  • Most of the research in the multi-touch area is based on the FTIR(Frustrated Total Internal Re리ection), which is just implemented by using the previous approach. Moreover, there are not the software solutions to improve a performance in the multi touch-blobs detection or the user gesture recognition. Therefore, we implement a multi-touch table-top display that is based on the DI(Diffused Illumination), the improved touch-points detection and user gesture recognition. The proposed method supports a simultaneous transformation multi-touch command for objects in the running application. Also, the system latency time is reduced by the proposed ore-testing method in the multi touch-blobs detection processing. Implemented device is simulated by programming the Flash AS3 application in the TUIO(Tangible User Interface Object) environment that is based on the OSC(Open Sound Control) protocol. As a result, Our system shows the 37% system latency reduction, and is successful in the multi-touch gestures recognition.

  • Product images in online fashion retail play a crucial role in shaping consumers' decision-making processes. This study investigates the effects of product display types (i.e., flat vs. human display) on consumers' purchase intentions and willingness to pay (WTP) in online fashion retailing. Using a basic shirt as the target product, we examine how overall certainty of fit (OCF) is perceived differently based on the product display type, and for which individuals the effect is amplified, considering individual differences in the need for touch (NFT). A one-factor (flat vs. human display type) between-subject experiment was conducted via an online survey platform (N = 212). The results indicated that the flat display mode generates a higher purchase intention than the human display, along with a marginally higher WTP. Additionally, the positive effect of a flat display on OCF was significant for individuals with low NFT. This study extends our understanding of online retail product displays and their influence on consumer behavior, yielding valuable insights for marketers to improve product presentation in online retail environments.

  • Different from the LCD that have two glass substrates on the top and the bottom, EPD have an advantage that is using the bottom glass substrate and the top e-ink sheet. So, it is impossible to apply R or C type TSP that need bottom and top glass plane. We successfully implemented the TSP (Touch Screen Panel) based on the light over the EPD (Electro Phoretic Display).

  • This paper presents an Electrotactile Display System (ETCS). One of the most important human sensory systems for human computer interaction is the sense of touch, which can be displayed to human through tactile output devices. To realize the sense of touch, electrotactile display produces controlled, localized touch sensation on the skin by passing small electric current. In electrotactile stimulation, the mechanoreceptors in the skin may be stimulated individually in order to display the sense of vibration, touch, itch, tingle, pressure etc. on the finger, palm, arm or any suitable location of the body by using appropriate electrodes and waveforms. We developed an ETCS and investigated effectiveness of the proposed system in terms of the perception of roughness of a surface by stimulating the palmar side of hand with different waveforms and the perception of direction and location information through forearm. Positive and negative pulse trains were tested with different current intensities and electrode switching times on the forearm or finger of the user with an electrode-embedded armband in order to investigate how subjects recognize displayed patterns and directions of stimulation.

  • We present a new touch screen method, which utilizes the variation of liquid crystal capacitance according to the touch event on the screen. It is integrated in the AMLCD with the conventional LTPS process. Its resolution is same as the display resolution as well as performs the multi-touch sensing function basically. The design concept and the operation are verified with the SPICE simulation.

  • Recently, as the demand for multimedia services based on the wireless technologies and mobile devices increases, Full-touch screen mobile devices adopting touch screen keyboards are emerging to cope with the limited display size and take advantage of the flexibility in the design of user interfaces. However, the text entry task, which is one of the main features of the mobile devices, decreases the competitive advantages of the touch screen keyboards over the physical keyboards or keypads due to the lack of physical feedbacks and the frequent occurrence of mistyping. This study aims to introduce a novel text entry method named Fuzzy Touch and compare this method with the conventional text entry method on a touch screen keyboard in terms of the performance (time, number of touch) and the subjective ratings (ease of use, overall preference).

  • In recent years, flexible e-paper displays based on electrophorectic materials continue to attract enormous interest from technologists and are expected to be in the market soon. To realize a flexible e-paper, several key technologies for TFT backplane have been developed, while it still lacks good color reproduction and requires input function for use in its various applications. Thus, the technical issues for implementing color and touch functions in a flexible e-paper are discussed, and then our development status along with technology trend of it is described.
