PHOTOCHEMICAL REACTION OF POLYHEDRAL BORON COMPOUND WITH DIBROMOCARBENE

  • The photochemical reaction of phenyl(tribromomethyl)mercury with nido-decaborane gives a new boron cluster expanded compound. The two borons at the 6- and 9- positions in decaborane behave as electrophilic centers for the reaction with dibromocarbene. The first step in this reaction is the addition of two molar equivalents of dibromocarbene which is produced from phenyl(tribromomethyl)mercury to nido-decaborane. In the second step the unstable intermediate generates the product, 1,2-$Br_2C_2B_{10}H_{10}$ through loss of H$_2$.

Therefore, our auto parts makers need to cope with the QS-9000. This paper describes the interrelationship between ISO 9000 requirements and the QS-9000 requirements, the way to solve the problems step by step that originate from the QS-9000 quality system auditing and QS-9000 tendancy.

고추의 꼭지제거 시스템 개발(I) -꼭지제거의 원리- (Development of Red Pepper Calyx-plucking System(I))

  • Red pepper is composed of pericarp and calyx. Calyx must be removed for the producton of high quality powdered red pepper. However, an apparatus to effectively remove calyx is not available. This study was performed to develop a method to remove calyx. According to the result of this study, the following method was found out to be very effective. Step 1 : Red pepper must be compressed by a compressing apparatus such as roller system. Step 2 : Calyx in red pepper must be plucked out when red pepper passes through roller system with relative velocity.

Strategic Cattle Roundup using Multiple Quadrotor UAVs

  • Four quadrotor UAVs are maneuvered to guide four animals into their pen within the minimum time by creating noises of predators modeled with an exponential function. The quadrotor UAVs are controlled via PID controllers, follow time optimal trajectories, and avoid collisions through altitude separations. The stability of the proposed PID controller is analyzed and verified using MATLAB/Simulink based simulations. Proposed step by step strategies would be practical solutions of actual cattle roundup problems.

  • Gait analysis through wearable sensors is becoming a key research topic in mobile. In gait analysis, step detection is one of the most important processes that will lay down the foundation for future implementation. In this paper, we will propose a simpler algorithm to determine and analyze the steps using accelerometer sensor built-in mobile phone that physically placed into the trouser pocket. This is the location where most of mobile devices are. With 5 volunteers walking in 160 seconds, the accuracy of this method is approximately 98.5%.

  • Step-by-step laboratory performance test and repetitive improvement of KRRI rail fastening system show that it has the similar capability as other fastening systems that have been globally used. In this study, for the evaluation of field applicability, construction and rolling-stock operation test of KRRI rail fastening system are performed. Through this approach, comparison against the service criteria of foreign countries are made.

  • In order to minimize straightness error of deflected shafts, a automatically bending process control system is designed, fabricated, and studied. The multi-step straightening process and the three-point bending process are developed for the geometric adaptive straightness control. Load-deflection relationship, on-line identification of variations of material properties, on-line springback prediction, and studied for the three-point bending processes. Selection of a loading point supporting condition are derved form fuzzy inference and fuzzy self-learning method in the multi-step straighternign process. Automatic straightening machine is fabricated by using the develped ideas. Validity of the proposed system si verified through experiments.

  • In this research, tool allocation methods are studied in conjunction with loading and muting in FMSs. The objective function is to minimize production time while maximizing machine utilization of the FMS with several constraints. The proposed method has 2 steps. The first step is to determine tool allocation type with the proposed tool allocation method. The second step is to design loading models with routing. The effectiveness of the proposed FMS operation procedure is shown through numerical examples.

  • Theoretical and experimental drawing characteristics for the step drawbead are discussed. The drawbead restraining forces and strains by the varous drawing angles are measured experimentally. Also, during the blank holding process, the strain distributions of upper and lower skins of specimens are analysed by the 2-D rigid-plastic F.E.M And the drawbead restraining forces and strain distributions for the drawn specimens by the drawing length are obtained by experiment.

  • An algorithmic approach to degree reduction of rational Bezier curves is presented. The algorithms are based on the degree reduction of polynomial Bezier curves. The method is introduced with the following steps: (a) convert the rational Bezier curve to polynomial Bezier curve by using homogenous coordinates, (b) reduce the degree of polynomial Bezier curve, (c) determine weights of degree reduced curve, (d) convert the Bezier curve obtained through step (b) to rational Bezier curve with weights in step (c).
