This study is on a recombination method for the construction of spatial information products which demands are unpredictably various. The present production method of digital maps is not flexible enough for their reusability because it is not object-oriented but top-down. Each spatial object needs to have particular attributes to be recombined. The demand changes the production method through the reclassification of data and changing the properties. In a user perspective, the bottom-up method can produce on-demand spatial information products including existing digital maps. The method is derived from case studies and theoretical reviews and compared with the existing production method. In the method spatial information products are reclassified by their geometry objects such as point, line, and polygon, with basic attributes, and other related domain attributes. The geometry objects and domain attributes are connected by adding new attributes for their later relationship and management, which make the recombination possible. To prove its usability of the method it is tested for current and future user demands including the national base map, thematic maps and the future spatial information products.
Fault tree is a widely used methodology for analyzing product reliability. The fault trees are usually constructed using the experiences of expert reliability engineers in top-down approaches and have different structures according to each expert's subjectivity. In this work it is tried to find a general method for the fault tree construction based on the function tree that is the result of product function deployment. Based on the function tree, the method has the advantage of resulting an objective fault tree since the faults are defined as the opposite concept of functions. The fault tree construction of this work consists of the following steps: 1) definition of product primary function with the viewpoints of product operation and configuration, 2) construction of functional relation chart using a grouping algorithm, 3) abstraction of functional block diagram according to operation sequences and configuration of a product, 4) construction of function tree for each viewpoint, and 5) construction of fault tree by matching the function tree and simplification of the result.

The waterproofing material can be roughly divided into a coating material and a sheet waterproofing material. In the case of coating waterproofing materials, sheet waterproofing materials, which are easy to use in terms of workability and quality control, have been recently used because of their incomplete use of coating thickness, long curing time and poor blending due to in situ blending. However, in the case of the sheet waterproofing material, since the sheet overlapping portion is inevitably generated, various defects (breakage due to the behavior) are frequently observed. Therefore, it is imperative to establish fundamental measures to minimize this.

This paper presents a mathematical model for optimizing earthwork allocation plan that minimizes earthwork cost. The model takes into account operational constraints in the real-world earthwork such as material-type (i.e., quality level of material) and quantities excavated from cut-sections, required quality of material and quantities for each embankment layer, top-down cutting and bottom-up filling constraints, and allocation orders. These constraints are successfully handled by assuming the rock-earth material as the three dimensional (3D) blocks. The study is of value to project scheduler because the model identifies the optimal earth allocation plan (i.e., haul direction (cut and fill pairs), quantities of soil, type of material, and order of allocations) expeditiously and is developed as an automated system for usability. It is also relevant to estimator in that it computes more realistic earthworks costs estimation. The economic impact and validity of the mathematical model was confirmed by performing test cases.

Cost information in the Korean construction industry is mainly controlled by the government agencies. However, there have been wild-spread speculations among participants on the adequacy of these unit prices and difference with the actual market condition. Korean public-led unit prices are developed using mainly a top-down approach by a few designated public institutions. Due to the rapid fluctuations in market prices and high-volume of information, it is impossible for a few public institutions to properly consider market conditions. However, there are almost none private cost reference while many are available in other countries to supplement the public cost references. Needs for private cost references have recognized, and this study can be seen as a pilot study to support them. This study attempts to identify the problem areas of Korean cost references and to provide guidance by benchmarking other countries. This study has confirmed the need of developing market-driven cost references by employing a bottom-up approach in which a large number of various construction participants are fostered to provide their own cost information and share with others. It is envisioned that this study provides foundations for further study on the development on-line construction market platform based on abundant and appropriate cost information.

Underground structures are built into concrete like a architecture and public works. Concrete has watertightness as such, But buildings are leaking from the cracks. Recently, construction method do a lot of close construction in the downtown area. So architects are using the method for the outer layer of a two-layer wall to save spaces. They have been using Top-down method and waterproof agent method and others to outer layer of a two-layer wall method. But, There are many leakage in underground structure from lack on requirements performance of materials. Therefore, I hope to test the outside Waterproof Method of Ground using Wire-mesh and Non-hardening Viscosity Waterproof. In addition to, I wish to apply as outside waterproof method for the section for the outer layer of a two-layer wall in underground structure.

