  • Fluttering ghost which is the most severs picture impairment in mobile TV reception under multipath fading environments can be detected by measuring the dynamic variation of the synchronizing pulse timing. And also, the occurrence-stucture of fluttering ghost are directly correlated with the multipath parameters. This paper describes the quantitative evaluating method of the mobile TV pictures impaired by multipath parameters by means of the spectral analysis of synchronizing timing fluctuation. The ghost-flutter curve derived from the spatial amplitue spectrum of synchronizing pulse timing fluctuation express well the spatial variation characteristic, and it has been found to be the quantitative evaluating measure of picture impairment in mobile reception. A correspondence between the ghost-flutter curve (and/or index) and picture quality opinion test results is established.

  • 2R 광/전/광 파장변환기는 이미 검증된 기술을 사용하여 간단히 구현할 수 있으며 데이터 전송율을 제한하지 않는다는 장점이 있다. 그러나, 이 방식은 각 파장변환기를 통과하면서 타이밍 지터 성분이 계속 누적되어 cascadability가 제한된다 본 논문에서는 통상적인 정현파 신호 모델 대신 보다 현실적인 비선형 신호 모델을 제안하여 시스템 성능에 미치는 타이밍 지터의 영향 및 2R 광/전/광 파장변환기의 cascadability를 이론적으로 분석하였으며, 40-km re-circulation loop 실험 장치에서 10 Gb/s 신호에 대한 cascadability를 측정하여 계산 결과와 비교하였다.

Issuance of Stock Dividends or Bonus Shares: A Case Study of Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Berhad

  • This study investigates the specific and conclusive reasons why a company issues bonus shares, as well as the rationale and the best timing for bonus share issuance. The study examines Carlsberg's annual reports from 1988 to 2004 to evaluate the factors that influence bonus share payments and timing. Examine supporting evidence from other businesses as well. An analysis of Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Berhad's bonus shares granted from its inception to 2004 found that the announcement of bonus shares would increase the company's share price. As a result, the findings suggest that bonus shares are issued to correct market asymmetry. This research supports the idea that issuing bonus shares would increase the stock price, resulting in increased liquidity. Hence, companies issue bonus shares to boost their liquidity and to convey private positive information to their shareholders. This research adds to the literature by focusing on the timing and key features of bonus share issuing. It implies that dividend policy should be customized to market imperfections. As a result, dividend policies would differ significantly between organizations based on the weights each of the imperfections has on the firm and shareholders.

  • The International Maritime Organization (IMO) states that the recommended horizontal accuracy for coastal and offshore areas is 10 m, the Alert Limit (AL) is 25 m, the time to alert is 10 seconds, and the integrity risk (IR) is 10-5 per three hours. For operations requiring high accuracy, such as tugs and pushers, icebreakers, and automated docking, the IMO dictates that a high level of positioning accuracy of less than one meter and a protection level of 0.25 meters (for automated docking) to 2.5 meters should be achieved. In this paper, we analyze a method of calculating the user-side protection level of the centimeter-level precision Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) that is being studied to provide augmentation information for the precision Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) service. In addition, we analyze standardized integrity forms based on RTCM SC-134 to propose an integrity information form and generate a centimeter-level precise PNT service plan.

  • Residual gas fraction in a combustion process is very crucial to improve combustion and cyclic variations. Especially, the residual gas fraction is strongly affected by backflow of the residual gas during the valve overlap period in an idle operation. Therefore, it is one of the most interesting that valve timings can affect flow characteristics of gas exchange process, especially during idle operation. This analysis investigates residual gas fraction with respect to valve timing changes which is critical for combustion efficiency and engine performance. Flow characteristics of residual gas by changing intake and exhaust valve timing are calculated by CFD methodology during an idle operation in an SI engine. It is analyzed that retarded EVO and advanced IVO results in the increase of valve overlap period and consequently, residual gas fraction. Futhermore, changes in IVO have stronger effects on variation of residual gas fraction.

An Orbital Stability Study of the Proposed Companions of SW Lyncis

  • We have investigated the dynamical stability of the proposed companions orbiting the Algol type short-period eclipsing binary SW Lyncis (Kim et al. 2010). The two candidate companions are of stellar to substellar nature, and were inferred from timing measurements of the system's primary and secondary eclipses. We applied well-tested numerical techniques to accurately integrate the orbits of the two companions and to test for chaotic dynamical behavior. We carried out the stability analysis within a systematic parameter survey varying both the geometries and orientation of the orbits of the companions, as well as their masses. In all our numerical integrations we found that the proposed SW Lyn multi-body system is highly unstable on time-scales on the order of 1000 years. Our results cast doubt on the interpretation that the timing variations are caused by two companions. This work demonstrates that a straightforward dynamical analysis can help to test whether a best-fit companion-based model is a physically viable explanation for measured eclipse timing variations. We conclude that dynamical considerations reveal that the proposed SW Lyncis multi-body system most likely does not exist or the companions have significantly different orbital properties from those conjectured in Kim et al. (2010).

DPIV와 엔트로피 해석방법을 이용한 가시화 엔진내의 유동 특성 및 성층효과에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Flow Characteristics and the Stratification Effects in Visualization Engine Using the DPIV and the Entropy Analysis)

  • The objective of this study is to analyse the spray characteristics according to the injection duration under the ambient pressure condition, and the injection timing in the visualization engine. In order to investigate the spray behavior, we obtained the spray velocity using the PIV method that has been an useful optical diagnostics technology, and calculated the vorticity from spray velocity component. These results elucidated the relationship between vorticity and entropy which play an important role in the diffusion process for the early injection case and the stratification process for the late injection case. In addition, we quantified the homogeneous diffusion rate of spray using the entropy analysis based on the Boltzmann's statistical thermodynamics. Using these method, it was found that the concentration of spray droplets caused by the increase of injection duration is more effective than the increase of momentum dissipation. We also found that the homogeneous diffusion rate increased as the injection timing moved to the early intake stroke process and BTDC $50^{\circ}$ was the most efficient injection timing for the stratified mixture formation during the compression stroke.

  • 본 논문은 1치 논리 시뮬레이션 환경에서 효율적인 헤저드 분석을 위한새로운 TRF( Transition Rise/Fall)지연모델을 제안한다. 주어진 회로에 있어서 헤저드 분석을 수행 하기 위해 우선 응답시간 지연과 천이시간 지연을 허용하는 5치 논리 시뮬레이터 에 의해서 타이밍 분석이 수행되고, 이미 수행된 타이밍 관계를 조사하므로써 헤저드 를 검출할 수 있다.몇 개의 예제회로에 대해서 시뮬레이션을 수행한 결과를 통하여 제안한 방법을 실용성을 입증하였다.

Analysis of the Combined Positioning Accuracy using GPS and GLONASS Navigation Satellites

  • In this study, positioning results that combined the code observation information of GPS and GLONASS navigation satellites were analyzed. Especially, the distribution of GLONASS satellites observed in Korea and the combined GPS/GLONASS positioning results were presented. The GNSS data received at two reference stations (GRAS in Europe and KOHG in Goheung, Korea) during a day were processed, and the mean value and root mean square (RMS) value of the position error were calculated. The analysis results indicated that the combined GPS/GLONASS positioning did not show significantly improved performance compared to the GPS-only positioning. This could be due to the inter-system hardware bias for GPS/GLONASS receivers, the selection of transformation parameters between reference coordinate systems, the selection of a confidence level for error analysis, or the number of visible satellites at a specific time.
