Comparison of Control Strategies for Military Series-Type HEVs in Terms of Fuel Economy Based on Vehicle Simulation (시뮬레이션을 이용한 군용 직렬형 HEV 의 주행 전략에 따른 연비 성능 비교에 관한 연구)

  • Military vehicles, compared to conventional vehicles, require higher driving performance, quieter operation, and longer driving distances with minimal fuel supplies. The series hybrid electric vehicle can be driven with no noise and has high initial startup performance, because it uses only a traction motor that has a high startup torque to drive the vehicle. Moreover, the fuel economy can be improved if the vehicle is hybridized. In series hybrid electric vehicles, the electric generation system, which consists of an engine and a generator, supplies electric energy to a battery or traction motor depending on the vehicle driving state and battery state of charge (SOC). The control strategy determines the operation of the generation system. Thus, the fuel economy of the series hybrid electric vehicle relies on the control strategy. In this study, thermostat, power-follower, and combined strategies were compared, and a 37% improvement in the fuel economy was implemented using the combined control strategy suggested in this study.

  • This study considers the design of a 130kW-class IPMSM for propulsion of a Tram-Train. This Tram-Train has a wide range of speed variation. For this reason, this study suggested IPMSM, which has wide speed variation as a motor for propulsion of the Tram-Train, a basic model suitable for the required traction force was designed. IPMSM has different electromagnetic and structural characteristics depending on the shapes of its rotor. Therefore, the suggested model was additionally designed, and by dividing a permanent magnet was changed so as th have a shape with an added bridge. Finally, by analyzing the load characteristics with finite element analysis of the basic and suggested models and by comparing electromagnetic and structural characteristics, a model has been derived that satisfies IPMSM for the propulsion of the Tram-Train.

Effect of Manual Therapy on a Patient With Atlantoaxial Rotatory Subluxation (환축추 회전 아탈구 환자에 대한 도수치료 효과)

  • Background: An 8-year-old girl had severe neck pain and stiffness after trauma. CT scan showed atlantoaxial rotatory subluxation (AARS). She had conservative treatment because she did not have neurological symptoms and spinal basilar artery dysfunction. Conservative therapy was halter traction twice for 4 weeks. However, pain and stiffness persisted. She had been recommended to have surgery from her physician, but she received manual therapy for non-surgical procedures. Methods: The joint mobilization, muscle energy technique, motor control exercise, and deep neck flexor (DNF) endurance exercise were applied as manual therapy and 10 session for 2weeks. Results: Clinical outcomes were measured at initial baseline, after 2 weeks, and after 6weeks. Active range of motion was completely restored after 6weeks and numeric pain rating scale was completely reduced after 2 weeks. The strength of neck flexor muscle recovered to normal after 2 weeks, and the DNF endurance was improved to 25 seconds after 2 weeks and to 42 seconds after 6weeks. Motor control capacity recovered to 30 ㎜Hg after 2 weeks. Conclusions: This case report describes the immediate and short-term clinical outcomes for a patient presenting with symptoms of neck pain following AARS. Clinical rationale and patient preference aided the decision to incorporate manual therapy as a treatment for this patient. Manual therapy has shown a successful recovery in AARS patients, more research is needed to validate the inference of this case report.

Design of Planetary Gear Drive Unit for Drive Conversion of Transfer case (Transfer case의 구동변환을 위한 유성기어장치 구동부 설계)

  • Since the four-wheel drive transmits the driving force to all four wheels, the traction with the road surface increases, thereby increasing the driving force. However, it has the disadvantage of lowering fuel efficiency. Therefore, four-wheel drive is commonly used as a method of converting to optional four-wheel drive when necessary while driving in two-wheel drive. This selective four-wheel drive converts the driving force by mechanically changing the electric signal sent by the driver in the transfer case. In this study, in order to mechanically change the electrical signal, a reducer is applied to the motor to increase the torque to perform the function. Therefore, in this study, a reduction mechanism applicable to the motor inside the transfer case applied to convert the drive is derived, and the reduction ratio applying the planetary gear type is optimized accordingly. And based on the derived reduction ratio, two sets of planetary gears using a ring gear in common were applied to develop a planetary gear tooth type in which the input shaft and output shaft are decelerated in the same phase. Optimization design was carried out.

Temperature Characteristics of Traction Motor in New and Existed Line (신선 및 기존선 구간에서의 전동기 고정자 온도 특성)

  • 현재 국내에서의 견인전동기 개발현황은 직류전동기는 655kw, 교류전동기는 210kw정도이며, 주행속도가 200km/h이상인 고속에 적용되는 1,000kW급 이상 유도전동기 기술은 한국형 고속전철이 국내에서는 최초이다. 최고 주행속도 300km/h급의 고속전철용 1,130kW 동기전동기에 대한 제작 및 시험기술만을 프랑스에서 이전 받아 유도전동기를 제작하였다. 고속철도 차량용 견인전동기는 한정된 공간에 취부되어야 함으로 경량화가 필수적이다. 또한 전력기기에 대한 에너지 고밀도화가 가능해야 함으로 열적 특성에 대한 분석이 체계적으로 이루어져야 한다. 본 연구를 통해 외기 온도, 주행 속도 및 운행 시간에 따른 견인전동기의 온도 특성 변화를 살펴봄으로써 고속전철용 견인전동기의 고정자 온도 특성을 확인할 수 있었다.

