Study on Improvement of Marina and Marine Leisure Service (국내 마리나항만 서비스 개선방안 연구)

  • This study analyzes the operating conditions of domestic marinas in response to changes in marine leisure trends and demand for recreational boats, and suggests ways to improve services according to the types and functions of marinas. In order to popularize marine leisure and to foster coastal and marine tourism industry, the 'Act on the Development, Management, etc. of Marinas' was enacted in 2010 and 'The 1st Marina Basic Plan' was established, and more than 34 marinas are operated nationwide. In order for domestic marinas to be used as an infrastructure for marine leisure activities, measures for enhancing service functions should be prepared in accordance with the size and characteristics of marinas. It is also necessary to improve facilities for marine leisure management and tourist convenience.

  • With the interest on operational efficiency due to the rapid growth of food material distribution industry and food service industry, the study adopts DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) model and examines to measure the technological, pure technical and scale efficiency those companies engaging in the food material distribution and food service business. As a result of analysis, the companies operating integrated business have relatively higher efficiency than those operating only food material distribution or food service companies while the result indicates that three efficiencies don't have significant difference depending on whether affiliated companies or not.   • The objective of this study is to suggest development methods of marine tour complexes by specializing and modernizing the renowned Jagalchi Fish Market. This study tries to suggest the ways of overcoming limitations of the traditional market place and making a unique tourism destination with affluent attractive culture elements. To preserve its position as the most famous fish market in Korea, Jagalchi market needs to more differentiate its position over competitors. To do that, it needs to avoid over-lapping of product categories among different sectors and specializing each zone according to the assigned theme. Improving tourism environments by expanding entertaining aspects, building landmark facilities and a seaside park, and tourism infrastructures. In addition, the development scheme needs to be planned unified with other city development plans to create a unified image, and a connection program with other tourism resources surrounding the target area needs to be created in order to pursue synergy effects. In the aspect of food, a large seafood center which offers various seafood from all around the world, a traditional night market street, various theme restaurants can be suggested. Successful development of the Jagalchi marine tour complexes not only has ripple effects on the region's culture, society, and other related industries but directly influences related regional tourism and commercial industry.

  • The article is devoted to the issue of the content of legal instruments in terms of tourism business, namely the problems of legal regulation of insurance in tourism. The analysis of the state of development of the problem in question shows that the issue of legal regulation of the insurance contract in general and the contract in tourism services, in general, is insufficiently studied. The article is devoted to topical issues of legal regulation of insurance in the field of tourism, the search for effective mechanisms to increase the liability of both underwriters and insurers. Therefore, insurance can be considered as one of the methods of preventing unfortunate consequences during the implementation of tourism activities. The author's vision of the content of the package of measures that can positively influence not only the development of the tourist industry in general but primarily to help identify those legal segments that need improvement in the future has been stated.

A Study on Active Senior Travel Recognition Using ChatGPT (ChatGPT를 활용한 액티브 시니어 여행 인식 탐색 연구)

  • ChatGPT, a leading example of generative AI, is expanding the use of its LLM (Large Language Model) from traditional academic fields such as literature and creative writing to practical areas like management, tourism, and media. This study was conducted with active seniors to analyze their perceptions of travel and tourism, identifying key areas of interest and specific details. ChatGPT was utilized as an analytical tool in major areas of the study, providing suggestions for key findings.The research findings are as follows: First, terms closely associated with active senior travel include retirement, together, service, consumption, leisure, health, life, hobby, culture, generation, platform, wellness, and program. Second, centrality analysis showed that words like service, leisure, and together had high degrees of centrality and closeness centrality, while terms such as health, domestic, culture, activity, program, and life had high closeness centrality. Third, based on the CONCOR analysis with suggestions from ChatGPT, two clusters were identified: 'Retirement and Lifestyle' and 'Senior Services and Platforms'. Based on the research findings, practical implications for active senior travel were identified, along with academic implications for the field of tourism studies.

  • A review of literature relating to the research topic and a survey method have been implemented in order to analyze effects of service orientation. For data analysis, a reliability analysis was performed to test the reliability of the construct and a series of an exploratory factor analysis was used for the validity test. The findings of the study were as follows: Classified into sex, service leadership factor and service skill factor showed meaningful difference between groups. Classified with age, service training factor, service leadership factor, service standardization factor, service technology factor, and service compensation factor showed meaningful difference between groups. Classified with scholarship, service compensation factor showed meaningful difference. Classified into working year, employees' discretion factor showed meaningful difference. Classified into work department, service training factor and employees' right factor showed meaningful difference. In addition, classified into monthly average incomes, employees' discretion factor showed meaningful difference.

COVID-19 and IT Service: Challenges and Responses (COVID-19와 IT 서비스: 변화와 대응)

  • Since the first confirmed case in January 2020, Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) has brought many changes to our society, and Korea is no exception. Some changes are direct and immediate such as restrictions on overseas travel and social distancing, but the others are indirect and slowly adapted such as lifestyle changes impacting industries and businesses. IT service sector is tremendously influenced by COVID-19. IT service is used extensively in response to COVID-19 taking advantage of its non-face-to-face characteristics. In that sense, the industry is positively affected and in some sense invigorated, giving birth to new kind of services. This special issue focuses on introducing how the IT services are affected, what kind of transformations are undergoing, and how these are expedited after COVID-19. This special issue expands and extends the case research section by collecting new IT service case studies concerning these topics. After competitive review process, 11 studies are selected for this special issue which deals with four different but closely related aspects: (1) evolutions of private IT services, (2) transformations in public IT services, (3) impacts in the hospitality and tourism industry, and (4) changes of people's behavior along with COVID-19. The first set reports on the evolution of private IT services that have created terms such as foodtech and edutech as we enter a rapid non-face-to-face situation. The second set consists of studies dealing with the evolution of public IT services. Evolution and rapid response to non-face-to-face appear to be no exception in the public sector. The third includes studies of hospitality and tourism which is most strongly affected by COVID-19. The last set deals with the behavioral changes of users such as technostress in telecommuting. Lessons learned through best practices and key problems identified in these studies may help us to actively respond to the coming waves of changes incurred by COVID-19 in our society as well as in the IT service industry.

Barrier-Free Subway Service System Scenario : Comparison Between Korea and China (한국과 중국의 비교를 통한 무장애 지하철 서비스시스템 시나리오 제안)

  • In the global era, the tourism industry is a major profitable business, and the state and local governments are making various efforts to provide quality tourism experiences. The purpose of this study in a variety of tourism contents is to study barrier-free subway services in line with the global era, and to expand from the existing rapid, safe, and ordered transportation to the provision of high-quality comfort and all-round service experiences. This study compared and analyzed the subway service systems of Korea, China and both countries through the service design method, and presented a barrier-free subway service system to improve the user's satisfaction with the subway service system by improving the user's service experience. As a result, research results showed that 20 attractive quality attributes in 17 fields, such as convenience facilities, language issues, security equipment, and riding environment, play an important role in improving the quality and experience of subway services. In addition, through the construction of a Service Spatial Scenario, an optimized subway service system can be visualized to help understand this so that it can be used as a reference for creating a strategic application.
