  • Timed Petri Net(TPN) is one of methods to model and to analyze Discrete Event Dynamic Systems(DEDSs) with real time values. It has two time values, earliest firing time ($\alpha$$_{i}$) and latest firing time ($\beta$$_{I}$) for the each transition. A transition of TPN is fired at arbitrary time of time interval ($\alpha$$_{I}$, $\beta$$_{i}$). Uncertainty of firing time gives difficulty to analyze and estimate a modeled system. In this paper, we proposed the Fuzzy Transition Timed Petri Net(FTTPN) with fuzzy theory to determine the optimal transition time (${\gamma}$$_{i}$). The transition firing time (${\gamma}$$_{i}$) of FTTPN is determined from fuzzy controller which is modeled with information of state transition. Each of the traffic signal controllers are modeled using the proposed method and timed petri net. And its Performance is evaluated by simulation of traffic signal controller. controller.

  • Some context is characterized by a single event in computing environment, but many other contexts are determined by a lot of things which occur with a space and a time. The Realtime Embedded System context-awareness service that interacts with the physical space can have property such as time. The exceptional behaviors of the system that interact with physical space can result in critical damage and cause danger to the operation of an embedded system. we propose an approach which should include spatio-temporal property and exceptional management in the context model, and verify its effectiveness using an expanded Petri-Net. The context-awareness service modeling of an embedded system is discussed the properties of model such as basic Petri-Net, patterned Petri-Net, or Spatio-temporal Petri-Net for the exceptional behaviors of the system. The proposed methodology demonstrated using an example that is emergency medical service. The use of expanded Petri-Net will contribute not only to develop the application but also to model the spatio-temporal context awareness for the exceptional handling.

  • The petri net is a graphic model which is adaptable in modeling a complex concurrent parallel ssystem, and it is widely used in the fields of industrial enginering, computer science, electric engineeringand chemistry. Recently, the net is applied to the communication protocol, and extended to represent complex systems. There are several extended petri nets named as TPN (timed petri net), SPN (stochastic petri net), FPN(fuzzy petri net) and TFPN(timed fuzzy petri net). Accodingly, this SPN (stochastic petri net), FPN (fuzzy petri net) and TFPN(timed fuzzy petri net). Accodingly, this paper proposes an advanced communication protocol modeling method using the fuzzy value of the transition and firing delay time as the arguments of the function. The proposed method can produce clearer firing rules, and it is supposed to be used to design and analyse communication protocols in great effection.

  • Recently, in sequence control systems, high flexibility and maintenance of control software are required. This is because product life cycles become shorter and control specification must be changed frequently. The authors extend the concept of Safe Petri Net to develop the design and analysis tool for sequence control systems taking the safeness and notation of input/output functions into consideration. Extended Safe Petri Net (S-Net) is proposed as such a new graph model and real time scanning algorithm based on S-Net is developed.

  • In this paper we proposed backward fuzzy Petri-net to diagnoses faults in power systems by using the time sequence information of protection system. As the complexity of power systems increases, especially in the case of multiple faults or incorrect operation of protective devices, fault diagnosis requires new and systematic methods to the reasoning process, which improves both its accuracy and its efficiency. The fuzzy Petri-net models of protection system are composed of the operating process of protective devices and the fault diagnosis process. Fault diagnosis model, which makes use of the nature of fuzzy Petri-net, is developed to overcome the drawbacks of methods that depend on operator knowledge. The proposed method can reduce processing time and increase accuracy when compared with the traditional methods. And also this method covers online processing of real-time data from SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition)

  • Possible representation methods for the product structure have been compared and analyzed to determine optimal disassembly path of a product. Petri net is selected as the most optimal method to represent disassembly path of the product. In this method, a reachability tree for the product is generated and disassembly time for each path is calculated. A path with the smallest disassembly time is selected as the optimal path. A software far DPN(Disassembly Petri Net) has been developed and applied to search the optimal disassembly path for a ballpoint pen disassembly process as an example.

  • A difficult problem in operating Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS) is to control the system in real-time by coordinating heterogeneous machines and integrating distributed information. The objective of the paper is to present the models and methodologies useful to resolve the difficult problem. The detailed objectives can be described in three folds. First, a hierarchical Colored and Timed Petri-Net (CTPN) is designed to control an FMS in real-time. The concerned FMS consists of a loading station, several machining cells, a material handling system, and an unloading station. Timed-transitions are used to represent the timed-events such as AGV movements between stations and cells, part machining activities in the cells. Signal places are also used to represent communication status between the host and the cell controllers. To resolve the event conflicts and scheduling problems, dispatching rules are introduced and applied. Second, an implementation methodology used to monitor and diagnose the errors occurring on the machines during system operation is proposed. Third, a Petri-Net simulator is developed to experiment with the designed control logic.

  • In this study, a distributed simulation of Petri net models under HLA/RTI framework is considered. Throughout our modeling experiences, it is recognized that the proper use of interface specification and time management services are important in order to achieve successful implementation of RTI. The interfacing tokens between Petri net models are distinguished as information entity and physical entity. Both entities are modeled as InteractionClass in order to send and receive messages. For the synchronization of local simulation clocks, a conservative method with NERA service is considered. A cell manufacturing system is modeled and implemented with RTI to illustrate the distributed simulation of Petri net models.
