In this paper, we propose a rate control algorithm for constant quality real time video coding. To achieve constant quality, previous algorithm exploit mean absolute of difference(MAD) as measure of frame complexity. However, if scene is abruptly changed or if quantization parameter is not constant, encoder produces various output bits with same MAD. Therefore we know that MAD does not appropriately reflect characteristic of frame. To solve this problem, we exploit model parameter as measure of frame complexity. Because model parameter means slope between output bits and MAD, it reflects correctly complexity of frame. And because previous model, R-MAD model, is not considered quantization parameter, as quantization parameter increases or decreases, model parameter of frame also vary. So model parameter obtained using previous model cannot reflect internal characteristic of video. We solve this problem using proposed model, which is considered quantization parameter. Experiment results show that our algorithm provide better performance, in terms of quality smoothness than previous algorithm. Especially, when scene is abruptly changed, our algorithm alleviates quality drop.
A digital adaptive flight control system is presented for a Japanese automatic landing flight experiment vehicle (ALFLEX). In previous adaptive control systems based on a linear-parameter-varying (LPV) form, the output behavior was excellent, while the behavior of the adjusted parameters was unsatisfactory. In the present study, to obtain a more appropriate parameter adjustment law, the relationship between the coefficient matrices in a continuous-time state equation and the coefficients of a pulse transfer function in a discrete system for conventional aircraft is investigated. As a result, it is revealed that the coefficients of the numerator can be treated as a linear function of dynamic pressure (linear-parameter-varying: LPV), while the coefficients of the denominator can be treated as constant (linear-time-invariant: LTI). From the above analysis, an improved parameter adjustment law is derived by reducing the number of the adjustment parameters. Simulation results also revealed both good output tracking and good parameter adjustment compared with the previous results.

The universal model for the parameter estimation of the Storage Function Model(SFM) was developed through the applications of the distributed model for various hypothetical watersheds and runoff conditions. The existing parameter estimation equations are based on observations and these equations which are derived from the restricted conditions are not sensitive to the variation of physical characteristics of a watershed. This study developed the universal model for the parameter estimation through the runoff simulations of 35,000 times. As the simulation results, we have known that the lag time is related to the longest stream channel characteristics and the storage coefficient is related to the watershed characteristics.

AVR parameter tuning for voltage control of power system generators has generally been performed with the analytic methods and the simulation methods, which mostly depend on off-line linear mathematical models of excitation control system. However, due to the nonlinear nature of excitation control system, excitation control system performance of the tuned Parameters using the above conventional tuning methods may not be appropriate for some operating conditions. This paper presents an AVR parameter tuning method using actual on-line data of the excitation control system with the parameter optimization technique. As this method utilizes on-line operating data of the target excitation control system not the mathematical model of the system, it can overcome the limitation of model uncertainty Problems in conventional method, and it can tune the AVR parameter set which gives desired performance at the operating conditions. For the verification of proposed tuning method, two case studies with scaled excitation systems and the real-time power system simulator are presented.
This paper proposed an analyzable parameter and its analytic method to provide more accurate information than currently employed 4 channels system which uses pulse wave velocity (PWV) information of the volume pulse wave measured from 4 arterial channels for the characterization of arterial vessel. In order to verify the volume pulse waves on 4 sites were simultaneously acquired subjects aged from 12 to 81 years old. and the proposed parameters were extracted from time (UT) was then compared with blood pressure. Then, the regression analyses were done relationships among the proposed parameter and others, such as aging, pulse transit time pressure (BP). The followings are the results of linear regression analysis of the proposed parameter for total 50 normal subjects. We selected any two subjects (58 years and 27 years) and measured PPG (photoplethysmogram) and BP of before and after exercise. The coefficient of correlations between BP and UT observed was -0.928 for 50 years subject, and -0.922 for 20 years subject. For total 50 normal subjects, in case of correlation between the pulse transit time and BP, the result showed -0.170 on left side and -0.233 on right side, and the coefficient value of correlation between the pulse transit time and UT was -0.607 on left side and -0.510 on right side. UI is strongly correlated with the pulse transit time than BP. Hence, we believe that the proposed parameter is related with the index of arterial stiffness.

This paper discusses Robust $H{\infty}$ control problems for networked control systems (NCSs) with time delays and subject to norm-bounded parameter uncertainties. Based on a new discrete-time model, two approaches of robust controller design are proposed. A numerical example and experimental verification with an NCS test bed are given to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of proposed design methodologies.

In order to monitor the tool wear in milling operation, cutting force is measured as the tool wear increased. The digital signal processing methods are used to detect the tool wear . As AR parameter extract the feature of tool wear , it can be used as input parameter of pattern classifier. The FFT monitor the tool wear exactly , but it can not do real time signal processing. The band energy method can be used to real time monitoring of tool wear ,but int can degrade the exact monitoring.
In this paper, we deal with a quadratic stabilization by $H^{\infty}$ output feedback controllers with adjustable parameters. The designed controller contains a contractive time-varying gain which can be used to adjust the responses of the resulting closed-loop system. The free parameter expressed as time-varying gain is chosen so that a Lyapunov function of the closed-loop system descends as fast as possible. A numerical example is given to show the validity of proposed method..

PERT formulae for the mean and variance of activity time are near exact only over a short interval of the concentration parameter which is defined as the sum of the two shape parameters of the beta distribution. Aiming a better estimation of the mean and variance of activity time, we propose a method of subjectively estimating this concentration parameter via estimating the probability of completing the activity within a specified time interval.

A bivariate exponential distribution with a location parameter is proposed as a model for a two-component shared load system with a guarantee time. Some statistical properties of the proposed model are investigated. The maximum likelihood estimators and uniformly minimum variance unbiased estimators of the parameters, mean time to failure, and the reliability function of system are obtained with unknown guarantee time. Simulation studies are given to illustrate the results.
