many previous investigations, numerical analyses have been used for high frequency vibration problems. In this study, an experimental analysis was carried out, and a circular cylindrical shell was considered as the hull structure of an underwater vehicle. Frequency transfer functions for the circular cylindrical shell were identified using an experimental vibration analysis in the air and in a fully-submerged condition. We compare the frequency transfer functions in the air and water to obtain hydro-elastic effects. It is found that the dynamic characteristics of the circular cylindrical shell are changed by varying the response position.

  • A rapid pneumatic transfer system (PTS) for an instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) is developed as an automatic irradiation facility involving the measurement of a short half-life nuclide and a delayed neutron counting system. Three new PTS designs with improved functions were constructed at the HANARO research reactor in 2006. The new system is composed of a manual system and an automatic system for both an INAA and a delayed neutron activation analysis (DNAA). The design and basic conception of a modified PTS are described, and the functions of system operation and control, radiation protection and emissions of radioactive gas are improved. In addition, a form of capsule transportation of these systems is tested. The experimental results pertaining to the irradiation characteristics with variation of the neutron flux and the temperature of the irradiation position with the irradiation time are presented, as is an analysis of the reference material for analytical quality control and uncertainty assessments.

  • As mentioned in Part I all groupware products have been categorized into three areas which include cooperation/document management systems(CMS), collaborative writing systems(CWS), and decision-making/meeting system(DMS). This study deals with a comparative analysis of the last two areas, which is added to the first. It turns out that DMS has a higher market share than CWS. However. since effective collaboration requires the functions inherent to these two systems. they should be integrated somehow. The systems' functions that have been implemented in response to design issues have been described. Each group of the functions has been divided into three parts which consist of basic function, quasi-basic function. and others. Such a decision has been made according to the frequency rate of the functions provided in the products. While the basic functions in CWS include collaboraive writing beyond restriction of time and place, group awareness. version control. and others, in DMS realtime collaboration. brainstorming. presentation. various task support. policy formation. document management, multimedia, subgroup communication. topic commenter, categorizer, screen capture and various rile transfer. The basic functions are merged into the integrated functional model which was proposed in Part I. Since the model is so flexible that it can partially include the quasi-functions in addition to the hasic functions. a large number of products may stem from the modification of the functional model.

  • According to enhancement of roles and functions of enterprises' distribution centers, recent trend of distribution centers are specialization and diversification which have generated lots of new distribution center building or expansion of the existing ones and led attention on stock transfer importance in case of distribution center relocation. This thesis is a study for how to reduce stock transfer leadtime in order to minimize business risk and how to increase inventory accuracy when stock ownership is transferred in case of distribution center relocation, and to provide inventory accuracy management methods and inventory in/out management types, detailed definition to evaluate level for inventory accuracy management and pros/cons by inventory in/out management type assuming 'the higher inventory accuracy before stock transfer, the shorter stock transfer leadtime when distribution center is relocated'. This thesis provides detailed procedure to secure an absolute stock transfer leadtime and process to confirm hugh inventory accuracy by stakeholders which should be sloved by Task Force Team for stock transfer in case of distribution center relocation.

  • There are three types in frequency response accelerometer; one is lightly damped piezp type, another is oil damping stainguage type and the third is electro induction type accelerometer within electromagnetic damping. The usable frequency range of lightly damped accelerometers is limited to 0.2 of their mounted natural frequency for amplitude distortion of less than 5 percents. There have been situation where the measured motion contains unforeseen high - frequency components, which are regarded as such due to the accelerometer transfer function. There are several way to overcome amplitude distortion of the higher than anticipated frequency components; (I) to make use of the accelerometer with natural frequency three times and more as high as the measured frequency, (II) to establish data-analysis techniques which will account for the amplitude distortion, (III) to set up a notch filter circuit which has a transfer function that is the reciprocal of the accelerometer transfer function, and so on. This paper makes a report of the method as to(III), i. e., set up a few notch filter circuits, it is discussed what happens when the transfer functions, are in discord as to natural frequency of the filter and accelerometer damping vs. filter damping. And especially as for the cantilever strain gauge type accelerometer made by oneself with ease, it was compared and discussed between the ideological value and the experimental value of actual designed circuit in case of the mismatching of the transfer functions, and it was considered whether to be practicable or not, the result of which was as following; the useful frequency range of the accelerometer can be extended to near resonance if (a) the accelerometer mounted natural frequency and the filter center frequency are matched within .+-. 2 percent and (b) the damping ratios are matched within two factors. Therefore, we obtained the good result in improvement for extending frequency response characteristics of accelerometer.

  • Aortic AIx(augmentation index) has been used to measure aortic stiffness quantitatively and even to evaluate ventricular load. However, in order to calculate aortic AIx catheters should be inserted to the subjects' artery, which hampers its clinical usage. To overcome such limitation, aortic AIx has been indirectly calculated by estimating aortic pressure wave from the peripheral arterial pulse by applying transfer functions. In this study, central aortic pressure waves using Millar catheter and radial artery pulse waves using tonometry pressure sensor were measured to establish transfer functions for an estimation of central aortic pressure waves from radial artery pulse waves. Also, an algorithm which detects augmentation point for the calculation of AIx were developed. Developed algorithm for the detection of augmentation point gradually increases the differential order to detect inflection point rather than detects the distinctive point that appears after a specific time. Transfer functions were established using 10th order ARX model and were verified for the stability of the transfer function through residual analysis. Evaluation of an algorithm for the detection of augmentation point were performed by comparing the augmentation points obtained from developed algorithm with the known augmentation points synthesized in various conditions. In addition, developed algorithm for the AIx is proved to provide more accurate results than the ones developed by previous studies. The significance of the study was in two folds. Firstly, the results could provide the basis for the measurement of aortic stiffness using easily-measurable radial artery pulse waves, and secondly, extension of the study may enable the early diagnosis of various vascular diseases.

  • As the various A/V devices and home networks are delivered to users, home networks are changing to an entertainment network. It is expected that the required network bandwidth and the amount of usage of media content in home entertainment networks will be increased. Although the access networks and home networks becoming a high speed network, there remains the problems for QoS-guaranteed media content transfer in home networks. Also, in the home network, there can be network traffic caused by applications like video conferencing, video telephone, and VoIP(voice over IP) as well as inner network traffic of home network. Since media content transfer requires the real-time delivery, it is very important and basic requirement that is to transfer media content to A/V device user wants while keeping the media quality. Even though there are many middleware protocol for home networking, they provide basic device discovery and control or simple functions for QoS-guaranteed media content transfer that are not enough to provide QoS-guaranteed media transfer service that user wants. Thus, in this paper, we propose the technique based on UPnP(universal plug and play) protocol for QoS-guaranteed media content transfer in the home network. The proposed technique is compatible with UPnP and can be used with UPnP as additional functions. In this paper, we utilize VideoLAN application to verify the proposed technique. We add the additional modules that support the proposed technique's function to VideoLAN and we verify the its functions through various test scenarios.

  • Sound localization can be controlled by simulating the transfer functions from sound source to listener's ears. Even by using this method. a good performance cannot be expected when a listener slightly moves from the position where the transfer functions were measured. We have already been proposed the multi-point control method to overcome the problem of the listener's small movement. In this method, the transfer functions are simulated at multiple points around the listner's ears so that the points forms an area which covers the small movement of the listener. In this paper. we investigated the effect of applying multi-point control method for the control of sound localization. Results show that multi-point control is effective to keep the perceptual error of the localized direction small when the listener moves up to 6 cm from the original position.
