An Investigation on the Possibility to Teach Mathematical Principles of Tessellations in Elementary School Mathematics (초등학교에서 테셀레이션의 수학적 원리 지도 가능성 탐색)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the possibility of teaching tessellations' mathematical principles in elementary school mathematics. A survey was carried out and the two hours of the instructional experiment were developed for this study triangular tessellation activity and rectangular tessellation activity. Six fifth graders from W elementary school participated voluntarily in the instructional experiment. It was shown from the survey that teachers and students both know what the tessellation is, but they don't know what the mathematical principles really are in the tessellation. This is because they have just done the covering up-activities in class. It was seen from the instructional experiments that even ordinary students were able to understand the mathematical principles of the tessellation if teachers could throw the suitable focusing questions like 'how to move the rectangles making sides equal' and 'how to gather vertexes making angle $360^{\circ}$'. Furthermore, it is desirable to teach the rectangular tessellation prior to the triangular tessellation since the rectangular tessellation is more easy to deal with than the triangular tessellation.

  • 반도체 집적회로의 집적도가 증가함에 따라 RC delay가 증가하며, 금속 배선의 spiking, electromigration 등의 문제로 인해 기존의 알루미늄 금속을 대체하기 위하여 구리를 배선재료로 사용하게 되었다. 하지만 구리는 실리콘 및 산화물 내에서 매우 빠른 확산도를 가지고 있으므로, 구리의 확산을 막아 줄 확산방지막이 필요로 하다. 이러한 확산방지막의 증착은, 소자의 크기가 작아짐에 따라 via/contact과 같은 고단차 구조에도 적용이 가능하도록 기존의 sputtering 증착 방법에서 이를 개선한 collimated sputter, long-throw sputter, ion-metal plasma 등의 방법으로 물리적인 증착법이 지속되어 왔지만, 근본적인 증착방법을 바꾸지 않는 한 한계에 도달하게 될 것이다. 원자층 증착법(ALD)은 CVD 증착법의 하나로, 소스와 반응물질을 주입하는 시간을 분리함으로써 증착하고자 하는 표면에서의 반응을 유도하여 원자층 단위로 원하는 박막을 얻을 수 있는 증착방법이다. 이를 이용하여 물리적 증기 증착법(PVD)보다 우수한 단차피복성과 함께 정교하게 증착두께를 컨트롤을 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 원자층 증착법을 이용하여 구리 배선을 위한 확산방지막으로 텅스텐질화막을 형성하였다. 텅스텐 질화막을 형성하기 위하여 금속-유기물 전구체와 함께 할라이드 계열인 WF6를 텅스텐 소스로 이용하였으며, 이에 대한 원자층 증착방법으로 이루어진 박막의 물성을 비교 평가하여 분석하였다.

  • The increase of vehicles stagnations leads to the increasing attention to the way customers pay and a large number of projects on electronic cash system. Tranport system is comprised of a number of advanced technologies, including information processing, communications, control, and electronics. Recently many research on a system which provides contact in order to protect driver's vehicle passage have been carried out. And some potential problems from that system are being reviewed by electronic cash system. In this papers, we suggest RF protocol developing technology using the concept of electronic cash. ATM electronic cash developing is consist of component of pre-developed coin throw, integration of component using its, and production of more requirement-satisfactory ITS solution. Result increase 15$\sim$40% pre-type vehicles stagnations. Especially, we expect this proposed concept would be well adapted to our national environments.

Feasibility Study of UV-Disinfection for Water Reuse of Effluent from Wastewater Treatment Plant (용수재이용을 위한 하수처리 유출수의 UV 소독 효율 연구)

  • The feasibility study of UV-disinfection system was performed for disinfection of effluent from wastewater treatment plant. Three low-pressure UV lamps of 17, 25, and 41 W were examined with various flow rates. Low-pressure UV lamps of 17W were examined with various turbidity, DOM (dissolved organic matter), and SS (suspended solid). The pilot plant was a flow-through type UV-disinfection system, and the range of exposure time varied from 5 to 40 seconds, turbidity from 0 to 40 NTU, DOM from 0 to 30 mg/L, and SS from 10 to 40 mg/L. The 41W lamp demonstrated complete disinfection showing no survival ratio in all the experimental conditions, and generally 17W and 25W lamps also showed high removal ratio over 97%. For the same UV dose (UV intensity times exposure time), high intensity-short exposure conditions showed better disinfection efficiency than low intensity-long exposure conditions. While the effects of turbidity and DOM were not apparent, the effects of SS was significant on the disinfection efficiency which indicates that SS control before UV-disinfection appears to be necessary to increase removal efficiency. Considering characteristics of effluent from existing wastewater treatment plants, cost-effectiveness, stable performance, and minimum maintenance, the flow-through type UV-disinfection system with high intensity and low-pressure lamps was thought to be a competitive disinfection system for wastewater reclamation.

  • Today many people are greatly interested in the environment. Especially increasing affluent of food causes a great amount of food waste. To handle this effectively, we now have a lot of problems of disposing garbage all over the world. In Korea, in order to reduce this garbage, we should use a standard plastic garbage bag in which we have to throw away our garbage. So it has an effect on significantly reducing the waste amount every year. Now, there are a lot of cases that residents again use a standard plastic garbage bag. The purpose of this study is to propose algorithm preventing the re-cycling of a standard plastic garbage bag.

