  • This study is to calculate Allocation of Pollution Discharges by administrative region for the TMDL (Total Maximum Daily Load) on Tamjin River. TMDL has the water quality target and value ($BOD_5$, 1 ppm) and is calculated by the QUAL2E model. The expected TMDL for Tamjin River is 1,532,360 kg/day. The calculation showed that the main pollutants are due to the non-point sources in Tamjin River and the aqua-farms are another important sources near the bay. And sources from population and livestock should be reduced, especially aqua-farm source should be managed and eliminated first which is over 14,000 ton/day.

  • In Korea, total sediment discharge of a river has been estimated simply by using certain sediment transport formulas including, among others, Einstein's formula. Those formular, however, are known not to be reliable enough for the result calculated by them to be used directly to river planning and management. Therefore, the study used the Modified Einstein Procedure to the estimation of total sediment discharge, because this method is reliable estimated by measurement. Here, measurement of sediment discharge used depth integrating method. The major results obtained from the study for estimation by depth integrating method of sediment discharge in Naeseong stream are as follow; 1 The sedeiment characteristics of Naeseong stream are; The distribution of sediment grain size shows that silt and clay are 55% and sand is 45%. and the bed load sediment grain size is constituted that sand contained with the grain size from O.062mm to 2.0mm is 80% 2. The sediment rating formulas derived from the regression analysis between the sediment discharge and flow discharge are; Seogpo-Gyo : Qs=$0.017 \times 10^{-4} Q^{2.352}$, where discharge is l0cms $0.074 \times 10^{-4} Q^{2.066}$, where discharge is l0cms

  • The experimental comparison between bonded and unbonded types stem-cement interface was carried out on axisymmetric stem-cement-aluminum model of the femoral component of a total hip replacement. Human femur was modeled in non-tapered and tapered($7.5^{\circ}$) aluminum hollow cylinders to emulate the diaphyseal and metaphyseal segments of the femur. For unbonded type, we tested stems with three different taper angles($5^{\circ},\;7.5^{\circ},\;10^{\circ}$). In every case, the cement-aluminum interface was designed to endure 8MPa shear strength. (a measured value at cement-bone interface) We tested aluminum models under axial loading for both cases. As an experimental result, it was found that unbonded stem sustained more axial load as bonded stem in both cases, diaphyseal and metaphyseal models. The unbonded types failed in cement mantle under axial compressive load, while the bonded ones failed in shear at cement-aluminum interface. These results suggest that a polished stem will sustain much higher axial load than a roughened stem. And a polished stem will make more stable cement-bone interface that may promote better osteosythesis around the stem.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the important factors relating to runoff and pollutant loads in a plot unit located in an agricultural area. Of the precipitation parameters, such as total precipitation, days since last rainfall (ADD, the rainfall was more than 10mm) and average rainfall intensity on runoff, the strongest effect was obtained due to total precipitation, but the rainfall intensity showed a slightly positive correlation. It was expected that both variables, i.e. total precipitation and rainfall intensity, would lead to the generation of greater runoff. In contrast, runoff was negatively correlated with ADD, which is understandable because more infiltration and less runoff would be expected after a long dry period. The TSS load varied greatly, between 75.6 and $5.18{\times}10^4g$, per event. With the exception of TN, the TSS, BOD, COD and TP loads were affected by runoff. The correlations of these items were proportional to the runoff volume, with correlation coefficients (r) greater than 0.70, which are suitable for use as NPS model data. The TSS load showed very good relationships with organics (BOD & COD) and nutrients (TN & TP), with correlation coefficients greater than 0.79. Therefore, the removal of TSS is a promising factor for protecting water basins.

  • The variation of streamflow is regarded as one of the most influential factors on the fluctuation of water quality in the stream. The characteristics of the variation should be taken into account in the plans for the management of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs). This study analysed and characterized spatial distribution and temporal variation of streamflow at each unit watershed in Guem-river basin. For the analysis of the distribution of streamflow, the type and the extent of the distribution were investigated for the unit watershed. For the analysis of the variation, short and long term changes of streamflow were examined. The result showed that most of the distributions were not log-normalized and the extent of variation tends to be greater at the unit watershed placed on the tributaries in the basin. A kind of margin could be granted to the unit watershed involving high variations so as to establish the water quality goal and load allotment more reasonably and effectively in view of whole waterbody.

  • A Clustering based wireless internet proxy server needs a layer-7 load balancer with URL hashing methods to reduce the total storage space for servers. Layer-4 load balancer located in front of server cluster is to distribute client requests to the servers with the same contents at transport layer, such as TCP or UDP, without looking at the content of the request. Layer-7 load balancer located in front of server cluster is to parse client requests in application layer and distribute them to servers based on different types of request contents. Layer 7 load balancer allows servers to have different contents in an exclusive way so that it can minimize the total storage space for servers and improve overall cluster performance. However, its scalability is limited due to the high overhead of parsing requests in application layer as different from layer-4 load balancer. In order to overcome its scalability limitation, in this paper, we propose a distributed layer-7 load balancer by replacing a single layer-7 load balancer in the conventional scheme by a single layer-4 load balancer located in front of server cluster and a set of layer-7 load balancers located at server cluster. In a clustering based wireless internet proxy server, we implemented the conventional scheme by using KTCPVS(Kernel TCP Virtual Server), a linux based layer-7 load balancer. Also, we implemented the proposed scheme by using IPVS(IP Virtual Server), a linux-based layer-4 load balancer, installing KTCPVS in each server, and making them work together. We performed experiments using 16 PCs. Experimental results show scalability and high performance of the proposed scheme, as the number of servers grows, compared to the conventional scheme.

  • Background: This study was planned in an attempt to develop scales for the assessment of fatigue in pediatric oncology patients aged 13-18 and also for their parents. Materials and Methods: In collecting the study data, we used the Child and Parent Information Form, Visual Fatigue Scale, Scale for the Assessment of Fatigue in Pediatric Oncology Patients Aged 13-18 and the Scale for the Assessment of Fatigue in Pediatric Oncology Patients Aged 13-18 for Parents. We also used Pearson correlation analysis, Cronbach alpha coefficient, factor analysis and ROC analysis for the study data. Results: In this study, the total Cronbach alpha value of the parent form was 0.99, the total factor load was 0.72-0.94 with 95% the total variance being explained. The cutoff point of the parent form is 73 points. The total Cronbach alpha value of the child form was 0.99, the total factor load was 0.82-0.95, with 89.4% of the total variance being explained. The cutoff point of the child form was 75.5 points. Conclusions: This study suggests that the Scale for the Assessment of Fatigue in Pediatric Oncology Patients Aged 13-18 and the Scale for the Assessment of Fatigue in Pediatric Oncology Patients Aged 13-18 for Parents are valid and reliable instruments in assessing the fatigue symptoms of children in Turkey.

  • Deformability of RC members in shear is controlled by governing failure modes and material strength. Shear strength of members in D-regions has been explained by a direct load path (direct strut or arch action) and indirect load path (fan action or truss action). Indirect load path including truss action and fan action rely on bond along tension ties. Generally, superposition of two actions results in total shear strength when shear failure modes control. The ultimate deformation depends on controlling failure modes and thereby, their force transfer patterns. Proposed models are capable of explaining of limited deformability of RC members in D-regions.
