Chain drive power transmission system was developed for a low head hydro-turbine which generates power by energy transformation on the turbine blades attached to chains. Also, experimental and theoretical analysis for the sprocket wheel tooth load distribution were performed. The tooth load was measured by the specially designed load sensor. It was found that the tooth load distribution for the steady state operation was in good accordance with the quasi-static state results showing the peak load at the final meshing tooth. The trend of the experimental results agreed with the theoretical results based on the spring model analysis and difference in the magnitude of the maximum tooth load was considered to be the effect of the variable spring constant due to the moving contact point between the roller and sprocket wheel tooth.

Most of pitch/yaw reducers consist of several planetary geartrains. Planetary geartrains make gearboxes to be small and light, low noise and good efficiency. Most important thing in the planetary geartrain is load distribution on the gear tooth flank. In this study, the effect of output shaft bearings on the load distribution of gear tooth flank has been investigated. The commercial software was employed to compare the load distribution of two models depending on the bearing type. The spherical roller bearing(SRB) and the cylindrical roller bearing(CRB) were used as output shaft bearings in the $1^{st}$ model, and two taper roller bearings(TRB) were used in the $2^{nd}$ model. As a result, it was found that the $2^{nd}$ model. showed better performances on the load distribution of gear tooth flank, this results stated that the output shaft bearing system could be important consideration when designing reducers for wind turbine systems.
The long-term success of any dental implant is dependent upon the optimization of stresses which occur during oral function and parafunction. Especially, it has been suggested that there is an unique set of problems associated with joining an osseointegrated implant and a natural tooth with a fixed partial denture. For this particular case, although many literatures suggest different ways to avoid high stress concentrations on the bone surrounding the implant under static and dynamic loading conditions, but few studies on the biomechanical efficacy of each assertion have been reported. The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate the efficacies of clinically suggested methods on stress distribution under static load and shock absorption under dynamic load, using two dimensional finite element method. In FEM models of osseointegrated implant-natural tooth supported fixed partial dentures, calculations were made on the stresses in surrounding bone and on the deflections of abutments and superstructure, first, to compare the difference in stress distribution effects under static load by the flexure of fastening screw or prosthesis, or intramobile connector, and second, to compare the difference in the shock absorption effects under dynamic load by intramobile connector or occlusal veneering with composite resin. The results of this analysis suggest that : 1. Under static load condition, using an implant design with fastenign screw connecting implant abutment and prosthesis or increasing the flexibility of fastening screw, or increasing the flexibility of prosthesis led to the .increase in height of peak stresses in cortical bone surrounding the implant, and has little effect on stress change in bone around the natural tooth. 2. Under static load condition, intramobile connector caused the substantial decrease in stress concentration in cortical bone surrounding the implant and the slight increase in stress in bone around the natural tooth. 3. Under dynamic load condition, both intramobile connector and composite resin veneering showed shock absorption effect on bone surrounding the implant and composite resin veneering had a greater shock absorption effect than intramobile connector.

In recent years, world is faced with a transportation energy dilemma, and the transportation is dependent on a single fuel - petroleum. However, Hybrid Electric Vehicle(HEV) technology holds more advantages to reduce the demand for petroleum in the transportation by efficiency improvements of petroleum consumption. Therefore, there is a trend that lower gear noise levels are demanded in HEV for drivers to avoid annoyance and fatigue during operation. And meshing transmission error(T.E.) is the excitation that leads to the tonal noise known as gear whine, and radiated gear whine is also the dominant source of noise in the whole gearbox. This paper presents a method for the analysis of gear tooth profile and lead modification, and the predictions of transmission error and load distribution are shown under one loaded torque for the 1st gear pair of HEV gearbox. The test is also obtained before tooth micro-modification under the torque. At last, the appropriate tooth modification is used to minimize the transmission error and load distribution under the loaded torque. It is a good approach which the simulated result is used to improve the design in order to minimize the radiation gear whine noise.

The purpose of this study is to develop a computer simulation program for analyzing load transmission characteristics of a helical gear system in design stage. In this analysis, the rotational delay, load distribution, root stress, and contact area are investigated. That is, the influence function of deflection is obtained by finite element analysis and the influence function of approach and gear tooth error are considered. Load distribution, rotational delay, and contact area are calculated by solving load-deflection equation which includes these influence functions and tooth error, and the influence function of the bending moment is obtained by finite element analysis. The root stress is calculated by the load distribution and the influence function of the bending moment. The results of the simulation are cross-checked through a specially designed experimental set-up.

