Objectives: Phthalates, which are widely used as plasticizers, have been recognized as endocrine disruptors. In the present study, we provided information on the regulation of these chemicals and summarized the information available on their detection and toxicity in children's products and those of their alternatives. Methods: The regulatory frameworks related to phthalates in children's products in Korea, the United States (US), and the European Union (EU) were compared. Data on the detection concentration of 16 phthalates and seven phthalate alternatives that could be used in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic products for children as well as on their toxicity classification and endocrine disruption toxicity were collected from the literature. Results: Korea adopted US and EU chemical standards for six phthalates (DEHP, BBP, DBP, DINP, DIDP, and DNOP), but not others (e.g., DIBP, DPP, DHP, and DCHP). Among the ten phthalates and seven substitutes for which regulatory standards were not determined, DIBP, DHP, DEHA, DIBA, DINA, and DEHT were detected in children's products made from PVC plastic. DIBP and DHP, which have a reproductive toxicity classification of 1B, were frequently detected in PVC toys. The reproductive toxicity, estrogenicity, and anti-androgenic activity of the unregulated phthalates and their alternatives have been reported in diverse in vitro and in vivo assays. Conclusion: The use of unregulated phthalates and their substitutes in children's products is increasing. Further monitoring and toxicological information on phthalate alternatives is required to develop proper management plans.

Triboelectric devices are attracting attention from researchers as self-powered electronic systems that can instantly convert mechanical input into electrical energy output. To improve triboelectric energy harvesting performance, increasing the number of contacts as well as the contact area has been carried out by numerous researchers. In this study, we design a shaker-type energy harvester which is called as maracas triboelectric generator (M-TEG), inspired by the structure of maracas, one of the musical percussion instruments. A tripod frame is inserted to the inside of a cylindrical case, which is a device with the electrodes of aluminum and copper. Then, the triboelectric energy harvesting characteristics between polypropylene (PP) balls and the electrodes are measured. The M-TEG with the frame generates the energy harvesting signals up to ~100 V and ~2.5 ㎂ due to larger contact area and numbers, which enhances the voltage and current output by 250% and 610% compared to that without the frame, respectively. This study presents the feasibility of self-powered sensors and toys using improved triboelectric energy performance with a low-cost and simple manufacturing process in the interesting structure.

In this research, a cohort of two children, aged 7-8 years, was selected to participate in a specialized three-week training program aimed at enhancing their working memory. The program consisted of three sessions, each lasting approximately 30 minutes. The primary goal was to investigate the impact and developmental trajectory of working memory in school-aged children. Working memory plays a significant role in young children's learning and daily activities. To address the needs of this demographic, products should offer both educational and enjoyable activities that engage working memory. Digital educational tools, known for their flexibility, are suitable for both older individuals and young children. By updating software or modifying content, these tools can be effectively repurposed for young learners without extensive hardware changes, making them both cost-effective and practical. For example, memory training games initially designed for older adults can be adapted for young children by altering images, music, or storylines. Furthermore, incorporating elements familiar to children, like animals, toys, or fairy tales, can increase their engagement in these activities. Historically, working memory capabilities have been assessed predominantly through traditional intelligence tests. However, recent research questions the adequacy of these behavioral measures in accurately detecting changes in working memory. To bridge this gap, the current study utilized electroencephalography (EEG) as a more sophisticated and precise tool for monitoring potential changes in working memory after the training. The research findings were revealing. Participants showed marked improvement in their performance on n-back tasks, a standard measure for evaluating working memory. This improvement post-training strongly supports the effectiveness of the training program. The results indicate that such targeted and structured training programs can significantly enhance the working memory abilities of children in this age group, providing promising implications for educational strategies and cognitive development interventions.

This study aims to propose operational directions for establishing Support Centers for Childcare (SCC) as central institutions in local communities by examining the performance status of community-linked projects of SCC. To achieve this, an analysis of performance related to community-linked projects was conducted focusing on SCC activity reports from 2018 to 2022, encompassing the past five years. Upon examination of the analysis results, several findings emerged. Firstly, there was a substantial number of achievements with non-profit organizations and public institutions as the types of institutions involved in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), with a predominant focus on educational and informational support within the MOU contents. Secondly, collaboration among institutions within the local community primarily centered around education and administrative support, with a significant portion of support activities being conducted through meetings. Thirdly, individual volunteer contributions were prevalent in events and administrative support, while volunteer efforts were notable in areas such as cleaning toys. Based on these findings, recommendations for community-linked projects of SCC were derived.

