  • The effect of discharge have been investigated for condition of spark in a multiple spark ignition engine, as the spark duration, capacitive and inductive discharge energy were calculated for condition of spark by ignition wave and energy formula. The useful portion of spark discharge is divided into capacitance portion and inductance portion. It was found that capacitive discharge energy and spark duration were increased according to increasing number of spark, and inductive discharge energy was increased according to increasing spark interval. Therefore engine torque was increase and lean misfire limit was extended comparing with the standard ignition system. It found that spark energy was discharged within ignition delay period availability acted on the formation and growth of flame kernel, and total spark energy was increased according to increasing number of spark times, but discharged spark energy after ignition delay became unavailable energy. And the capacitive discharge energy has the dominant effect for stoichiomeric or not very rich air-fuel mixture but inductive discharge energy has the dominant effect for lean air-fuel mixture.

  • Passengers and Airlines wish neither delay nor cancellation due to aircraft defects. However, about 1 delay or cancellation case occurs out of 100 departures worldwide whereas 1 quarter case does in Korean domestic industry. Independent LCC carriers in Korea have almost double case. Most cases are recovered by replacing aircraft components. Airlines have prepared the spare components based on the reliability data by manufacturers to rectify defects or perform preventive maintenances. The total value for initial spares including engine is 40% of the aircraft price when they operate less than 5 aircraft. The more airlines operate the aircraft, the less the ratio of the investment for spares reflecting the economy of scale. This study intends to suggest how to improve the efficiencies as well as the safety of LCC throughout parts pooling including engines.

  • We proposed a new model of neural network, called Time Delay Counter-Propagation Neural network (TDCPN). This model is combined properly by the merits of Time Delay Neural Network (TDNN) structure and those of Counter - Propagation Neural network (CPN) learning rule, so that increase recognition rate but decrease total teaming time. And we use this model to simulate classification of EMG signals, and compare the recognition rate and teaming time with those of another neural network model. As a result of simulation, the proposed model is proved to be very effective.

  • Audiovisual (AV) facilities such as TVs and signage are installed in various public places. However, audio cannot be used to prevent noise and interference from individuals, which results in a loss of concentration and understanding of AV content. To address this problem, a total technique for remotely listening to audio from audiovisual facilities with clean sound quality while maintaining video and lip-syncing through personal smart mobile devices is proposed in this paper. Through the experimental results, the proposed scheme has been verified to reduce system power consumption by 8% to 16% and provide real-time processing with a low latency of 120 ms. The system described in this paper will contribute to the activation of audio telehearing services as it is possible to provide audio remote services in various places, such as express buses, trains, wide-area and intercity buses, public waiting rooms, and various application services.

  • Traffic analysis during past years used the Poisson distribution or Markov model, assuming an exponential distribution of packet queue arrival. Recent studies, however, have shown aperiodic and burst characteristics of network traffics. Such characteristics of data traffic enable the scalability of network, QoS, optimized design, when we analyze new traffic model having a self-similar characteristic. This paper analyzes the self-similar characteristics of a small-scale mixed traffic in a network simulation, the real WAN delay time, TCP packet size, and the total network usage.

  • This paper presents a new rectifier with a bootstrapping technique to reduce the effective drop voltage. An all-digital delay locked loop (ADDLL) circuit was also applied to prevent the reverse leakage current. The proposed rectifier uses NMOS diode connected instead of PMOS to reduce the design size and improve the frequency respond. All the sub-circuits of ADDLL were designed with low power consumption to reduce the total power of the rectifier. The rectifier was implemented in CMOS $0.35{\mu}m$ technology. The peak power conversion efficiency was 76 % at an input frequency of 6.78MHz and a power level of 5W.

  • In this paper, we propose a delayed multiple copy retransmission (DMCR) scheme for data communication in wireless networks, by which multiple copies of a lost link layer frame are retransmitted one-by-one with a retransmission delay in between. The number of the copies gradually increases with the number of retransmissions. Furthermore, for implementation of the DMCR scheme in practical mobile communication system, we also propose a dynamic retransmission scheme by interleaving and a new round-robin scheduling algorithm. We compare our scheme with the previous non-delayed retransmission schemes on the performance of frame loss probability, channel capacity and total transmission time. Numerical results show that the DMCR scheme can achieve higher performance. The effect of the delay time on endto-end TCP throughput is investigated as well.

  • The multi-layer advanced high-performance bus (ML-AHB) BusMatrix proposed by ARM is an excellent architecture for applying embedded systems with low power. However, there is one clock cycle delay for each master in the ML-AHB BusMatrix of the advanced microcontroller bus architecture (AMBA) design kit (ADK) whenever a master starts new transactions or changes the slave layers. In this letter, we propose an improved design method to remove the one clock cycle delay in the ML-AHB BusMatrix of an ADK. We also remarkably reduce the total area and power consumption of the ML-AHB BusMatrix of an ADK with the elimination of the heavy input stages.

  • Acoustic noise from the various facilities makes man unpleasant and let researchers find the way for reducing it on environmental point of view. Special way to reduce the acoustic noise had suggested by the concept of Active Silencer. But, it has propagation delay time accumulated during the signal passage and howling effect. This paper suggestes a way to anhilate howling effects, and reduces the total delay time drasticaly by attaching microphone to the speaker. This paper will show how it works by some materials.

  • Many schemes to reduce the inter-MAP handoff delay in hierarchical mobile IPv6 have been proposed but the previous schemes waste relatively large network resources to decrease the path rerouting delay. In this paper, we propose the 2-layered MAP concept, where the seamless inter-MAP handoff can be supported regardless of path rerouting time. As a result, the waste of wired resources and the rate of the inter-MAP handoff can be reduced. From the performance analysis and simulation, the inter-MAP handoff rate for non-real-time traffic is only about 1/3 of the conventional result. Such advantageous features of the proposed scheme neither incur any increase of the total handoff rate nor require additional MAPs.