The wind industry grew in the first decade of the 21st century at rates consistently above 20% a year. For wind turbine, gearbox failure can be extremely costly in terms of repair costs, replacement parts, and in lost power production due to downtime. In this paper, gear tooth micro-modification for the high speed stage was used to compensate for the deformation of the teeth due to load and to ensure a proper meshing to achieve an optimized tooth contact pattern. The gearbox was firstly modeled in a software, and then the various combined tooth modification were presented, and the prediction of transmission under the loaded torque for the helical gear pair was investigated, the normal load distribution and root stress were also obtained and compared before and after tooth modification under one torque. The simulation results showed that the transmission error and normal load distribution under the load can be minimized by the appropriate tooth modification. It is a good approach where the simulated result is used to improve the design before the prototype is available for the test.

The various configuration of thin-shaped bevel gears are used usually for such as main reduction gear of the hovercraft. But the reasonable and concise guide to thedesign of the se bevel gears is not yet obtained, since the tooth of bevel gear has complex form. The purpose of these investigation is to be establish the design guide and to propose the desirable configuration form for thin-shaped straight bevel gear. In this report, the desirable configuration is examined experimentally by clearing up the effect of web and rim thickness, rim support condition upon the load distribution and root stress distribution along the tooth trace. The results are summarized as follows. (1) The crowning of tooth trace exerts a significant effect on the root stress distribution of thin-shaped bevel gear. (2) As the desirable configuration of the thin-shaped bevel gear, it is to be recommended that the rim is supported at the heel side of tooth trace. (3) But, as special type, it is desirable that the rim is supported at the toe side.

This study was to develop a simulation model of a compound planetary gear reducer for the final driving shaft using a gear analysis software (KISSsoft, Version 2017, KISSsoft AG, Switzerland). The aim of this study is to analyze transmission error and the tooth load distribution through micro-geometry using the simulation model. The tip and root relief were modified with Micro-geometry in the profile direction, and crowning was modified with Micro-geometry in the lead direction. The transmission error was analyzed using the PPTE (Peak to Peak Transmission Error) value, and the tooth load distribution was analyzed for the concentrated stress on the tooth surface. As a result of modifying tip and relief in the profile direction, the transmission error was reduced up to 40.7%. In the case of modifying crowning in the lead direction, the tooth load was more evenly distributed than before and decreased the stress on the tooth surface. After modifying the profile direction for the 1st and 2nd planetary gear train, the bending and contact safety factors were increased by 31.7% and 17%, and 18.3% and 12.5% respectively. Moreover, the bending and safety factors after modifying lead direction were increased by 59.5% and 32.7%, respectively for the 1st planetary gear train, and 59.6% and 43.6%, respectively for the 2nd planetary gear train. In future studies, the optimal design of a compound planetary gear reducer for the final driving shaft is needed considering both the transmission error and tooth load distribution.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the stress concentration and distribution whether restoring the cavity or not while restoring with metal ceramic crown on tooth with abfraction lesion using finite element analysis. Materials and methods: Maxillary first premolar was selected and made a total of 10 finite element model. Model 1 was natural tooth; Model 2 was tooth with metal ceramic crown restoration which margin was positioned above 2 mm from CEJ; Model 3 was tooth with metal ceramic crown restoration which margin was positioned on CEJ; Model 4 was natural tooth which has abfraction lesion; Model 5 and 6 had abfraction lesion and the other condition was same as model 2 and 3, respectively; Model 7 was natural tooth which had abfraction lesion restored with composite resin; Model 8 and 9 was tooth with metal ceramic crown after restoring on abfraction lesion with composite resin; Model 10 was restored tooth on abfraction lesion with composite resin and metal ceramic crown restoration which margin is positioned on lower border of abfraction lesion. Load A and Load B was also designed. Von Mises value was evaluated on each point. Results: Under load A or load B, on tooth with abfraction lesion, stress was concentrated on the apex of lesion. Under load A or load B, on tooth that abfraction lesion was restored with composite resin, the stress value was reduced on the apex. Conclusion: In case of abfraction lesion was restored with composite resin, the stress was concentrated on the apical border of restored cavity regardless of marginal position. It was favorable to place crown margin on the enamel for restoring with metal ceramic crown.
Face gear transmission is widely used in aerospace shunt-confluence transmission system. Tooth wear is one of the main factors affecting its bearing transmission performance. Furthermore, the installation errors of face gear are inevitable. In order to study the wear mechanism of face gear tooth surface with installation errors, based on tooth contact analysis numerical method and Archard wear theory, the UMESHMOTION subroutine in ABAQUS is developed.Combining with Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian adaptive mesh technology, the finite element mesh wear model of abraded face gear pair is established. The preprocessing conditions are set to generate the inp files. Then, the inp files for each corner are imported and batch processed in ABAQUS.The loading tooth contact problem at each rotation angle is solved and the load distribution coefficient among gear tooth, tooth root bending stress, tooth surface contact stress and loaded transmission error are obtained. Results show that the tooth root wear is the most serious and the wear at the pitch cone is close to 0.The wear law of tooth surface along tooth width direction is convex parabola and the wear law along tooth height direction is concave parabola.
