A transmission designed with P.T.O(Power Take-Off) axle for agricultural work vehicles including multi-purpose vehicles has been developed. It is focused on the 4-wheel drive transmission of synchronous contact type for practical use in fruit tree households which is required for a large-sized agricultural vehicle. Concerning to the specification performed, the load capacity is from 500kg to 1,000kg and the safety should be secured for passengers. In addition, the driving condition should also be secured under bad situations of the topographic slope, swampy land and the rest. In order to carry out above tests, a prototype vehicle through strength analysis of transmission design has been manufactured. Consequently, optimal design conditions on the power transmission with multi-purpose vehicle for various jobs are proposed such as an indication of optimal RPM and torque at a certain work situation. The performance test through the prototype of multi-purpose work vehicle is performed and the related data base is achieved. Finally, it is improved on troubles by the analysis of the results of R&D and provided the solutions on problems occurring to mass production in the future.

This paper is intended to propose a novel approach to select an optimal site for a small-scaled artificial recharge system installation using TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) with geospatial data. TOPSIS is a MCDM (Multi-Criteria Decision Making) method to choose the preferred one of derived alternatives by calculating the relative closeness to an ideal solution. For applying TOPSIS, in the first, the topographic shape representing optimal recovery efficiency is defined based on a hydraulic model experiment, and then an appropriate surface slope is determined for the security of a self-purification capability with DEM (Digital Elevation Model). In the second phase, the candidate areas are extracted from an alluvial map through a morphology operation, because local alluvium with a lengthy and narrow shape could be satisfied with a primary condition for the optimal site. Thirdly, a shape file over all candidate areas was generated and criteria and their values were assigned according to hydrogeologic attributes. Finally, TOPSIS algorithm was applied to a shape file to place the order preference of candidate sites.

A LiDAR technique has the merits that survey engineers can get a large number of measurements with high precision quickly. Aerial photos and satellite sensor images are used for generating 3D spatial images which are matched with the map coordinates and elevation data from digital topographic files. Also, those images are used for matching with 3D spatial image contents through perspective view condition composed along to the designated roads until arrival the corresponding location. Recently, 3D aviation image could be generated by various digital data. The advanced geographical methods for guidance of the destination road are experimented under the GIS environments. More information and access designated are guided by the multimedia contents on internet or from the public tour information desk using the simulation images. The height data based on LiDAR is transformed into DEM, and the real time unification of the vector via digital image mapping and raster via extract evaluation are transformed to trace the generated model of 3-dimensional downtown building along to the long distance for 3D tract model generation.

The bundle adjustment used in photogrammetric data reduction is based on the collinearity condition. Photogrammetry has been used in many non-topographic applications. Due to the necessities of having fiducial marks and knowing initial approximations for interior and exterior orientation elements in bundle adjustment, it cannot be applied when non-metric cameras are used. Marzan and Karara develop the DLT(Direct Linear Transformation) program which directly transforms comparator coordinates into object space coordinates without approximate values. In this paper, several modifications of original DLT program have been made for accuracy improvement in close-range photogrammetry using non-metric cameras. In modified program, gross error detection method and computation of exterior orientation elements are incorporated, and more iterations are introdued.
Mt. Paektu(2,749.6m)m the biggest mountain in Northeast Asia, located on the border line of Korea and China is characterized as an aspite with broad gentle mountain area and rich biota. however, it seems that the study of forest vegetational feature or vegetation zones in the whole area of this mountain is not yet sufficient in spite of contribution by many investigators. in this paper thermal climatic approach was carried out for the determination of vegetation zones of the mountain with the meteorological data of four stations including Cheonjj and various vegetational data. the application of Warmth Index and/or coldness Index(Kira 1977) for the determination of forest vegetation boundary was useful also here, and their boundaries largely coincided with those of thermal indicies obtained in the Korean Peninsula(Yim and Kira, 1975), including the lapse rate of air temperature along increasing elevation. However, in the mountain the boundary of vegetation zones in not clear like those of mountains in Korea. It may be due so the topographic differences between this area and the Korean Peninsula. Besides, the broad ecotones between different vegetations in this area support the vegetation continum concept rather than the unit concept, and the limit of timber line or tree line reflects various hypothesis(Steven and fox 1991). Therefore, for the explantion of vegetation zone of this area should be considered topography or soil condition, for example, as known the hierachy of ecological units (zonobiomes, orobiomes and pedobiomes, Walter, 1973).
An integration study of time-variable small watershed and stream models (USEPA's SWMM and WASP5) was performed for impact assessment of urbanization on water environment. The study area, the Kyoungan Stream, the tributary of Paldang Lake, was divided into 111 subbasins, based on the topographic condition, land use, and drainage system. RUNOFF block of SWMM was applied to estimate runoff flow and quality. EXTRAN block computed daily and hourly flow according to simulated runoff flow, water supply, and drainage data. SWMM was connected to WASP5 by transforming output file of SWMM into input file of WASP5. The nonpoint source loads and flow data of SWMM were imported to WASP5. The stream was divided into 45 segments based on the watershed delineation. The study included three water quality parameters, BOD, TN, and TP. The validate models were used to examine the impact of urbanization on stream flow and water quality.

