The degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) in water was investigated in laboratory-scale experiments, using five advanced oxidation Processes (AOPs) $UV/H_2O_2$, lenten, photo-lenten, $UV/TiO_2,\;UV/TiO_2/H_2O_2$. The photodegradation experiments were carried out in a fluidized bed photoreactor equipped with an immersed 32 W UV-C lamp as light source. initial decolorization rate and COD removal efficiency were evaluated and compared. The results obtained showed that the initial decolorization rate constant was quite different for each oxidation process. The relative order of decolorization was: photo-fenton > $UV/TiO_2/H_2O_2$ > fenton > $UV/H_2O_2$ > $UV/TiO_2$ > UV > $H_2O_2$. The relative order of COD removal was different from decolorization: photo-fenten ${\fallingdotseq}$$UV/TiO_2/H_2O_2\;>\;UV/TiO_2\;>\;fenton\;>\;UV/H_2O_2$. The Photo-lenten and $UV/TiO_2/H_2O_2$ processes seem to be appropriate for decolorization and COD removal of dye wastewater.
The effects of Sr and (Ti-B) additives on the tensile properties of AC4A recycled (35% scrap content) aluminum alloys were investigated. An acicular morphology of the eutectic Si phase of as-cast specimens was converted to a fibrous morphology upon the addition of Sr. Moreover, morphology of the Sr modified eutectic Si phase became finer due to a T6 heat treatment. The grain size of the ${\alpha}$-solid solution was decreased by the addition of (Ti-B) additives. Depending on the treatment conditions of the as-cast specimens, i.e., no addition, a Sr addition and a (Ti-B)+Sr addition, the tensile strength levels of the as-cast specimens were 182, 192, and 204MPa, respectively. The corresponding strengths of T6 heat-treated specimens were 293, 308, and 318MPa. Elongations of the as-cast specimens were 2.2, 3.1, and 5.6%, and the corresponding elongations of the T6 heat-treated specimens were 4.6, 6.1, and 7.6%. The percentage of the reduced section area in the tensile specimens was also increased by the Sr and (Ti-B) additives. Sr and (Ti-B) additives changed the microstructure and the distribution of defects in the castings, resulting in an improvement of the tensile properties of AC4A aluminum alloys. According to our test results, recycled (35% scrap content) AC4A aluminum alloy met all of the KS requirements of the tensile strength and elongation values of AC4A aluminum alloy except for the elongation value of the one specimen condition, in this case the as-cast no-addition condition.
Microstructure and phase transformation of Ti-Ni-Cu alloy powders produced by using attrition milling method were studied. Mixed powders of Ti-(50-X)Ni-XCu ($X=0{\sim}20$ at%) in composition range were mechanically alloyed for maximum 20 hours by using SUS 1/4" ball in argon atmosphere. Ball to powder ratio was 50: 1 and impeller speed was 350rpm. Mechanically alloyed with attrition millimg method. powder was heat treated at the temperature up to $850^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour in the $10^{-6}$ torr vacuum. Ti-Ni-Cu alloy powders have been fabricated by attrition milling method. and then phase transformation behaviours and microstructual properties of the alloy powders were investigated to assist in improving the the high damping capacity of Ti-Ni-Cu shape memory alloy powders. The results obtained are as follows: 1. After heat treating of fully mechanically alloyed powder at $850^{\circ}C$ for 1hour. most of the B2 and B 19' phases was formed and $TiNi_3$ were coexisted. 2. The B 19' martensite were formed in Ti-Ni-Cu alloy powders whose Cu-content is less than 5a/o. where as the B19 martensite in those whose Cu-content is more than 10at%. 3. The powders of as-milled Ti-Ni-Cu alloys whose Cu-contents is less than 5at% are amorphous. whereas those of as-milled Ti-Ni-Cu alloys whose Cu-content is more than 10at% are crystalline. This means that Cu addition tends to suppress amorphization of Ti-Ni alloy powders.
The electrical conductivity of polycrystalline TiO2 samples was measured over the temperature range 1000°-1400℃ and from 0.21 to 10-16 atm of oxygen. Based on the excellent fit observed between the theoretically derived relatin σ3=(Aσ+B)Po2-1/2+D'σ2 and the experimental conductivity data, the nonstoichimetric defect structure of TiO2 was rationalized in terms of a defect model involving quasi-free electrons and both singly and doubly ionized oxygen vacancies. The standard enthalpy of formation for the following defect reactions in TiO2. (a) OO={{{{ { 1} over {2 } }}O2(g)+VO+e'; Δ{{{{ { H}`_{o } ^{a } }}=5.15(eV) (b) OO={{{{ { 1} over {2 } }}O2(g)+VO+2e'; Δ{{{{ { H}`_{0 } ^{ a} }}=6.30(eV) (c) VO=VO+e'; Δ{{{{ { H}`_{0 } ^{a } }}=1.15(eV) were determined from the temperature dependence of A and B obtained from the above relation and from the experimental expression between the electron mobility and temperature. The electrical conductivity of TiO2 in air below approximately 950℃ appears, on the basis of this investigation, to be impurity controlled due to the presence of aluminum rather than intrinsic conduction.

