  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate which the nature of teacher behavior affects the learning flow in the context of military education. Empirical results show that the leadership of the nature of teacher behavior has a significant effect on three factors of learning flow (flow experience, transformation of time, concentration on task). In addition, the pace of class of the nature of teacher behavior is significantly related to the transformation of time and the concentration on task, and the sense of humor of the nature of teacher behavior significantly affects the concentration on task. The findings provide practical implications on how a military education institution strategically employes the leadership, the sense of humor, and the pace of class in an attempt to select and train instructors.

  • This study is conducted to minimize the problems caused by the difference between the settlement and settlement time of the one-dimensional consolidation analysis by the Terzaghi's consolidation theory, which is generally used in domestic soft soil design, from the settlement and settlement time measured at the field site. Consolidation-time factor considering the field site characteristics can be determined using the relationship among the degree of consolidation, settlement time, and time factor, the time-settlement curve measured at the field is reverse- analysis using a numerical-analysis technique to reproduce the same consolidation behavior as in the field. Time-settlement and time-excessive pore water pressure data when the same consolidation behavior as the site is reproduced Consolidation-time factor of the soil of Songsan Green City by settlement and excess pore water pressure was calculated using the settlement and excess pore water pressure for each settlement time. If the results of this study use the Terzaghi consolidation-time factor, which does not consider the consolidation characteristics of the soft ground target area, it is difficult to determine the end time of the soft ground during construction. It is necessary to use the established settlement-time factor.

  • This paper examines the structural behavior of 3D printed concrete specimens with focus on the bond between the layers. The tensile bond and flexural strengths were investigated experimentally and compared with those of specimens made by conventional mold casting. The test parameters were the time gap between printing layers and the reinforcement between vertical layers. The results showed the 3D printed specimens had voids between layers and confirmed the strength reduction due to printing time gap and the stress concentration caused by the voids. Most of the reduction in tensile bond strength between layers was due to the stress concentration at least up to certain printing time gap. Moreover, beyond a certain printing time gap (24hours), the additional reduction in tensile bond strength reached a level that could affect the structural behavior. The reinforcement between layers was helpful to increase the ductile behavior which is essential to prevent the sudden collapse of the structure. In addition, the reduction in flexural strength due to the stress concentration by the voids was observed and should be considered in the design of 3D printed wall structures against the lateral load.

  • Asphalt Plug Joint(APJ) is a new type of expansion joint that it's application are increased in USA as well as several European countries. APJ's' advantages are cheap construction and maintenance costs, and simple construction and securing of excellent flatness. However, APJ's usability is hindered because it showed a problem of premature failure. Research for solving this problem has been progressed, and FEM analysis among existing researches was peformed. However, the behavior of APJ was insufficiently analyzed and the reliability of the analysis was much low, since the material showing complicated behavior was oversimplified, Therefore, a material model was proposed and its effectiveness was confirmed by comparing it with actual behavior in order to improve the reliability of FEM analysis in this paper. ABAQUS program was used for FEM analysis, and an elasto-plastic model and a viscous-plastic model as the material model of APJ were suggested on the base of experiment results of APJ material performed by Bramel et al. The elasto-plastic model was defined by time-independent analysis since it didn't consider time and strain rate, and the viscous-plastic model was defined by time-dependent analysis since it considered. Influence of various elements affecting the behavior of APJ was investigated, and it was confirmed that the time-dependent analysis showed better result closed to actual behavior than the time-independent analysis.

  • carried out to present a rheology model which is able to treat time-dependent properties of clay. The results were summarized as follow ; 1. The slope (a(e1)) of deviator stress in strain rate test was independent on axial strain, and pore water pressure was decreased with increment of strain rate. 2. The pore water pressure in a stress relaxation condition was not changed when the strain rate before stress relaxation was 0.05%/min., but it was increased with increment of time when the strain rate before stress relaxation was 0.2%/min 3. The greater the stress condition (q/qmax) and the strain rate before creep test became, the greater the increment rate of axial strain in creep test became. 4. SEKIGUCHI's constitutive equation was slightly overpredicted while empirical equation proposed in the study was well coincided with measured values. 5. The constitutive equation induced by a strain function could be dealed with a behavior of the pore water pressure increased with increment of elapsed time after primary consolidation.

  • The autoignition temperature(AIT) is important index for the safe handling of flammable liquids which constitute the solvent mixtures. This study measured the AITs and ignition delay time for n-Decane and Acetic acid system by using ASTM E659 apparatus. The AITs of n-Decane and Acetic acid which constituted binary system were $212^{\circ}C$ and $512^{\circ}C$, respectively. The experimental AITs of n-Decane and Acetic acid system were a good agreement with the calculated AITs by the proposed equations with a few A.A.D.(average absolute deviation). And n-Decane and Acetic acid system was shown the minimum autoignition temperature behavior(MAITB).

  • In the study, we consider chua's circuit which is a paradigmatic chaotic system belonging to Lur'e form. It is shown that the dynamic behavior of such a system can be influenced in such a way as to obtain out of chaotic behavior a desired periodic orbit corresponding to an unstable periodic trajectory which exists in the system. This kind of control can be achieved via injection of a single continuous time signal representing the output of the system associated with an unstable periodic orbit embedded in the chaotic attractor We investigate the case when this signal is sampled, i.e. we supply to the system the control signal at discrete time moments only.

  • Medium-scale tests were conducted to measure and observe the strength and failure behavior of freshwater ice rubble. A custom box measuring $3.05m{\times}0.94m{\times}0.94m$, with Plexiglas walls was built so that failure mechanisms could be observed. Ice rubble beams of nominal thickness 50 cm were produced by placing randomly sized ice pieces into the box filled with water at its freezing temperature. After the specified consolidation time, ranging between 0.2 and 70.5 h, the ice rubble beam was deformed by pushing a platen vertically downwards though the center of the beam until failure. For consolidation times less than 4 h, the ice beam failed progressively and tended to fail by shearing on macroscopic scale. At times greater than 4 h the beam failed by bending. The change in failure behaviour has been attributed to the degree of bonding between ice blocks.
