  • A time domain finite element based method is employed to analyze wave radiation by multiple cylinders. The nonlinear free surface and body surface boundary conditions are satisfied based on the perturbation method up to the second order. The first- and second-order velocity potential problems at each time step are solved through a finite element method (FEM). The matrix equation of the FEM is solved through an iteration and the initial solution is obtained from the result at the previous time step. The three-dimensional (3D) mesh required is generated based on a two-dimensional (2D) hybrid mesh on a horizontal plane and its extension in the vertical direction. The hybrid mesh is generated by combining an unstructured grid away from cylinders and two structured grids near the cylinder and the artificial boundary, respectively. The fluid velocity on the free surface and the cylinder surface are calculated by using a differential method. Results for various configurations including two-cylinder and four-cylinder cases are provided to show the mutual influence due to cylinders on the first and second waves and forces.

  • Cloud computing has gained great popularity because users don't need to install any softwares as well as maintain hardwares and service providers also can utilize its resources through virtualization of servers. As workflows feature variableness and servers are heterogenous, efficient scheduling of workflows in cloud computing is important factor in view of responsibility and resource utilization. In this paper, we propose a new workflow scheduling named 2-step scheduling which prioritizes each workflow through its significance degree and allocates resources to workflows through decision table. The goal of this 2-step scheduling is to improve responsibility as well as availability versus cost. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme in contrast of counterparts can improve the responsibility as well as availability of resource.

  • PURPOSES : This study is to develop ISM for potential risk factor in School Zone. METHODS : Based on the literature review, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) has been used most widely. However, it is difficult to apply in practice because the AHP results have the characteristics of the independence between each element and the interlayer can not explain the interrelationship. The Network Analysis Process (ANP) is possible to analyze the relationship between the elements and the network through the feedback. But, the reliability of the analysis fall because of complicated pair of comparison, also it is difficult to solve the super matrix. In this study, the complicated relationship between each element is inquired through the Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM). RESULTS : The methodology of ISM is developed to remove the children's potential risk factors in school zone. CONCLUSIONS : It is possible to remove the children's potential risk factors from low level to high level step by step and improve safety. Through this, risk factors can be removed from the low-level, and upper-level will automatically improve.

  • The purpose of this paper is to propose a notification service for preventing unexpected accidents which will be occurred by enlisted men's stress in Korean Army. For this purpose we first evaluate the enlisted men's stress with reliable evaluation tools through survey. A representative sample size of about 1,500 enlisted men from all seven unit types was selected and surveyed considering types of unit, ranks, and regional characteristics. In the second, we analyse the results of level of stresses and stress reactions to distinguish high potential enlisted men who will happen to accident. Through the second step, we know enlisted men's stress reactions are different depending their unit types. Therefore the basic information about their stresses will be judged respectively according to their unit types. In the final step, we propose a notification service that offer the information about high potential enlisted men who will happen to accident to their managers rapidly through military Intranet and information systems. Their managers will get the previous information about occurrence of unexpected accidents and have time to check various things before they are occurred. We hope the proposed service contributes to prevent unexpected accidents and reduce the effort of military managers. Furthermore this paper offers several recommendations to apply the proposed service to Korean Army.

  • Corporations adopt a segmentation depends on the existence of target variables, in general. In this paper, for the case of no target variables, a strategy through segmentation is proposed for corporations having a special status based on the management index. In case of segmentation using cluster analysis, however, if one classify according to many variables then he will be in face of difficulties in characterizing. Therefore, after extracting representative factors by factor analysis, a segmentation method through 2 step cluster analysis is employed on the basis of these representative factors. As a result, six segmentation groups are found and the resulting strategy is proposed which strengthens prominent factors and makes up defective factors for each group.

  • The various eluents have been used for the separations of alkaline earth metals by elutions through cation exchange resin column by many investigators. We find, the mixed solution of 1M HAc and 1M NaAc (pH 4.75) is the best eluent for this purpose, becouse the one step elution through 7cm Dowex 50w${\times}$8(100~200mesh) resin column with this eluent, gives the quantitative separation. When 2M NaAc is used as a eluent Sr(II) and Ba(II) is separated easily without any contamination of Mg(II) andCa(II). The Ca-Pb alloy which is composed of Cu, Ca, Sr, Ba and abundance of Pb metal is separated quantitatively into its components by the two step elution with 0.3M HAc + 0.3M NaAc(PH 4.75) and 0.5M HAc + 0.5M NaAc(PH 4.75) as eluents through 10cm resin column.

  • Although the safety management plan review system according to the Construction Technology Promotion Act for securing the safety of the construction work is a fundamental system essential for the prevention of the construction industry disaster, the necessity of its improvement has been raised because it often fails to meet the original purpose. In this study, through the analysis of the effect of the safety management plan and the problems of the operation, we suggest ways to improve it in view of the construction accident reduction and conducted surveys on the construction site through the questionnaires of the client, construction company, and construction business technology manager. In order to improve the effectiveness of this system as a result of the study, it is necessary to distribute the guidelines for the preparation of the safety management plan, manuals, etc., to simplify the contents of the safety management plan, also the step-by-step approval of the safety plan can be a solution. For this, it is necessary to revise the policy through consultation with the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs and related experts.

  • The electrooxidation of 8-(3-acetylimino-6-methyl 2,4-dioxopyran)-1-aminonaphthaline (AMDAN) in aqueous and non aqueous media led to the formation of polymeric films, poly (AMDAN). The monomer, undergo anodic oxidation through the formation of a monocation radical irrespective of the nature of the medium. In aqueous medium, the monocation radical undergoes, through its resonance structures, dimerisation involving tail-to-tail, head-to-tail and even head-to-head coupling. The products formed, being more easily oxidisable than the parent substance, undergo further oxidation at the same potential so that the overall oxidation involves a one-step (i.e., a single wave), two-electron process. In non-aqueous medium, the monocation radical does not undergo dimerisation through coupling reactions. Retaining its identity, monomer oxidise in two steps involving one electron in each step. The fact that the cathodic peaks corresponding to these anodic peaks are rarely observed indicates fast consumption of the electrogenerated monocation radicals and dications by follow-up chemical reactions to produce polymeric products (poly AMDAN). The electrochemical behavior of the formed polymer films was investigated in both non aqueous and aqueous media. The films prepared in non aqueous medium were found to be more electroactive than that the films prepared in aqueous medium. This is confirmed with the results in litreature which illustrate that the film prepared in aqueous solution hold water in its structure via hydrogen bonding, which causes decomposition reactions.

  • The elimination process of cloud-contaminated pixels is one of important steps before obtaining the accurate parameters of land and ocean surface from AVHRR imagery. We developed a 6step threshold method to detect the cloud-contaminated pixels from NOAA-14/AVHRR datime imagery over land using different combination of channels. This algorithm has two phases : the first is to make a cloud-free characteristic data of land surface using compositing techniques from channel 1 and 5 imagery and a dynamic threshold of brightness temperature, and the second is to identify the each pixel as a cloud-free or cloudy one through 4-step threshold tests. The merits of this method are its simplicity in input data and automation in determining threshold values. The threshold of infrared data is calculated through the combination of brightness temperature of land surface obtained from AVHRR imagery, spatial variance of them and temporal variance of observed land surface temperature. The method detected the could-comtaminated pixels successfully embedded inthe NOAA-14/AVHRR daytime imagery for the August 1 to November 30, 1996 and March 1 to July 30, 1997. This method was evaluated through the comparison with ground-based cloud observations and with the enhanced visible and infrared imagery.
