The Effects of Y2O3Y2O3 and Ga2O3Ga2O3 Addtives on the Microstructure and Piezoelectric Properties of PNN-PZ-PT Ceramics (PNN-PZ-PT 세라믹스의 미세구조 및 암전특성에 대한 Y2O3Y2O3Ga2O3Ga2O3의 첨가효과)

  • In this study, the microstructure, dielectric and piezoelectric properties of 0.15Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3)O30.85(PbZr0.5Ti0.5)O30.15Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3)O30.85(PbZr0.5Ti0.5)O3(0.15PNN-0.85PZT) ceramics having compositions near the morphotropic phase boundary(MPB) was investigated with respect to the variation of Y2O3Y2O3 and Ga2O3Ga2O3 addition amount. The dielectric properties increased and piezoelectric properties decreased with increasing the amount of Ga2O3Ga2O3. The solubility limit of Y2O3Y2O3 is 0.5mol% in this system. The electro-mechanical coupling factor(Kp)(Kp) and dielectric constant(εrεr) were 58.6% and 1755 when the amount of Y2O3Y2O3 are 0.5mol%.

Piezoelectric Properties of PMN-PNN-PZT Ceramics and the Simulation of Ultrasonic Cleaner

  • In this paper, for the application of ultrasonic cleaners for cleaning dentures and transparent braces, Pb(Mn1/3Nb2/3)O3-Pb(Ni1/3 Nb2/3)O3-Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 [PMN-PNN-PZT] system ceramics were manufactured and their dielectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated. Overall the best properties suitable for the device applications such as ultrasonic cleaner were obtained from the ceramics sintered at 920℃: bulk density of 7.8 g/cm3, the dielectric constant (εr) of 1,689, piezoelectric charge constant (d33) of 433 pC/N, planar electromechanical coupling factor (kp) of 0.64, mechanical quality factor (Qm) of 835, S11E of 13.37 (10-12 N/m2), and Curie temperature of 315℃ By using the physical properties of this composition, the ultrasonic cleaner was designed and simulated using the commercial ATILA software. For the three-layered ceramics with the dimension of 25 mm × 25 mm × 2.5mm, an excellent displacement of 8.998 10-3 m) and the sound pressure of 147.68 dB were recorded.

Geochemical Characteristics of Stream Sediments Based on Bed Rocks in the Naju Area, Korea (기반암에 따른 나주지역 하상퇴적물의 지구화학적 특성)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate geochemical characteristics for stream sediments in the Naju area. We collected 139 stream sediments samples from primary channels. Samples were dried slowly in the laboratory and chemical analysis was carried out using XRF. ICP-AES and NAA. In order to investigate geochemical characteristics, the geological groups categorized into granitic gneiss area, schist area, granite area, arenaceous rock area, tuff area, andesite area, and rhyolite area. Average contents of major elements for geological groups are SiO258.3766.06wt.SiO258.3766.06wt.. According to the comparison of average contents of major elements, Al2O3andK2OAl2O3andK2O are higher in granitic gneiss area, Fe2O3,CaO,P2O5Fe2O3,CaO,P2O5 are higher in tuff area, MgO and TiO2TiO2 are higher in andesite area, Na_2O_Na_2O_ is higher in rhyolite area, SiO2SiO2, and MnO are higher in arenaceous rock area.   • The magnetic properties and the microstructures of the Mn-Ir/Ni-Fe multilayers with various stacking structures and buffer layer materials have been investigated. The (111) texture of Mn-Ir/Ni-Fe was observed in the top structures with Ta, Zr, or Ti buffer materials. However, all Mn-Ir/Ni-Fe multilayers with top structures exhibit high HexHex, regardless of the (111) preferred orientation of Mn-Ir film. The samples whose high HexHex observed grain-to-grain epitaxial tendency and the large grain of Mn-Ir film at the interface. It can be explained that the HexHex does not depend on the (111) texture of the Mn-Ir film and the interface roughness, but depends on the grain size of the Mn-Ir film and the morphology of the interface between the Mn-Ir and the Ni-Fe grains, and the HcHc depends on the interface roughness between the Mn-Ir and the Ni-Fe films.

  • BaZrO33and SrTiO33(STO) thin films were Pulsed laser deposited on biaxially textured Ni and Ni-W alloy substrates to be used as single buffer layer for coated conductor. The texture of the films were analysed using the GADDS (general area detector diffraction system). Both films deposited on the metal tape were strongly (001) oriented, and in-plane textured (Δø (BZO) =9, Δø (STO) = 10).