Continuous input into the aquatic ecosystem and persistent structures have created concern of antibiotics, primarily due to the potential for the development of antimicrobial resistance. Degradation kinetics and mineralization of vancomycin B (VAN-B) by photocatalysis using $TiO_2$ and ZnO nanoparticles was monitored at natural pH conditions. Photocatalysis (PC) efficiency was followed by means of UV absorbance, total organic carbon (TOC), and HPLC results to better monitor degradation of VAN-B itself. Experiments were run for two initial VAN-B concentrations ($20-50mgL^{-1}$) and using two catalysts $TiO_2$ and ZnO at different concentrations (0.1 and $0.5gL^{-1}$) in a multi-lamp batch reactor system (200 mL water volume). Furthermore, a set of toxicity tests with Daphnia magna was performed to evaluate the potential toxicity of oxidation by-products of VAN-B. Formation of intermediates such as chlorides and nitrates were monitored. A rapid VAN-B degradation was observed in ZnO-PC system (85% to 70% at 10 min), while total mineralization was observed to be relatively slower than $TiO_2-PC$ system (59% to 73% at 90 min). Treatment efficiency and mechanism of degradation directly affected the rate of transformation and by-products formation that gave rise to toxicity in the treated samples.

Hydrophilic $TiO_2$ films were deposited on slide glasses using titanium tetraisopropoxide (TTIP) as a precursor by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). The temperature of substrate was $400^{\circ}C$ and the temperatures of precursor were kept at $75^{\circ}C$ (sample A) and $60^{\circ}C$ (sample B) during the $TiO_2$ film growth. The deposited $TiO_2$ films were characterized by contact angle measurement and uv/vis spectroscopy. The result show that sample B has very low contact angle of almost zero due to superhydrophilic $TiO_2$ surface and transmittance is $76.85%{\pm}1.47%$ at the range of 400 - 700 nm. So, this condition is very optimal for hydrophilic $TiO_2$ film deposition. However, when the temperature of precursor is lower is lower than $50^{\circ}C$ or higher than $75^{\circ}C$, $TiO_2$ could not be deposited on the substrate and cloudy $TiO_2$ film was formed due to low precursor temperature and the increase of surface roughness, respectively.
In this study, The decomposition of gas-phase Benzene and Toluene, Xylene in air streams by direct UV Photolysis, UV/TiO$_2$ and UV/TiO$_2$/A.C process was studied. The experiments were carried out under various UV light intensities and initial concentrations of B.T.X to investigate and compare the removal efficiency of the pollutant. B.T.X was determined by GC-FID of gas samples taken from the a glass sampling bulb which was located at reactor inlet and outlet by gas-tight syringe. From this study, the results indicate that UV/TiO$_2$/A.C system (photooxidation-photocatalytic oxidation-adsorption process) is ideal for treatment of B.T.X from the small workplace. Although the results needs more verifications, the methodology seems to be reasonable and can be applied for various workplace (laundry, gas station et al.).
TiN has been investigated as a good candidate for a diffusion barrier of Cu. Therefore, in this study, the grain boundary diffusion of Cu in TiN film was investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). In general, TiN has a columnar grain structure. In the relatively lower temperature, less than 1/3 of the melting point, it was observed that Cu diffused into TiN mainly along the grain boundaries of TiN. The grain size of TiN was measured by atomic force microscope (AFM). In order to estimate the grain boundary diffusion constants, we used the modified surface accumulation method. The activation energy, $Q_b$ was 0.23 eV, and the diffusivity, $D_{bo}$ was $5.5\times10^{-12{\textrm{cm}^2$/sec.
1. Preparation of Titanium tetrachloride; The following precesses were strictly followed as the preliminary step to obtain pure $TiOCl_2$, titanyl chloride; First, pure Titanium Oxide mixed with carbon is rolled into pills. After drying up perfectly, these pills are heated at 900∼1000${\circ}C$. And then the pills are subjected to the flow of $Cl_2$ gas in a quartz tube heated to 900-1000${\circ}C$. Thus Titanium tetrachloride is obtained. 2. Preparation of $TiOCl_2$ ; Yellowish trobrown solution is made by pouring 80 g of conc. HCl (sp.gr. 1.19) to 45 gr of Titanium tetrachloride (approx. 2 times of theoretical amount). Then this solution is kept settled for 5-days in a desiccator filled with phosphorous pentoxide at room temperature. As the colorless amorphous solid thus obtained is washed with aceton, 36.5 g of the pure salt are obtained. 3. Determination of composition. The analysis of the sample taken from the deposit desiccated gives the following data; (A) Qualitative analysis; a) $Ti(OH)_4$ is precipitated by adding NaOH in water solution of the salt. b) Adding $AgNO_3$ solution, the water solution of the salt gives white precipitate of AgCl. c) When acid and $H_2O_2$ are added, the solution turns its color to redish brown (This proves that $TiO^{++}$ was converted into $TiO^{++}$ by oxidation of $H_2O_2$. (B) Quantitative analysis; a) $Ti(OH)_4$ precipitated by $10{\%}$ NaOH isalitatsubjected consecutively to the filtration and ignition in porcelain crucible at approx. 1000${\circ}C$. , then $TiO_2$ thus formed is weighed and calculated into Ti content. b) Chlorine involved in water solution of the salt is determined by Vorhardt method. Result: The values obtained from previous analysis, devied by their atomic weight gives the following composition: Ti : Cl = 1 : 2 Therefore $TiOCl_2$ should be given as its molecular formula. 4. Summary. When $TiCl_4$ is additated into conc. HCl, $TiO^{++}$ formed exists as a stable form, and forms $TiOCl_2$. However $TiOCl_2$ is unstable to heating. When the temperature is raised to $65{\circ}C$the decomposition of the solution is accelerated, and gives $TiO_2$ aq. $TiOCl_2$ in addition is highly hygroscopic.