The Biomechanical Analysis of Throwing Motion for the Elementary Students - Developmental Approach - (초등학교 학생들의 발달단계에 따른 던지기 동작의 운동역학적 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the characteristics of throwing motion in the elementary school students from the developmental point of view. For the purpose of this, total of nine subjects(each of three students in five, third, and first grades) were participated. They were asked to throw the ball as far as they can and the motions were videotaped with the 30frames/sec and 1/500 shutter speed. The successful motions for each subject were selected for three dimensional analysis. The collected data were analyzed using DV express 1.0 and Kwon3D 3.0 softwares. The results obtained from this study were as follows; 1. Total time for the throwing motion of the first grade was longer than that of the fifth and third grades. 2. The resultant displacement and velocity of COM for the fifth and third grades were greater than that of the frist grade. 3. The first grade tended to flex the trunk forward excessively during the throwing motion. 4. The fifth grade tended to place the upper arm close to the sagital plane and move the forearm and hand freely. 5. Looking at the greater variability of the angular velocity of the hand segment, the fifth grade seemed to have faster and more flexible movement of the wrist. 6. There were somewhat differences in the patterns and magnitudes of ground reaction forces among the different grades.

The Kinematical Analysis of Supported Athlete's Technical Motion in Javelin Throw (창던지기기 남자 국가대표 중점지원 선수의 기술동작 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide information on athletes' characteristics and advantages and disadvantages by analyzing the kinematic factors having a decisive influence on competitive abilities such as release conditions in the delivery phase on major Korean javelin athletes. Two supported javelin throwers of the Korean national team participated in this study. The total average time required of the delivery phase was 0.31(${\pm}0.016$). The athletes' release angle was 33.2 to 41.7 degrees. The attack angle varied widely from -3.5 to 5.9 degrees. The Javelin heights of Subject A and B were 95.9 and 89.2%Ht. The average stride length were 180.6 and 176.7cm. The center of mass velocity of LFD and REL was relatively low in all the subjects. The average deceleration rates of center of mass velocity of Subject A and B were 57.2 and 48.9%lose. The left knee angles of Subject A and B were 160.1 and 155.5 degrees in LFD, 153.0 and 164.0 degrees in REL. The joint velocity of upper limb segments was relatively low in all the subjects. The maximum average wrist velocity of Subject A and B was 18.2 and 16.3 m/s in REL.

Application Effects of STS Module Concerning Food Waste (음식물 쓰레기에 관한 STS 모듈의 적용 효과)

  • This study is intended to examine an effectiveness of STS module concerning food waste, 'Even if food waste is the money, would you throw it away', in the areas of affective domains related to science and attitudes towards environmental problems. For this study, one group of 142 seventh graders attending 'L' middle school in Iksan city, Jeonrabukdo received 8 class hours with this module. Their affective domains related to science and attitudes towards environmental problems were measured by pre- and post-test design in a single group. In addition, their views on STS instruction was also analyzed. Results are as follows. Students in the transition period who had been taught with this module showed that they had a statistically significant effectiveness in interests related to science, scientific attitudes and execution towards environmental problems(p<.05). Students taught with this module had a positive views on the STS instructional methods or contents. It was also shown that their recognition or behavior towards environmental problems have been changed positively.

Effects of Vanadate on the Calcium Flux of Cardiac Muscle (Vanadate가 심근막을 통한 $Ca^{++}$의 유입 및 유출에 미치는 영향)

  • Since it was proposed that vanadate may be an ‘ideal endogenous regulator of the $Na^+,\;K^+-ATPase$ activity (Cantley et at, 1979), vanadate has been a subject of intensive research and a variety of its physiological effects have been described (Nechay, 1984). In isolated guinea pig heart muscle vanadate shows a positive inotropic effect on ventricular muscle, while it induces a negative inotropic effect on atrial muscle. But its underlying mechanism has not been elucidated so far. Therefore, in this study the flux rates of calcium ion into and from guinea pig heart muscle were measured to throw some light on the underlying mechanism, because those rates have been known to be closely related to the cardiac contractility and the results are summarized as follows: 1) Calcium efflux rates from the intracellular $Ca^{++}$ pool (compartment 4) of both guinea pig left atrium and right ventricle were significantly reduced by vanadate and their pool sizes were significantly increased by vanadate. 2) The magnitude of calcium influx into left atrium was reduced by vanadate, While the magnitude of calcium influx into right ventricle was not affected by vanadate. From these results, it may be concluded that the positive inotropic effect of vanadate on the ventricular muscle was due to a reduced efflux rate of calcium ion and its negative inotropic effect on atrial muscle was resulted from a reduced influx of calcium ion.

  • The 7-zone-diagnostic system(ABR-2000, BIO MEDIC 700Plus, CP-6000A, OMD 3000, VEGA-DFM 722) is a diagnostic device which applies pulse signals to predetermined bodily locations. Applying alternating positive and negative stress to tissues with positive and negative pulses first manifests itself as negative and positive wave forms. This system make a diagnosis of functional disorder or some typical organic diseases include stress of the mind or the body, and the energetic situation, reserves. We are known a disorder or disease throw the result charts. And these result represents various characteristic signals are assisted diagnosis and care. These result chart contains disorder flow wave forms and some valuable diagnostic hints or marks. But we have several various products for the 7-zone-diagnostic system. I think that we need the comparative analysis of the general rule and the decipher for each equipment. Because these letters(marks) each product are different, we necessary various plentiful research and suitable statistics in these points. And we must carry out many various research in the future.