While the legislation on the protection of personal information in public institutions was enacted and amended, the guidelines and laws on information security were focused, contracted and realized with focus on specific institutions. Mutual laws and guidelines have been applied and realized for the dual purpose of securing both the asset of macroscopic information and the asset of personally identification information, which are mutually different media information. However, in a bid to present the definition and direction of the fourth industrial revolution in 2017, a variety of products and solutions for security designed to ensure the best safety line of the 21st century, and the third technology with the comprehensive coverage for all these fields, a number of solutions and technologies, including IOT(: Internet of Things), ICT Internet of Things(: ICT), ICT Cloud, and AI (: Artificial Intelligence) are pouring into the security market as if plastic doll toys were manufactured in massive scale into the market. With the rising need for guaranteeing the interrelation for securities with dualistic physical, administrative, logical and psychological differences, that is, information security and personal information security that are classified into two main categories and for the enhanced security for integrated management and technical application, the study aims to acquire the optimal security by analyzing the interrelationship between the two cases and applying it to the study results.
Analysis on Kandinsky's Work as a Case Study of Art Therapy. This study attempts to analyze a work of W. Kandinsky, who placed great emphasis on the relationship between the form and the color of an object, from the viewpoint of art therapy. Most papers related with fine art work analysis approach it from the aesthetical point of view and there are few attempts to interpret art works in terms of art therapy. This study tries to present a new angle to the studies of art therapy Practiced up to now and research is made on its potentiality. With an analysis on the relationship between human psychology, and color and form that convey visual language, research is made on the feasibility of art therapeutic methods through the approaches based on color psychology, Gestalt theory and perception psychology. The final purpose of this study is to apply the results to the development of illustrations, education program for children, and educational instruments and toys that will promote children's healthy emotional growth based on the color psychology and the form psychology of human being. As an initial study, a piece of Kandinsky's work, titled ' CERCLES DANS CERCLE', is analyzed as a case study of art therapy both from theoretical standpoint and from the viewpoint of art therapy. Through this effort, it can be utilized as a new case study of art therapy that will influence human emotion positively and lead to healthful emotional catharsis.
The effects of Physical exercise, gymnastics and sports on the cardiopulmonary function were studied in the middle and high school toys. The subjects were divided into 4 groups; non-training group and training group in both middle school and high school boys. In the above groups, pulmonary function studies were performed, and blood pressure and the heart rate were also checked to evaluate physical fitness during and immediately after running exercise on the tread-mill, with the speed of 5 MPH and elevation of 9% and 11.25%. The types of sports in the training group were base ball, body building, Taekwondo (Korean style boxing) and hand ball. The results obtained were as followings: 1) In the training group, cardiopulmonary function showed some tendency of the increase comparing to the non-training group. 2) The increase in cardiopulmonary function was observed according to the age became older, but the clear changes on cardiopulmonary function was not observed as the difference of the group between the training and the non-training. 3) The expiratory volume was decreased as the increase of age except 17 years of age for the value of the per kg body weight. 4) In the non-training group, the mean value of oxygen consumption under maximum work load was increased, while those in the training group was decreased. But it may be noted that oxygen consumption for the expiratory volume was increased in the training group, and that the oxygen cost in the training group was .higher than that of the non-training group. 5) The pulse pressure of the high school group during and immediately after running exercise was observed in the higher value comparing with that of the middle school group It was suggested that the changes of the pulse pressure was owing to the method of determination and that to the decrease of diastolic pressure caused by the decrease of peripheral vascular resistance up to critical closing pressure. 6) Any differences of the changes in the heart rate between the training group and non-training group was not observed during and immediately after running exercise. 7) The relative value of the expiratory volume to the heart rate was decreased in the elder age group.
Character conveys rich storytelling and various design elements. Domestic characters are changing and developing in various forms through SNS and offline sources, which are being developed in the aspect of contents industry. The purpose of this study is to find out and discuss the factors that character users are using Korean characters as storytelling and color factor. In terms of storytelling, they prefer adventure, fantasy, absurd and humorous stories. In terms of color, it seems that they prefer a character with simple and simple color/ warm color and warm / cute color composition. On the other hand, characters with a simple story, which is the main subject of early childhood education, fashion, or toys in the aspect of storytelling, are not preferred. In terms of color, it was shown that 4 or more colors were combined without a main color. These main colorless characters gave complex feelings that are not preferred. In terms of storytelling, it is necessary to develop and develop the contents of OSMU(One-source Multi use) through story development with adventure and fantasy structure. In terms of color, it is necessary to configure the user with a simple and simple color which is preferred by the users. Also, the assembly robot toy character needs to increase the satisfaction of the character through simple color composition. As a result of this study, the factors that satisfy the users in terms of storytelling and color are derived. The purpose of this study is to clarify what teachers interaction is who try to develop their infants, by examining the intention of beginning the interaction between teachers and their infants, while playing freely at a child care center. The author used a qualitative research method. The subjects of this study are nine infants and three teachers. The author videotaped all the session focusing on the interactions between teachers and their infants. The author observed all the sessions for three months. The author also interviewed the teachers. She also collected the manual of the target daycare centers, its study plans, its observation logs, and the observation logs of the infants' activities and analyzed them. The intention of infants' interaction with their teachers is to know how to play by using some toys. A second intention is to see the contents of the picture book related to the daily routine. A third intention is to satisfy emotional needs. The intention of teachers interaction with their infants while playing freely is to help explore things and try to play. Another intention is to make a transition from teacher-centered play to infant-centered one. A third intention is to pacify infants expressing thoughts by crying. A future research which will increase the quality of the interactions and will be helpful for the development of infants and will focus on infants will be needed.
In this study, we developed the program for 'Discretionary Activity' focusing on the multiple activities with everyday-life materials to enhance scientific creativity (MAEM-SC), which was specifically for students in the 6-7th grade according to the 7th curriculum in Korea. As important factors for scientific creativity, we selected the ability to find out the context relevant to scientific problems, the ability to connect the problem context to scientific knowledge, the ability to invent the ways to solve the problem scientifically, and ability to concentrate on the scientific problem solving activity. The topics of the program were drawn from common and familiar things in our everyday contexts, such as human body, everyday tools, food, play and toys, and everyday episodes. The multiple activities here mean the activities which are systematically constructed with the various types of activities with a specific intention. The multiple activities were designed in three types, that is, series type, parallel type, and combination type. Each of them consists of the several activities as follows: estimating and measuring, carrying out an experiment using body, inventing implement (tools), thinking statistically, writing creatively with scientific themes, and connecting one concept to another concept etc. Through a trial of the program, we found that this program has some positive influence on the enhancement both of the ability to find out the context relevant to scientific problems and the ability to connect it to the students' existing scientific knowledge.
