In this paper, we propose to employ a ternary sequence as a cyclic code shift keying (CCSK) modulation sequence. And we simulate the performance in a frequency hopping spread spectrum/time division multiple access (FHSS/TDMA) system with CCSK. Wireless channel is modeled as Rayleigh fading channel. From the simulation results, it is demonstrated that the system adopting the ternary sequence as a CCSK sequence has higher performance than that with a random sequence.
DS-CDMA is used to widely spread spectrum for a cellular mobile digital communication that maximizing users- capacity at the limited frequency bandwidth, solving technical matters with the channel. Especially, the capability of a spread spectrum receiver relied on fast code acquisition time at the demodulation. In this paper, we considered that fast code acquisition time when a spread spectrum system is designed, and existed code acquisition system set up one code epoch on a position at initial processing, but the proposed code acquisition system improved that two code epoch are set up at the same time, therefore code acquisition time is diminished in effect. Recently, Switching time is the principal factor in a design of frerquency synthesizer for Spread-Spectrum Communications. fast switching frequency synthesizer is important to improve the channel efficiency in a Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FH-SS) tranceiver. In this paper, we design the frequency synthesizer with fast switching time as fast as 1${\mu}\textrm{s}$. In frequency synthesizer design, we use the interpolated PLL method inserted memory Look-up table of DDS to reduce switching time, and have result of improved channel efficiency about 20% by applying to FH-SS Transceiver.

Several studies have developed upward flame spread models which use somewhat different features. However, the models have not considered the transient effects of the igniter and the burning rate. Thus, the objective of this study is to examine a generalized upward flame spread model which includes these effects. We shall compare the results with results from simpler models used in the past in order to examine the importance of the simplifying assumptions. We compare these results using PMMA, and we also include experimental results for comparison. The results of the comparison indicate that flame velocity depends on the thermal properties of a material, the specific model for flame length and transient burning rate, as well as other variables including the heat flux by igniter and flame itself. The results from the generalized upward flame spread model can provide a prediction of flame velocity, flame and pyrolysis height, burnout time and position, and rate of energy output as a function of time.
Scattering by Sea surface roughness occurs due to sea level roughness, communication performance deteriorates by causing frequency spread in communication signals and time variation in communication channels. In order to compare the difference in time variation of underwater acoustic communication channel according to the surface roughness, an experiment was performed in a tank owned by Hanyang University Ocean Acoustics Lab. Artificial surface roughness was created in the tank and communication signals with three bandwidths were used (8 kHz, 16 kHz, 32 kHz). The measured surface roughness was converted into a Rayleigh parameter and used as a roughness parameter, and statistical analysis was performed on the time-varying channel characteristics of the surface path using Doppler spread and correlation time. For the Doppler spread of the surface path, the Weighted Root Mean Square Doppler spread (wfσν) that corrected the effect of the carrier frequency and bandwidth of the communication signal was used. Using the correlation time of the surface path and the energy ratio of the direct path and the surface path, the correlation of total channels was simulated and compared with the measured correlation time of total channels. In this study, we propose a method for efficient communication signal design in an arbitrary marine environment by using the time-varying characteristics of the sea surface path according to the sea surface roughness.

In this paper a super-resolution time delay estimation algorithm is developed for real-time locating systems (RTLSs) that employ a direct-sequence spread spectrum technique, along with its performance analysis in multipath environments. The classical correlation method provides relatively good performance in line-of-sight (LOS) environments but its performance seriously degrades in multipath environments, especially when signals are spaced closer than a PN chip. Therefore we shall develop a super-resolution time delay estimation algorithm that may estimate the time delays of multipath signals even in closely spaced multipath environments using the MUSIC algorithm for direction-of-arrival estimation and analyze its performance by applying the algorithm to the ISO/IEC 24730-2.1 RTLS system.
Experimental investigation on flame spread of blended fuel droplet arrays has been conducted for droplet diameters of 1.0mm and 0.75mm using high-speed chemiluminescence images of OH radical. The flame spread rate is measured with blended fuel composition, droplet diameter, and droplet spacing. Flame spread is categorized into two: a continuous mode and an intermittent one. There exist a limit droplet spacing, above which flame does not spread, and a droplet spacing of maximum flame spread, which is closely related to flame diameter. It is seen that flame spread rate is mainly dependent upon the relative position of flame zone within a droplet spacing. In case of large droplet, the increase of % volume of Heptane induces the shift of limit droplet spacing to a larger spacing since volatile Heptane plays a role of an enhancer of flame spread rate. In case of small droplet, the increase of % volume of Heptane leads to the shift of limit droplet spacing to a smaller droplet spacing. This is so because of the delayed chemical reaction time by the rapid increase of mass flux of fuel vapor for small droplet.

In this paper the super-resolution time delay estimation algorithms based on eigen-analysis are developed for spread spectrum signals along with their comparative performance analysis. First, we shall develop super-resolution time delay estimation algorithms using the representative eigen-analysis based AOA (angle-of-arrival) estimation algorithms such as MUSIC, Minimum-Norm, and ESPRIT, and apply them to the ISO/IEC 24730-2.1 real-time locating system (RTLS) employing a direct sequence spread spectrum (DS-SS) technique to compare their performances in RTLS environments. Simulation results illustrate that all the three algorithms can resolve multipath signals whose delay differences are even smaller than the Rayleigh resolution limit. Simulation results also show that MUSIC and Minimum-Norm provide a similar performance while ESPRIT is inferior to both algorithms in RTLS environments.

Large fires continue to spread throughout the building, including the fire in Uijeongbu in 2015, the fire in Jecheon in 2017, and the fire in Miryang in 2018. According to the above fire case investigation, major problems were the fire resistance performance of compartment members such as fire doors, the fire spread due to damage to exterior wall openings, and smoke spread through vertical openings. However, in South Korea, only specification design is implemented for buildings that are not subject to performance design. In addition, the analysis of the fire resistance performance standards of building members in the specification design showed that fire doors were not specified in detail for 60 minutes of insulation performance and 60 minutes of fire resistance performance of E/V doors, limiting the prevention of fire spread. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to prepare measures to prevent the spread of fire by presenting simple transplants for calculating the required fire time according to the architectural design conditions for the performance design of the components of the fire room according to the purpose of use of the front of the building.
The flow behaviors of three thickened fruit juices (orange, apple, and grape juice) prepared with a commercial instant xanthan gum (XG)-based thickener that is marketed in Korea were investigated at different thickener concentrations (1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0%, 2.5%, 3.0%, and 3.5%) and setting times (5 and 30 min) using a rheometer and a line-spread measurement method. The flow distance values measured by the line-spread test (LST) were compared with the apparent viscosity (${\eta}_{a,50}$) values measured with a sophisticated computer-controlled rheometer. The ${\eta}_{a,50}$ values of the juices increased as thickener concentration increased, whereas their flow distances decreased. The ${\eta}_{a,50}$ values at the 30-min setting time were much higher than those at the 5-min setting time, indicating that the setting time before serving or consuming thickened juices can affect viscosity values. Plots comparing ${\eta}_{a,50}$ values to LST flow distances revealed strong exponential relationships between the two measures ($R^2$=0.989 and $R^2$=0.987 for the 5- and 30-min setting times, respectively). These results indicate that the LST can be a suitable instrument for evaluating the viscosity of thickened fruit juices prepared with different XG-based thickener concentrations and setting times for the dysphagia diet.
