3D visualization of geological environments using remotely sensed data and the various sources of data provides new methodology to interpret geological observation data and analyze geo-information in earth science applications. It enables to understand spatio-temporal relationships and causal processes in the three-dimension, which would be difficult to identify without 3D representation. To build more realistic geological environments, which are useful to recognize spatial characteristics and relationships of geological objects, 3D modeling, topological analysis, and database should be coupled and taken into consideration for an integrated configuration of the system. In this study, a method for 3D visualization, extraction of geological data, storage and data management using remotely sensed data is proposed with the goal of providing a methodology to utilize dynamic spatio-temporal modeling and simulation in the three-dimension for geoscience and earth science applications.

3D building modeling from airborne Lidar without model regularization may cause positional errors or topological inconsistency in building models. Regularization of 3D building models, on the other hand, restricts the types of models which can be reconstructed. To resolve these issues, this paper modelled 3D buildings from airborne Lidar by building model regularization which considers more various types of buildings. Building points are first segmented into roof planes by clustering in feature space and segmentation in object space. Then, 3D building models are reconstructed by consecutive adjustment of planes, lines, and points to satisfy parallelism, symmetry, and consistency between model components. The experimental results demonstrated that the method could make more various types of 3d building models with regularity. The effects of regularization on the positional accuracies of models were also analyzed quantitatively.
Various input data required for water quality modeling have considerable impacts on modeling results and relevant analysis due to the absence of data standardization and lack of data accuracy. With this in mind, this study mainly focused on the designing Korean Reach File for more effective water quality modeling through the supply of database composed with accurate hydraulic and hydrologic data. The Korean Reach File is the hydraulic database with the locational information of individual reaches, and each reach represents the stream reach of homogeneous hydraulic characteristics. In detail, it has reach code designating each stream reach, and topological information including catalog unit, segment, marker and index. It was also designed considering linkage of existing codes such as stream name and stream code. The devised reach code was implemented to Kyungan River at the City of Gwangju of Kyunggi Province and the results showed that the reach code could effectively support the input database integrating basic numerous data required for water quality modeling based on a criterion as well as easier linkage and utilization with existing database. In addition, more systematic water quality management was enabled through the linkage of existing data such as treatment facilities, pollutant data, and management institutes using the reach codes defined for each stream section. In the future, more efforts need to be made to adopt the reach code as the national standard data thereby enabling utilization of numerous relevant database through the assigning of reach code to individual stream reaches nationwide.

