Structure Characterization and Antihypertensive Effect of an Antioxidant Peptide Purified from Alcalase Hydrolysate of Velvet Antler

  • Recently, interest in food-derived bioactive peptides as promising ingredients for the prevention and improvement of hypertension is increasing. The purpose of this study was to determine the structure and antihypertensive effect of an antioxidant peptide purified from velvet antler in a previous study and evaluate its potential as a various bioactive peptide. Molecular weight (MW) and amino acid sequences of the purified peptide were determined by quadrupole time-of-flight electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy. The angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibition activity of the purified peptide was assessed by enzyme reaction methods and in silico molecular docking analysis to determine the interaction between the purified peptide and ACE. Also, antihypertensive effect of the purified peptide in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs) was investigated. The purified antioxidant peptide was identified to be a pentapeptide Asp-Asn-Arg-Tyr-Tyr with a MW of 730.31 Da. This pentapeptide showed potent inhibition activity against ACE (IC50 value, 3.72 μM). Molecular docking studies revealed a good and stable binding affinity between purified peptide and ACE and indicated that the purified peptide could interact with HOH2570, ARG522, ARG124, GLU143, HIS387, TRP357, and GLU403 residues of ACE. Furthermore, oral administration of the pentapeptide significantly reduced blood pressure in SHRs. The pentapeptide derived from enzymatic hydrolysate of velvet antler is an excellent ACE inhibitor. It might be effectively applied as an animal-based functional food ingredient.

중성자 비행시간법을 이용한 인듐의 공명에너지 동정에 관한 연구 (Neutron Capture Resonance Energy Identification of Indium by Time-of-Flight Method)

  • 본 연구는 천연 인듐의 중성자폭획 후에 발생된 감마선을 12개의 BGO($Bi_4Ge_3O_{12}$) 섬광검출기로 구성된 검출장치를 이용하여 즉발감마선을 측정하여 중성자공명에 의해서 발생된 감마선을 분석하여 중성자의 에너지 1 ~ 300 eV 영역에 대하여 공명에너지를 분석하였다. 사용되어진 검출장치는 시료에서 발생된 즉발감마선에 대하여 모든 감마선을 측정할 수 있는 기하학적인 구조로 만들어졌다. 중성자원으로는 교토대학의 원자로연구소의 46-MeV 전자선형가속기의 광핵반응에서 발생하는 중성자를 이용하였다. 중성자발생원으로부터 검출기까지의 거리가 $12.7{\pm}0.02m$이므로 광핵반응에서 발생하는 강한 X선의 영향을 고려하여 수 keV영역이하의 중성자에너지에 대하여 중성자공명을 측정하였다. 측정되어진 공명들은 1 eV이상의 에너지 영역에서 거대 공명들을 측정하였고 이들 공명들은 이론에서 알려진 값들과 비교하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 기존에 알려진 거대 공명의 에너지를 확인하였고, 100 eV이상의 에너지 영역에서의 공명에너지들에 대한 평가에 의한 이론값들이 실제로 존재하는 공명임을 실험적으로 확인하였다. 1 keV 이상의 영역에 대하여는 공명이 연속적인 구조를 보이고 있음을 실험적으로 확인했으며 공명에 대하여 통계적인 평가가 있어야함을 알았다. 91.49 eV 공명은 본 연구를 통하여 처음 발견되어진 공명이라 볼 수 있다.

  • An empirical analysis was conducted on the workload of helicopter pilots flying in high-risk flight environments such as ground obstacles and weather effects at low altitudes. To evaluate the workload, an independent sample t-test was performed using the NASA-TLX evaluation method most suitable for the aviation field, and the workload score was calculated by applying the analytical stratification method (AHP) to compare and analyze private and commercial pilots. There is a significant difference in mean between private and commercial pilots and the result of work load was obtained over 70%. This paper studied the 'surprise and startle effect' on the helicopter field for the first time. In the future, it is intended to contribute to the safe operation of helicopters by presenting a method for effective safety management by utilizing it in the field of education and training for helicopter pilots and providing basic data for preventing accidents caused by human error.

항공여객운송에서의 지연보상과 도착시각의 의미 - EU 사법재판소 2014. 9. 14. 판결(ECLI:EU:C:2014:2141)을 중심으로 - (The Scope and the Meaning of 'Time of Arrival' in Carriage of Passengers by Air : Focused on the Germanwings GmbH v. Ronny Henning, Case C-452/13 (2014).)

