The purpose of this study was to identify problems of usability and to improve an interface in the digital textbook for leaner's leading to self-directed learning. To address those goals, the theory of affordance, which was related to affordance as leading to behavior, was applied for analyzing the user interface of digital textbook. Also, 10 students, 4th grade elementary school, were participated in the study. Participants were reported affordance's problems of digital textbook through Human Computer Interaction. As a result, some affordance's problems of the digital textbook were found out as follow; difficulty of page clicking, too small touch button, confusing the button, and, need to specific guidance. Based on the result, some suggestions were recommended to improve usability of digital textbook.

This paper presents a 24 channel capacitive touch sensing ASIC. This ASIC consists of analog circuit part and digital circuit part. Analog circuits convert user screen touch into electrical signal and digital circuits represent this signal change as digital data. Digital circuit also has an I2C interface for operation parameter reconfiguration from host machine. This interface guarantees the stable operation of the ASIC even against wide operation condition change. This chip is implemented with 0.18 um CMOS process. Its area is about 3 $mm^2$ and power consumption is 5.3mW. A number of EDA tools from Cadence and Synopsys are used for chip design.
The camera-based mobile applications such as color, pattern and object reading can improve the living quality of blind people. However currently available camera-based applications are uncomfortable for the blind, since these applications do not reflect accessibility requirements of the blind especially on touch screen. We investigated accessibility requirements about rapidly growing camera-based mobile applications on touch screen devices for the blind. In order to identify accessibility requirements, we conducted a usability testing for color reading applications with three different types of interfaces on Android OS. The results of the usability testing were as follows: (1) users preferred short depth of menu hierarchy, (2) the initial audio help was more useful than just-in-time help, (3) users needed both manual and automatic camera shooting modes although they preferred manual to automatic mode, (4) users wanted the OS supported screen reader function to be turned off during the color reading application was running, and (5) users required tactile feedback to identify touch screen boundary. We designed a new user interface for blind people by applying the identified accessibility requirements. From a usability testing of the new user interface with 10 blind people, we showed that the identified accessibility requirements were very useful accessibility guidelines for camera-based mobile applications.
Voice is the most common means for communication, but some people have difficulties in generating voice due to their congenital or acquired disorders. Individuals with speech disorders might lose their speaking ability due to hearing impairment, encephalopathy or cerebral palsy accompanied by motor skill impairments, or autism caused by mental problems. However, they have needs for communication, so some of them use various types of AAC (Augmentative & Alternative Communication) devices in order to meet their communication needs. In this paper, a mobile application for literate people having speech disorder was designed and implemented by developing accurate and fast sentence-completion functions for efficient user interaction. From a user study and the previous study on Korean text-based communication for adults having difficulty in speech communication, we identified functionality and usability requirements. Specifically, the user interface with scanning features was designed by considering the users' motor skills in using the touch-screen of a mobile device. Finally, we conducted the usability test for the application. The results of the usability test show that the application is easy to learn and efficient to use in communication with people with speech disorders.
The digital multimedia environment, centered on Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) technology, has transformed our imagination into a diverse experience. The flexible display, which was born as a means of human-machine communication required in a highly information-oriented society, It is creating a new market by linking with Internet of things. ecause the interface of a flexible display can provide a physical form as a result of input or output, user-centered interface design is paramount. Therefore, the researchers of this paper have studied the physical deformation and characteristics of flexible display by user manipulation through literature and case studies. Therefore, the authors of this paper studied the physical deformations and characteristics of flexible displays by user manipulation through literature and case studies. This research suggests the following guidelines for a flexible display interface design for the user experience. First, it must be designed to provide the functionality that users need in a variety of display environments. Second, in using the interface, external factors should be removed from the viewing angle of multi-users. Third, all possible user actions should be considered on flexible displays other than touch and contact. Fourth, flexible design of flexible display requires changing interface design for user experience.
The domestic game market is still on a trend of growth. Particularly, as the demand for mobile games is increased, the mobile version is developed in a growing number of cases even after the launch of the games for PCS. In a bid to search for the effective method of UI design depending on the differences between the platforms, this study analyzed the types of different media in the first place and as the approaches to the UI design based on the affordance concept, implemented on the platform of PCS and implemented on the platform of mobile devices were analyzed as the cases which are the same MMORPG games. Since the differences between the game platforms can cause the variations in the physical size of the screens depending on the environment in which the user interface (UI) is rendered and may often involve the controls implemented by the touch of screens rather than the manipulation based on the keyboard and mouse, they usually give the influences on the direction of UI designs. By analyzing these UI elements based on the affordance concept, it may be possible to find the effective method of UI design in the future.

Recently, switchboards for MV/LV distribution customers have been united and digitalized rapidly. This paper proposes the effective information visualization method for the data measured from cubicle switchboards for MV/LV distribution customers. We developed the algorithm that analyzes abundant data measured by switchboards and displays them to overall users, such as fire information index, power condition index, switchboard safety index, and power diminution index. Using a touch screen made users to operate it easily. User interface was also improved by taking graphic visualization. We guess the information visualization method suggested in this paper shows the new direction that heavy electrical equipments including switchboards are going to develop in the future.
This Paper presents some of challenges of creating feedback force, through manipulation of master manipulator, allowing the user to feel objects within a virtual environment. A sense of touch for the virtual environment. A sense of touch for the virtual environments was generated by a virtual compliance control method. In theis system data communication between the master and slave, we used TCP protocol. In the experiments. A position error between the master and slave arm was about $13.56^{\circ}$ in case that the master and slave arm had not compliance properties of the virtual object, while they have the its properties the position error reduced by $2.43^{\circ}$.

This paper describes a multi-scale user interaction based tiled display visualization system using multiple input devices for monitoring and analyzing Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) observation satellite imagery. This system provides multi-touch screen, Kinect motion sensing, and moblie interface for multiple users to control the satellite imagery either in front of the tiled display screen or far away from a distance to view marine environmental or climate changes around Korean peninsular more effectively. Due to a large amount of memory required for loading high-resolution GOCI satellite images, we employed the multi-level image load technique where the image was divided into small tiled images in order to reduce the load on the system and to be operated smoothly by user manipulation. This system performs the abstraction of common input information from multi-user Kinect motion and gestures, multi-touch points and mobile interaction information to enable a variety of user interactions for any tiled display application. In addition, the unit of time corresponding to the selected date of the satellite images are sequentially displayed on the screen and multiple users can zoom-in/out, move the imagery and select buttons to trigger functions.
This paper summarizes the development of an ART control system panel with a touch screen and sensors to measure the roll and roll rate of ships. The control system hardware consists of two micro-processors, analog and digital I/O circuits, various relay circuits, etc. Sensor fusion and moving cross algorithms are implemented to accurately estimate the roll angle and roll period. In addition, the control system adopts a fault detection algorithm to inform users of ART system faults. A touch screen in the control panel can display the ART system states and faults. The performance of the developed system was verified on real sea trials.