Domestic dominant method in subcontract cost estimate for comprehensive program management is estimation by referencing similar cases or relying on the experience and expertise of the engaged. However, this method is not reliable due to lack of accuracy, making it harder for clients to plan and budget the program. Since budget itself is roughly estimated, it becomes a source of cost rise in the course of management due to design modifications. Therefore, the client and service providers shall calculate more accurate service cost by applying objective and scientific method in order to minimize cost rise and cost related dispute. Traditional cases, in estimating program management cost, took Top-Down approach based on precedents and experience. On the contrary, this study will categorize management structure into phases and activities, issue WBS for each phase to estimated schedule and cost for each code, and take Bottom-UP approach. By taking this approach named ICEP (Integrated Cost Estimate based on Project), Set project typical model will be developed for service cost estimating, calculate cost by applying project-specific factors. Also, by analyzing progress data and allocated management cost to complement them, more efficient construction management will take shape based on program management cost standards which reflect project-specific features.
This study aims to analyze the research trends on the civic participation in a smart city and to present implications to policy makers, industry professionals and researchers. As rapid urbanization is defining development trend of modern city, urban problems such as transportation, environment, and energy are spreading and intensifying around the city. Countries around the world are introducing smart cities to solve these urban problems and to achieve sustainable development. Recently, many countries are modifying urban planning from top-down to down-up by actively engaging citizens to participate in the urban construction process directly and indirectly. Although the construction of smart cities is being promoted in Korea to solve urban problems, awareness of smart cities and civic participation are low. In order to overcome this situation, discussions on ideas and methods that can increase civic participation in smart cities are continuously being conducted. Therefore, in this study, by collecting publication containing both 'Smart Cities' and 'Participation (Engagement)' in Scopus DB, the topics of related studies were categorized and research trends were analyzed using topic modeling. Through this study, it is expected that it can be used as evidence to understand the direction of civic participation research in smart cities and to present the direction of related research in the future.

The touch down zone (TDZ) and top connection point of the vessel are most critical part of fatigue damage in the steel catenary riser (SCR). In general, the linear soil model has been used to evaluate fatigue performance of SCRs because it gives conservative results in the TDZ. However, the conservative linear soil model shows the limitation to accommodate real behavior in the TDZ as water depth is increased. Therefore, the riser behavior on soft clay seabed is investigated using a nonlinear soil model through time domain approach in this study. The numerical analysis considering various important parameters of the nonlinear soil model such as shear strength at mudline, shear strength gradient and suction resistance force is conducted to check the adoptability and applicability of nonlinear soil model for SCR design.

The slope of an open cut tunnel is located above the exit of the Leijia tunnel on the Changgan high-speed railway. During the excavation of the open cut tunnel foundation pit, the slope slipped twice, a large landslide of 92500 m3 formed. The landslide body and unstable slope body not only caused the foundation pit of the open cut tunnel to be buried and the anchor piles to be damaged but also directly threatened the operational safety of the later high-speed railway. Therefore, to study the stability change in the slope of the open cut tunnel under heavy rain and excavation conditions, a 3D numerical calculation model of the slope is carried out by Midas GTS software, the deformation mechanism is analyzed, anti-sliding measures are proposed, and the effectiveness of the anti-sliding measures is analyzed according to the field monitoring results. The results show that when rainfall occurs, rainwater collects in the open cut tunnel area, resulting in a transient saturation zone on the slope on the right side of the open cut tunnel, which reduces the shear strength of the slope soil; the excavation at the slope toe reduces the anti-sliding capacity of the slope toe. Under the combined action of excavation and rainfall, when the soil above the top of the anchor pile is excavated, two potential sliding surfaces are bounded by the top of the excavation area, and the shear outlet is located at the top of the anchor pile. After the excavation of the open cut tunnel, the potential sliding surface is mainly concentrated at the lower part of the downhill area, and the shear outlet moves down to the bottom of the open cut tunnel. Based on the deformation characteristics and the failure mechanism of the landslides, comprehensive control measures, including interim emergency mitigation measures and long-term mitigation measures, are proposed. The field monitoring results further verify the accuracy of the anti-sliding mechanism analysis and the effectiveness of anti-sliding measures.