  • 항공여객운송에서 항공기 지연 또는 연착은 여객 당사자들에게 상당한 시간적 비용적 문제들을 초래한다. 예상치 못한 항공기 연착에 의해 당사자에게 발생하는 2차, 3차 손해 등을 생각할 때, 여객에 대한 적절한 구제와 보상은 당연히 필요할 것이다. 이와 같은 이유로 항공사들은 항공기 지연이 있을 경우, 여객에게 적절한 보상절차를 마련해 두고 있고, 이는 각 국가의 항공 관련 행정절차상 제도화되어 있는 실정이다. 항공기 연착과 관련해서는 도착시각의 확정과 그 범위설정이 실제로 문제가 되는 경우가 많다. 이는 항공기가 최종 목적지에 도착한 시각을 언제로 볼 것이냐 하는 문제인데, 예를 들어, 항공기가 활주로 도착한 경우를 도착시각으로 볼 것인지, 승객의 하차수속을 위해 항공기가 주기장에 정차한 경우를 도착시각으로 볼 것인지, 아니면 실제로 승객이 하차를 위해 문이 열리는 순간을 도착시각으로 볼 것인지, 명확하지 않다는 것이다. 여기서 활주로 도착이나 주기장 도착 등 각각의 경우 그 시간 차이가 발생하는 경우에는 항공사의 보상유무가 달라지기도 한다. 즉, 최종목적지에서 항공기의 '도착시각'(time of arrival)을 정확하게 언제로 볼 것인가가 실무적으로 문제가 될 수 있다. 이와 관련하여, 2014년 9월 14일 EU 사법재판소에서는 Germanwings GmbH v. Ronny Henning 판결을 통해, 항공기의 도착시각에 관한 법리해석을 판단한 바가 있다. 본 판결에서 재판소는 여객의 하차를 전제로 한 항공기 정지 후 항공기문이 열리는 시각을 항공기 도착시각으로 판단하였다. 이와 같은 항공기 도착시각에 대해서는 본 판결이 EU 사법재판소 차원으로는 최초의 판결이었고, 이에 실무적으로 상당한 주목을 받은 바 있다. 아직 국내에 이 판결이 구체적으로 소개된 바가 없는 것으로 보이는 바, 본 논문에서는 이 판결을 소개하여 항공기 도착시각에 대한 해석기준을 분석해 보고자 하였다. 본 논문에서는 본 사안의 사실관계를 살펴본 후, 제1심, 항소심 및 EU 사법재판소의 판단을 정리해 보았다. 나아가 EU 사법재판소에서 파악한 항공기의 도착시각에 대해 재판소의 법리를 구체적으로 검토하고, 본 판결이 항공여객운송실무상 어떠한 의미를 갖는지 분석해 보았다. 나아가 본 판결이 갖는 몇 가지 문제점들도 함께 생각해 보았다.

The Determination of Stress Distribution in WC-Ni Cemented Carbide Composites by Neutron Diffraction

  • The thermal stress distribution of WC and Ni binder phases In WC-26st.%Ni and WC-6wt.%Ni composites has been investigated over the temperature range 100-900 K using a time-of-flight neutron diffractometer. To determine the stress distribution, the breadths of WC and Ni peaks in the reference powder and the composites were analyzed. The peak breadths were corrected for particle size effect using a procedure based on the integral peak breadth method of particle size-strain analysis. The result shows a broad range of strain, and thus stress, is present in the WC and Ni binder phases of the composites. The strain distribution of both phases broadens as the temperature decreases, and some fraction of total strain distribution of the WC phase remains tensile regardless of the temperature. The strain distribution of the WC phase broadens as the binder content increases, and that of Ni binder phase broadens as the binder content decreases, which means the strain distribution broadens as the absolute value of residual stress increase.

Conduction properties of phosphorescent emitting layers and their application to optimizing white OLEDs

  • The mobility of charge carriers has been investigated in the pristine and phosphorescent materials doped host materials using time-of-flight photoconductivity technique. The field and temperature dependences of the mobility were analyzed with the Gaussian disorder model. Based on these results, we optimized white organic light emitting diodes (WOLEDs) consisting of multi-emitting layers doped with phosphorescent and fluorescent dopants. Especially, we studied the effect of each emitter position and an interlayer on the device characteristics of WOLEDs.

  • The electron drift mobility of poly(4,4'-cyclohexylidenediphenyl carbonate) (PC-Z) doped with 3,5-dimethy-3,5-di-t-butylstilbenequinone(MBSQ), 3,5,3,5-tetra-t-butyl stilbenequinone(TBSQ) and 3,5,3,5-tetra-methyl stilbenequinone(TMSQ) was measured by the time-of-flight technique. The electric field and temperature dependences of the electron drift mobility were discussed with Poole-Frenkel, Arrhenius formulations and non-Arrhenius type of temperature dependence. It was assumed that the hopping sites were Gaussian distribution. Mobility and activation energy of MBSQ were increased with increasing dopant. However, mobilities and activation energy of TBSQ and TMSQ were increased and decreased, respectively.

Fault Diagnosis and Accommodation of Linear Stochastic Systems with Unknown Disturbances

  • An integrated robust fault diagnosis and fault accommodation strategy for a class of linear stochastic systems subjected to unknown disturbances is presented under the assumption that only a single fault may occur at a given time. The strategy is based on the fault isolation and estimation using a bank of robust two-stage Kalman filters and introduction of the additive compensation input for cancelling out the fault's effect on the system. Each filter is set up such that the residual is decoupled from unknown disturbances and fault with the influence vector designed in the filter. Simulation results for the simplified longitudinal flight control system with parameter uncertainties, process and sensor noises demonstrate the effectiveness of the present approach.

Comparative Proteome Analysis of Celastrol-Treated Helicobacter pylori

  • Various preclinical and clinical trials have been conducted the efficacy of celastrol. In data presented in the current manuscript is the first trial to inhibit Helicobacter pylori with celastrol. In this study, the quantitative change of various H. pylori proteins including CagA and VacA by the anti-bacterial effect of celastrol was determined. The anti-H. pylori effects of celastrol was investigated by performing 2-dimensional electrophoresis and additional supporting experiments. After 2-dimensional electrophoresis analysis, spot intensities were analyzed and then each spot was identified using matrix assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) or peptide sequencing using Finnigan LCQ ion trap mass spectrometer (LC-MS/MS). The results show that celastrol has multiple effects on protein expression in H. pylori.
