  • The purpose of this thesis is to construct the autonomous decentralized train traffic management structure using techniques of Autonomous Decentralized System. Currently, a method of train traffic control is making use of CTC(Centralized Traffic Control). Its operation method is divided into the remote mode and the local mode. The classified basis is according to the control authority of install signals in track side. In most cases, a large scale station is operated by the local mode. Because of dispatchers in center can not control the shunting works influence on the main route. In order to solve these problem s, we analyzed a current operation condition and system requirements. Moreover, this thesis is constructing autonomous decentralized train traffic management structure. Finally, this research proposed that interface with CTC and step-by-step construction.

  • The responses of the floor system of a railway bridge are investigated for fatigue life prediction of damaged members using fracture mechanics approach. Numerical analysis of the structure is performed in order to see the influence of track-structure interaction and continuity of the truss connection on the response of the bridge members. Fatigue crack growth analysis is carried through equivalent stress obtained from time-history analysis. The results of time-history analysis agree with measured responses. The fatigue propagation life increases as the curvature in the coped stringer increases.

  • W-Project is 70-story mixed-use residential building complex project in Busan, the second biggest city in South Korea. As it is a high rise building complex located at the coast, the residents have great ocean view from the height. Though, there were many difficult challenges to be solved to secure structural safety and meet the serviceability requirements. As it is located on the reclaimed land, securing the foundation bearing capacity on soft soil is the first issue to be solved for the stable structure. W-Project. Busan on the way usual track of typhoon, wind load on structure is also critical for structural safety and serviceability for occupants due to wind vibration. This paper will address process of lateral load resisting structural system of W-Project.

  • Recently the railway becomes principal transportation on account of the important role in mass transit and commute in urban area. However, rail noise and vibration raise a major problem for the residents living nearby railway track. At that point of view, the effective counterplan for the soundproofing and protection of vibration has to be considered in the process of railway design. Therefore, the reliable computation of load caused by running train on rail is very important to estimate vibration of structure adjacent to railway. In this study, Input identification is used for the calculation of load and vibration, induced by high speed train on rail. The influence of railroad noise and vibration on structure is evaluated using the 3-D Finite element method and the reliability of the evaluation is discussed comparing with the results of the field measurements.

Dynamic Analysis of Asphalt Concrete Pavement Structure

  • A new solution for the dynamic analysis of as asphalt concrete pavements under moving loads has been developed. The asphalt concrete pavement can be modeled in elastic or viscoelastic medium of multi-layered structure. The subgrade can be modeled as either a rigid base or a semi-infinite halfspace. The loads may be constant or arbitrary circular loads into one direction. The method utilizes the Complex Response Method of transient analysis with a continuum solution in the horizontal direction and a finite-element solution in the vertical direction. This proposed method incorporates such important factors as wave propagation, inertia and damping effects of the medium as well as frequency-dependent asphalt concrete properties. The proposed method has been validted with the full-scale field truck test, which was conducted on instrumented asphalt concrete section on a test track at PACCAR Technical Center in Mount Vernon, Washington. Comparison with field strain data from full-scale pavement tests has shown excellent agreement.   • This paper presents a visual servoing of RV-M2 robot manipulators to track and grasp moving object, using pruned dynamic recurrent neural networks(DRNN). The object is stationary in the robot work space and the robot is tracking and grasping the object by using CCD camera mounted on the end-effector. In order to optimize the structure of DRNN, we decide the node whether delete or add, by mutation probability, first in case of delete node, the node which have minimum sum of input weight is actually deleted, and then in case of add node, the weight is connected according to the number of case which added node can reach the other nodes. Using evolutionary programming(EP) that search the struture and weight of the DRNN, and evolution strategies(ES) which train the weight of neuron, we pruned the net structure of DRNN. We applied the DRNN to the Visual Servoing of a robot manipulators to control position and orientation of end-effector, and the validity and effectiveness of the pro osed control scheme will be verified by computer simulations.

  • Bending losses of bent optical waveguides are calculated by virtue of the finite difference-beam p propagation method in the cylindrical coordinate system. In order to minimize the radiating losses of bent optical waveguides, we apply the trench structure to the bent waveguides and perform the a analysis to keep track of: 1) the influence of curvature radius on the bending loss without the trench, 2) the influence of curvature radius and refractive index difference on the bending loss with the trench, 3) the influence of the trench width on the bending loss.

  • In this paper, we suggest postal RFID adaptation model, tag data structure and code which can be used for real time trace and track of parcel processing and pallet management. This paper also shows postal RFID application system architecture and testbed based on the proposed tag data structure and code, and shows recognition performance of tag on parcel and pallet by speed and mounting tag material such as can, water, and paper using implemented postal RFID system for postal logistics. The contribution of this paper is to stimulate deployment of RFID technology for postal logistics service and SCM (Supply Chain Management).

  • During the passage of the train, the railway bridge undergoes vibration and noise. The noise of railway bridge can be occurred from various sources. The wheel-rail contact, noise from machinery parts, structural-borne noise, pantagraph noise and aerodynamic noise of the train work in combination. Running train is one of the most important factors for railway bridge vibration. The repeated forces with equidistant axles cause the magnification of dynamic responses which relates with maintenance of the track structure and structure-borne noises. The noise problem is one of the most important issues in services of light rail transit system which usually passes through towns. In the present study, The vibration and noise of the LRT bridge will be investigated with utilizing dynamics responses from moving train as input data for noise analysis.

  • In this raper, we present a Wavelet Neural Network(WNN) approach to the solution of the tracking problem for mobile robots that possess complexity, nonlinearity and uncertainty. The neural network is constructed by the wavelet orthogonal decomposition to form a wavelet neural network that can overcome the problems caused by local minima of optimization and various uncertainties. This network structure is helpful to determine the number of the hidden nodes and the initial value of weights with compact structure. In our control method, the control signals are directly obtained by minimizing the difference between the reference track and the pose of a mobile robot that is controlled through a wavelet neural network. The control process is a dynamic on-line process that uses the wavelet neural network trained by the gradient-descent method. Through computer simulations, we demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed control method.