Three dimensional urban models are being increasingly applied for various purposes such as city planning, telecommunication cell planning, traffic analysis, environmental monitoring and disaster management. In recent years, technologies from CAD and GIS are being merged to find optimal solutions in three dimensional modeling of urban buildings. These solutions include modeling of the interior building space as well as its exterior shape visualization. Research and development effort in this area has been performed by scientists and engineers from Computer Graphics, CAD and GIS. Computer Graphics and CAD focussed on precise and efficient visualization, where as GIS emphasized on topology and spatial analysis. Complementary research effort is required for an effective model to serve both visualization and spatial analysis purposes. This study presents an efficient way of using the CAD plans included in the building register documents to reconstruct the internal space of buildings. Topological information was built in the geospatial database and merged with the geometric information of CAD plans. as well as other attributal data from the building register. The GIS network modeling method introduced in this study is expected to enable an effective 3 dimensional spatial analysis of building interior which is developing with increasing complexity and size.
A analytical model is developed which can simulate a complete inelastic biaxial moment-curvature relations of a reinforced concrete column. The model can simulate sudden drop in moment capacity after peak moment and due to spalling of cover concrete. Parametric studies are performed examine the effects of constituent material properties as well as topological arrangement of reinforcements on moment-curvature relations and P-M interaction curve. It has been analytically observed that ductility of a reinforced concrete column is influenced mostly by magnitude of the axial load and spacings or the volume of lateral reinforcements. Compared to ACI P-M interaction curve, overall increase about 10% in square root of sum of squares of axial force and moment, and about 20% in peak load are observed for the columns reinforced according to ACI seismic design code.
The purpose of this study is to understand the current status and trends of the research studies published by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics which is a leader in the field of industrial mathematics around the world. To perform this purpose, titles and abstracts were collected from 6,255 research articles between 2016 and 2019, and the R program was used to analyze the topic modeling model with LDA techniques and a regression model. As the results of analyses, first, a variety of studies have been studied in the fields of industrial mathematics, such as algebra, discrete mathematics, geometry, topological mathematics, probability and statistics. Second, it was found that the ascending research subjects were fluid mechanics, graph theory, and stochastic differential equations, and the descending research subjects were computational theory and classical geometry. The results of the study, based on the understanding of the overall flows and changes of the intellectual structure in the fields of industrial mathematics, are expected to provide researchers in the field with implications of the future direction of research and how to build an industrial mathematics curriculum that reflects the zeitgeist in the field of education.
Three-dimensional modeling of cities in the real-world is an essential task for city planning and decision-making. And many three-dimensional city models are being developed with the development of wireless Internet and location-based services that identify the location of users and provide the information increases for consumers. Especially, in case of urban areas of Korea, indoor space modeling as well as outdoor is needed due to the high-rise buildings densities. Also location-based services should be provided through spatial analysis such as the shortest path based on a space model. Many studies of three-dimensional city models are feature models. In a feature model, space is represented by combining primitives, and relationships among spaces are represented only if shared primitives are detected. So relationships between complex three-dimensional objects in space is difficult to be defined through the feature models. In this study, Navigable space-relation model(NSRM) is developed, which is topological data model for efficient representation of spatial relationships between objects based on the network structure.
Based on the social network analysis(SNA), this study examines the structural and spatial characteristics of the actor networks of the manufacturing industries for the elderly. In the field of economic geography, former researches on network have mainly focused on the network governance. However, this study focused on the social network analysis. Centrality indexes are used to analyze the topological structure of actor networks of firms and organizations. In order to investigate the spatial structure of actor networks, not only the regional distribution of actors but also the correlation between centrality index and distance are analyzed. Network matrixes among actors are transformed to network matrixes among regions using block modeling method to reveal the spatial characteristics of the actor networks. In spite of the importance of the Capital Region, networks in the non-Capital Region like Chungnam and Pusan were showed high network density. This suggested that some kinds of policy project operating in the non-Capital Region had the influence on this network in the initial stage of industry.

Recently, the requirements of multi-resolution models of a solid model, which represent an object at multiple levels of feature detail, are increasing for engineering tasks such as analysis, network-based collaborative design, and virtual prototyping and manufacturing. The research on this area has focused on several topics: topological frameworks for representing multi-resolution solid models, criteria for the level of detail (LOD), and generation of valid models after rearrangement of features. As a solution to the feature rearrangement problem, the new concept of the effective zone of a feature is introduced in the former part of the paper. In this paper, we propose a feature-based non-manifold modeling system to provide multi-resolution models of a feature-based solid or non-manifold model on the basis of the effective feature zones. To facilitate the implementation, we introduce the class of the multi-resolution feature whose attributes contain all necessary information to build a multi-resolution solid model and extract LOD models from it. In addition, two methods are introduced to accelerate the extraction of LOD models from the multi-resolution modeling database: the one is using an NMT model, known as a merged set, to represent multi-resolution models, and the other is storing differences between adjacent LOD models to accelerate the transition to the other LOD. We also suggest the volume of the feature, regardless of feature type, as a criterion for the LOD. This criterion can be used in a wide range of applications, since there is no distinction between additive and subtractive features unlike the previous method.
This paper suggests a new process structuring method, which we call process modularization, for decomposing and grouping activities in a process. Above all, we propose the concept of a module that is a group of activities positioned on the same flow before and after control constructs. Since activities in a module are relatively strongly interrelated with one another, it is important to take into consideration of these together. A design structure matrix (DSM) is used to structure the process because it has a lot of advantages in process modeling and analysis. We developed two algorithms: the restricted topological sorting (RTS) algorithm for ordering activities and the module finding (MF) algorithm for detecting modules in a process, which utilize the DSM. The suggested approach enables a firm's manager to design and analyze the process effectively. We also developed a supporting tool to accelerate the progress of process modularization. The supporting tool aids the process manager in finding the module and understanding the process structure easily. An illustrative example is addressed to show operations of the suggested approach.
