A signal optimization model is proposed by applying the Cell-Transmission Model(CTM) as an embedded traffic flow model to estimate a system-optimal signal timing plan in a transportation network composed of signalized intersections. Beyond the existing signal-optimization models, the CTM provides appropriate theoretical and practical backgrounds to simulate oversaturation phenomena such as shockwave, queue length, and spillback. The model is formulated on the Mixed-Integer Programming(MIP) theory. The proposed model implies a system-optimal in a sense that traffic demand and signal system cooperate to minimize the traffic network cost: the demand departing from origins through route choice behavior until arriving at destinations and the signal system by calculating optimal signal timings considering the movement of these demand. The potential of model's practical application is demonstrated through a comparison study of two signal control strategies: optimal and fixed signal controls.

A transmission designed with P.T.O(Power Take-Off) axle for agricultural work vehicles including multi-purpose vehicles has been developed. It is focused on the 4-wheel drive transmission of synchronous contact type for practical use in fruit tree households which is required for a large-sized agricultural vehicle. Concerning to the specification performed, the load capacity is from 500kg to 1,000kg and the safety should be secured for passengers. In addition, the driving condition should also be secured under bad situations of the topographic slope, swampy land and the rest. In order to carry out above tests, a prototype vehicle through strength analysis of transmission design has been manufactured. Consequently, optimal design conditions on the power transmission with multi-purpose vehicle for various jobs are proposed such as an indication of optimal RPM and torque at a certain work situation. The performance test through the prototype of multi-purpose work vehicle is performed and the related data base is achieved. Finally, it is improved on troubles by the analysis of the results of R&D and provided the solutions on problems occurring to mass production in the future.

In this study, wind loads transmitted to a transmission tower from transmission lines are mitigated using rotational viscoelastic dampers. First, the wind load characteristics in a transmission tower is investigated considering the effect of the transmission lines through stochastic analysis. The assemblage of the transmission line and insulator are modeled as a double pendulum system connected to the SDOF model of the tower. From the result of the stochastic analysis, the background component of the overturing moment caused by the wind loads acting on the transmission lines are found to have considerable portion in the total overturning moment. Based on this observation result, a strategy Installing rotational viscoelastic damper (VED) between tower arm and transmission line is proposed for the mitigation of the transmission line reactions, which play a role as dynamic loads on a transmission tower. For the purpose of verification, time history analysis is conducted for different wind velocities and VED parameters. The analysis result shows that the rotational VED is effective for the mitigation of the background component rather than the resonance component of the transmission line reactions and achieves the reduction ratio of 50% even for higher wind speed.
The two way subscriber transmission systems have tendency to spread its carrier frequency bandwidth or information bit rate and average bit error rate according to popularization of high speed information through the digital communication system, transmission medium and the Internet. This fact is an important incentive to realize new systems. These two way subscriber transmission systems usually use same cable or same carrier frequency bandwidth for up stream channel and down stream channel. In the systems, the disturbances of noise, crosstalk or fading affect the characteristics. Specifically, these disturbances cause the decrease of information bit rate and degradation of transmission quality. This paper proposes the improved method of their degradations using the particular feature of two way subscriber transmission systems and it makes clear proposed method is effective by theoretically and some numerical examples.
Gears are useful for power transmission due to excellent power transmission performance, low cost, and compactness. In addition, gears have constant speed ratio, compact structure, and excellent efficiency. In order to transmit higher power, the new multi-range transmission requires gears which have greater strength than the existing transmission. This study evaluates stability and durability through gear analysis of the multi-range transmission in commercial vehicles using ROMAX-DESIGNER program. Also, strength design evaluation is carried out by the analysis results which are compared with gear strength theory of AGMA standard. Bending stress and contact stress on gears are lower than their allowable stresses. Therefore, we can evaluate the safety of the gear strength design in multi-range transmission.

A transmission control cable connects the transmission control arm and the control lever mechanically and transfers control effort exerted by a driver to the transmission. It also transfers vibration generated by the engine to the passenger room through mechanical connection. To understand vibration and noise transfer mechanism and to further find a way to suppress the transmission of vibration effectively, a dependable dynamic vibration model is a necessity. A vibration model for a transmission control cable is developed and a simulation study has been conducted to obtain mode frequencies and a transmittability. The resonance frequencies obtained by an harmonic analysis is compared with the noise level measurement data. The measurement agrees with the simulation result thus ensures the reliability of the model.

The introduction of competition in electricity market emphasizes the importance of sufficient transmission capacities to guarantee various electricity transactions. Therefore, when dispatch scheduling, transmission security constraints should be considered for the economic and stable electric power system operation. In this paper, we propose an optimal dispatch scheduling algorithm incorporating transmission security constraints. For solving these constraints, the dispatch scheduling problem is decomposed into a master problem to calculate a general optimal power flow (OPF) without transmission security constraints and several subproblems to inspect the feasibility of OPF solution under various transmission line contingencies. If a dispatch schedule given by the master problem violates transmission security constraints, then an additional constraint is imposed to the master problem. Through these iteration processes between the master problem and subproblems, an optimal dispatch schedule reflecting the post-contingency rescheduling is derived. Moreover, since interruptible loads can positively participate as generators in the competitive electricity market, we consider these interruptible loads active control variables. Numerical example demonstrates efficiency of the proposed algorithm.
The deregulation problem has recently attracted attentions in a competitive electric power market, where the cost must be earmarked fairly and precisely for the customers and the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) as well. Transmission loss is an one of several important factors that determines power transmission cost. Because the cost caused by transmission losses is about $3{\sim}5%$, it is important to allocate transmission losses into each bus in a power system. This paper presents the new algorithm to allocate transmission losses based on an integration method using the loss sensitivity. It provides the buswise incremental transmission losses through the calculation of load ratios considering the transaction strategy of an overall system. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated by the case studies carried out on the WSCC 9-bus and IEEE 14-bus systems.

The assemblage of the transmission line and insulator are modeled as a double pendulum system connected to the SDOF model of the tower It is observed that the background component of the overturing moment induced by the wind response of the transmission line has considerable portion in the total overturning moment. Based on this result, a rotational viscoelastic damper (VED) is proposed for the mitigation of the transmission line reactions, which act as wind load transferred to the tower. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategy, time history analysis is conducted for different wind velocities and VED damping constants. From the analysis, the proposed VED is proved to be effective for mitigation of the background component rather than the resonance component of the transmission line reaction.

This paper proposed bitmap based spatial data transmission scheme in need of rapid transmission through network in mobile environment that use and creation of data are frequently happen. Former researches that used clustering algorithms, focused on providing service using spatial data can cause delay since it doesn't consider the transmission speed. This paper guaranteed rapid service for user by convert spatial data to bit, leads to more transmission of bit of MTU, the maximum transmission unit. In the experiment, we compared arithmetically default data composed of 16 byte and spatial data converted to bitmap and for simulation, we created virtual data and compared its network transmission speed and conversion time. Virtual data created as standard normal distribution and skewed distribution to compare difference of reading time. The experiment showed that converted bitmap and network transmission are 2.5 and 8 times faster for each.