Drive-train Jerk Reduction Control for Parallel Hybrid Electric Vehicles (병렬형 하이브리드 전기자동차 구동계의 Jerk 저감 제어)

  • TMED(Transmission Mounted Electric Device) parallel hybrid configuration can realize EV(Electric Vehicle) mode by disengaging the clutch between an engine and a transmission-mounted motor to improve efficiencies of low load driving and regenerative braking. In the EV mode, however, jerk can be induced since there are insufficient damping elements in the drive-train. Though the jerk gives demoralizing influence upon driving comport, adding a physical damper is not applicable due to constraints of the layout. This study suggests the jerk reduction control, composed of active damping method and torque profiling method, to suppress the jerk without hardware modification. The former method creates a virtual damper by generating absorbing torque in the opposite direction of the oscillation. The latter method reduces impulse on the mated gear teeth of the drive-train by limiting the gradient of traction torque when the direction of the torque is reversed. To validate the effectiveness of the suggested strategy, a series of vehicle tests are carried out and it is observed that the amplitude of the oscillation can be reduced by up to 83%.

  • $CO_2$ reduction, energy security, and emission reduction are the critical issues in the current automotive industry. As one of the solutions to these issues, Battery Electric Vehicle is attracting attention recently. Advanced battery electric drive vehicle require batteries, power electronics and electrical machines to function. These devices allow the vehicle to use energy from the battery to assist in the propulsion of the vehicle. In this paper, the main feature of these technologies are briefly introduced and recent trends of patent applications are described.

  • The direct torque control(DTC) of induction machines has the advantages of a simple control scheme and a very quick and robust torque response and its application is extended in the traction field. However, some drawbacks of the conventional DTC strategy using a hysteresis controller are the relatively large torque ripple in the steady state and the variation of switching frequency according to the amplitude of hysteresis bands and the motor operating conditions. In this paper, a navel direct t()roue control scheme of induction machines based on stator flux control and Space Vector Modulation Is proposed to acquire the advantage of a fixed switching period and the minimization of the torque and stator current ripple in a wide speed range. The effect of proposed method has been proven by simulations and experiments.

Shape Design of IPMSM for HEV Traction Motor to Reduce Usage of Permanent Magnet and to Ensure Maximum Output Power (영구자석 사용량 저감과 최대출력 확보를 위한 HEV 구동용 IPMSM의 형상설계)

  • 일반적으로 매입형 영구자석 동기전동기는 영구자석의 사용량이 많을수록 돌극비를 향상 시킬 수 있으므로 발생토크 중 릴럭턴스 토크의 비중을 키울 수 있다. 이는 토크 발생 시 입력전류를 저감시켜 동손이 감소하고 효율을 향상시키는 효과를 기대할 수 있다. 하지만 최근에 희토류계 영규자석의 가격 상승으로 인하여 영구자석 형 전동기 개발에 있어 제약이 따르는 상황이며 가격 경쟁력을 위하여 영구자석의 사용량을 저감시키는 노력을 기울이고 있다. 본 논문에서는 HEV 구동용 매입형 영구자석 동기전동기를 대상으로 영구자석 사용량 저감 설계에 대하여 다루고자 한다. 영구자석 사용량 저감은 영구자석의 두께를 변경시켜서 검토하였으며 실험을 통한 영구자석의 감자특성을 검토하여 최적의 두께를 결정하였다. 영구자석 두께 저감에 따라 감소한 최대출력 확보를 위하여 회전자의 형상설계를 기계적 구조해석과 병행하여 수행하였다. 최종으로 설계된 모델의 특성은 Prototype과 비교하여 성능만족 여부 및 영구자석 사용량 변화를 확인하였다.

An Experimental Study about Tractive Performance of Tracked Vehicle on Deep-sea Soft Sediment Based on Design of Experiment Using Orthogonal Array (직교배열표 실험계획법에 의한 심해 연약지반용 무한궤도차량의 견인성능에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • This paper is concerned with an experimental investigation about tractive performance of a tracked vehicle on extremely soft soil. A tracked vehicle model with principal dimensions of $0.9\;m(L)\;{\times}\;0.75\;m(B)\;{\times}\;0.4\;m(H)$ and the weight of 167 kg was constructed with a pair of driving chain links driven by two AC-servo motors. The tracks are configured with detachable grousers with variable span. Deep seabed was simulated by means of bentonite-water mixture in a soil bin of $6.0\;m(L)\;{\times}\;3.7\;m(B)\;{\times}\;0.7\;m(H)$. Slip of vehicle and driving torque of motor were measured with respect to experimental variables; grouser span, grouser chevron angle, driving speed, drawbar-pull weight, position of center-of-gravity and weight. $L_8$ orthogonal array is adopted for DOE (Design Of Experiment). The effects of experiment variables on traction performance are evaluated.