  • The effects of different types of process control agents (PCA) on the microstructure evolution of Ni-based oxide dispersion-strengthened superalloy have been investigated. Alloy synthesis was performed on elemental powders having a nominal composition of Ni-15Cr-4.5Al-4W-2.5Ti-2Mo-2Ta-0.15Zr-1.1Y2O3 in wt % using high energy ball milling for 5 h. The prepared powders are consolidated by spark plasma sintering at 1000℃. Results indicated that the powder ball-milled with ethanol as PCA showed large particle size, low carbon content and homogeneous distribution of elemental powders compared with the powder by stearic acid. The sintered alloy prepared by ethanol as PCA exhibited a homogeneous microstructure with fine precipitates at the grain boundaries. The microstructural characteristics have been discussed on the basis of function of the PCA.

Dynamic Deformation Behavior of Zr-Based Bulk Amorphous Alloy after Annealing Treatments (벌크형 비정질 Zr계 합금의 결정화 열처리에 따른 동적변형 거동)

  • The mechanical properties of a bulk amorphous alloy (Zr41.2Zr41.2 Ti13.8Ti13.8 /Cu10Cu10 Ni10Ni10 Be22.5Be22.5 /at.%) before and after an annealing treatment were investigated. For the bulk amorphous alloy, the compressive strength was about 2.0 GPa, irrespective of the strain rates in the range of 104104 to 103103sec1sec1 . Fine-sized nanocrystalline particles (10~100 nm) were precipitated homogeneously in the bulk amorphous matrix after the annealing treatments. Compared to the bulk amorphous materials, these composite materials, composed of the nanocrystalline phases and a bulk amorphous matrix had much different mechanical properties. The strength and strain of coposite materials measured by a compressive test showed a peak-maximum values at 7 vol.% of the nanocrystalline phases. The values in higher volume fraction of the crystalline phases in the amorphous matrix were decreased, as measured by both quasi-static and high strain rate. The decrease in fracture strength is due to presence of the dispersed large-crystalline phases in the amorphous matrix.

Tensile Deformation Behavior of Zr-based Bulk Metallic Glass Composite with Different Strain Rate (Zr계 벌크 비정질 복합재의 변형률 속도에 따른 인장 변형 거동 연구)

  • Tensile deformation behavior with different strain rate was investigated. Zr56.2Ti13.8Nb5.0Cu6.9Ni5.6Be12.5Zr56.2Ti13.8Nb5.0Cu6.9Ni5.6Be12.5(bulk metallic glass alloy possessed crystal phase which was called ββ-phase of dendrite shape, mean size of 2030μm2030μm and occupied 25% of the total volume) was used in this study. Maximum tensile strength was obtained as 1.74GPa at strain rate 102s1102s1 and minimum strength was found to be 1.6GPa at 101s1101s1. And then, maximum plastic deformation occurred at the strain rate of 5×102s15×102s1 and represented 1.75%, though minimum plastic deformation showed 0%. In the specific range of strain rate, relatively higher plastic deformation and lower ultimate tensile strength were found with lots of shear bands. The fractographical observation after tensile test indicated that vein like pattern on the fracture surface was well developed especially in the above range of strain rate.

  • Negative electrode was prepared by mixing Ti0.7Zr0.3Cr0.3Mn0.3V0.6Ni0.8Ti0.7Zr0.3Cr0.3Mn0.3V0.6Ni0.8 alloy powder with copper or nickel powder and pressing in the air. The cycled electrodes were analyzed with SEM, potentiostat and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. It was found that the Cu-compacted electrode showed better low temperature dischargeability and higher rate capability than Ni-compacted electrode. From SEM analysis of the cycled electrode compacted with copper powder, it was observed that the surface of MH particles was covered with copper grains and whisker precipitated from electrolyte after dissolution during cell test. It is found that the improved electrode characteristics are attributed to the copper layer on MH particles deposited by dissolution and precipitation(DP) process.

  • Recently, various bulk metallic glasses (BMG's) haying good mechanical and chemical properties were developed. BMG's can easily be deformed in the supercooled liquid region, via viscous flow mechanism. In our previous work, we evaluated the deformation behavior and some other basic properties of Z r41.2r41.2 Ti13.8Ti13.8C u12.5u12.5N i10i10B e22.5e22.5 alloy. In this study, we investigated the micro forming of Z r41.2r41.2 Ti13.8Ti13.8C u12.5u12.5N i10i10B e22.5e22.5 alloy. The process condition was chosen based on the viscosity data from TMA, and superalloy and Si wafer with micro patterns on the surface were used as forming die. The alloy showed good replication of the patterns. However, some stripe patterns, resembling scratches, appeared on the deformed alloy surface. These scratches can be reduced or eliminated by polishing before forming.ing.ore forming.ing.