Since restoration of damaged geomorphological sites is almost impossible, it is necessary, to select and conserve geomorphological heritages in a preemptive action. Algific (=producing cold) sites are one of the natural resources which have not been protected well due to the lack of understanding of their value, despite their conservation importance. This research aimed to help people to recognize such geosites' actual value and make them understand the necessity of protecting these sites. Algific areas are valuable by the simple fact that it is a mysterious phenomenon in which the ice forming may happen even in the mid-summer and the environment is always cool. Algific sites deserve geomorphological research in the sense that topographic condition called talus causes this phenomenon. They are also valuable in plant geographic sense because northern rare plants survive isolatedly due to low-temperature environment of these sites. Their cultural-historical value is also high by the fact that they have been connected closely with local residents' lives shown by its nicknames, "natural refrigerator" or "natural air conditioner".

Sixty four percent of Korean territory consists of forest which is fragile for forest fire. However, it is difficult to detect the disaster-induced damages due to topographic complexity in mountainous areas and harsh weather conditions. For this reason, satellite imaging systems have been widely utilized to detect the damage caused by forest fire. In particular, ground vegetation condition can be estimated from multi-spectral satellite images and change detection technique has been used to detect forest fire damages. However, since Korea has clear four seasons, simple change detection technique has limitation. In this regard, this study applied the NDVI(normalized difference vegetation index) annual cycle modeling technique on time-series of Landsat images from 1991 to 2007 to analyze influence of forest fire of Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do in 2005 on vegetation condition. The encouraging result was obtained when comparing the areas where forest fire occurs with non-damaged areas. The mean value of NDVI was decreased by 0.07 before and after the forest fire. On the other hand, annual variability of NDVI had been increasing and peak value of NDVI was stationary after the forest fire. It is interpreted that understory vegetation was seriously damaged from the forest fire occurred in 2005.
Geo-hazard shows a rapid increasing tendency with establishment of frequent great slopes in various construction sites, especially in the unfavorable topographic condition in which about 70% of the surface is covered by the mountainous area. An repeatedly taking place on the heavy rain season is accompanied by a large scale of rockfall, and causes great damage to an individual as well as a property. Even though lots of field studies and fundamental studies have been performed to reduce this hazard, however, an essential study on the mechanism of the rockfall should be limited to the conventional studies on the slope reinforcement and/or the rockfall risk analysis. In this study, the mechanism of rockfall depending on the morphologic characteristics of slope has been simulated numerically with the PFC2D, one of the discrete element programs. For analyzing its mechanism, the input parameters relating to the slope such as surface condition, gradient, number of benches, bench gradient, and the ratio of bench width to rockfall size were taken into consideration.
For physical experiments like analogue modeling that designed for studying geological deformation, reproducibility of the deformation is important to guarantee the reliability of the experiment. In this study, the normal fault generated by extensional stress is benchmarked using a sand box model. The scaling factors for the modeling test are considered and the experiments are conducted by setting the appropriate material, extensional stress, and boundary condition in the same way as in a benchmark experiment. In addition, a large centrifuge facility is used to vary the centrifugal acceleration and extension rate in the same sized model to account for the scaling factors of the physical quantity during extensional behavior. At 1 g benchmark condition and a centrifugal field at 10 g, a constant rate of the extensional stress is implemented and the topographic evolution is reliably measured. In this study, the reliability and applicability of large centrifuge model tests are evaluated for formulating experiments designed to study geological deformation.
