Three-dimensional trajectory of fluid particle is simulated by a particle motion, which is able to examine the influences of changes in the several parameters. To calculate the trajectory of a particle, the Runge-Kutta method was utilized. The use of a projectile of particles for the trajectory of liquid jet has been shown to be useful to estimate the influence of different operating parameters such as best particle diameter, density of liquid body, initial take-off velocity, wind velocity, cross wind velocity, take-off angle, and base angle for a released flow from the nozzle. The results give the trajectories of various types of particle of body and at different elevations, base angles, wind velocities and densities of liquid body. The trajectories in a vacuum show that air resistances decreases both the distance and the maximum height of a projectile, and also explain that the termination time is also reduced in air. In addition, the maximum distance in the x direction was obtained with take-off angles from 30 degrees to 45 degrees in still air and the projectile of particles was highly effected by wind and cross wind. Clearly, a particle has to be so positioned as to take the optimum possible advantage of the wind if the maximum distances is requested. The wind astern increased the maximum distances of x direction compared with the wind ahead. Finally, it is possible to optimize the design of pump by using these results.
Numerical experiments are conducted using a three-dimensional baroclinic equation model and a Lagrangian method for clarifying the effect of th settling velocity on the suspended solids diffusion caused by the dredging and the reclamination works. Diffusion characteristics of the neutral particles and the weighting particles is experimented by the Lagrangian particles trajectory model, The results show that the diffusion characteristics of the suspended solids is effected by the settling velocity classified by the particles size in the density layered semi-closed bay. To estimate exactly the diffusion characteristics of the suspended solids and the contaminant with weight the three-dimensional baroclinic equation model and the three-dimensional Lagrangian particles trajectory model considering the settling velocity of the particle in the density layered semi-closed bay must be used.
As the first step to investigate the fundamental mechanism of a dispersed two-phase flow, we studied the detailed interactions between bubble or particle motion and flow around it. Experiments were carried out with a rising bubble or particle in stagnant water in a vertical pipe. Particles with different densities, and/or different shapes were used for comparison with a bubble. We adopted 3D-PTV (Three-Dimensional Particle Tracking Velocimetry) for measuring the bubble or particle motions, and PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) for measuring the water flow simultaneously (Hybrid PIV). The experimental results showed that the oblate spheroidal solid particle rose along the longer axis direction at the point that the inclination of the longer axis reached the maximum, and the inclination direction changed after moving. The bubble moved to the direction that the spheroid's projected width grew up to the largest, and the minor axis of the oblate spheroidal body of the bubble was parallel to the moving direction. The trajectory of the center of the particle/bubble which was measured with 3D-PTV, was marked on the section (x-y) of the pipe. It exhibited the pattern of the particle/bubble motion.

We present a method for improving adaptability of Learning from Demonstration (LfD) strategy by combining the LfD and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). A trajectory generated from an LfD is modified with PSO by minimizing a fitness function that considers constraints. Finally, the final trajectory is suitable for a task and adapted for constraints. The effectiveness of the method is shown with a target reaching task with a manipulator in three-dimensional space.
This paper presents simulation results of particle transport in low-pressure, low-temperature plasma environment. The size dependent transport of particles in the plasma is investigated with a two-dimensional simulation tool developed in-house for plasma chamber analysis and design. The plasma model consists of the first two and three moments of the Boltzmann equation for ion and electron fluids respectively, coupled to Poisson's equation for the self-consistent electric field. The particle transport model takes into account all important factors, such as gravitational, electrostatic, ion drag, neutral drag and Brownian forces, affecting the motion of particles in the plasma environment. The particle transport model coupled with both neutral fluid and plasma models is simulated through a Lagrangian approach tracking the individual trajectory of each particle by taking a force balance on the particle. The size dependant trap locations of particles ranging from a few nm to a few ${\mu}m$ are identified in both electropositive and electronegative plasmas. The simulation results show that particles are trapped at locations where the forces acting on them balance. While fine particles tend to be trapped in the bulk, large particles accumulate near bottom sheath boundaries and around material interfaces, such as wafer and electrode edges where a sudden change in electric field occurs. Overall, small particles form a "dome" shape around the center of the plasma reactor and are also trapped in a "ring" near the radial sheath boundaries, while larger particles accumulate only in the "ring". These simulation results are qualitatively in good agreement with experimental observation.

Numerical simulation was performed for the 3-dimensional flow filed of gas and particle phase for cyclone dust collector. FVM(Finite Volume Method) was employed for gas phase. The flow was solved suing the k-.varepsilon. epsilon turbulence model. The particle exit at the bottom of the cone was treated as a solid wall in this model because the gas flow through the effective dust exit is usually insignificant. The major parameters considered in this study was vortex finder diameter, effective dust exit diameterm vortex finder length, inlet type for dimension performance. Particle trajectory calculations were made for three different, particle sizes of 1, 25 and 50 .mu.m. The results obtained from this study give some physical insight of dust particle collection mechanism together with the indication of the collection efficiency. The simulation results were in generally good agreement with empirical knowledge. The application of this kind of computer program looks promising as a potential tool for the design of cyclone and determination of optimum operating condition.

Using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method, we investigated three-dimensional fluid flow field and particle movement with respect to the injected gas flow rate variation in typical cyclone separator system. The results of numerical investigation were deduced by coupling the analysis of fluid flow field with Wavier-stokes equation and the tracking of the particle trajectory with Langrangian approach. It was shown that the increasing of injected gas flow rate resulted in the increasing of pressure loss in the separator. This change of inner pressure had an effect on an aspect of the fluid flow in the separator. Particle movement was determined by fluid flow in the separator and was fully depended on a diameter of particles under the fixed flow rate. Increasing of injected gas flow rate was led to an increasing of the trace of particle, so the particles moved to the lower part of the separator. For this reason, the minimum diameters of the particles were decreased and increased the separation rate under the fixed particle diameter. In conclusion, the changes of injected gas flow rate have an important factor to the fluctuation of the fluid flow field and particle trajectory in the separator.
Background: It is necessary to consider the overall countermeasure for analysis of nuclear activities according to the increase of the nuclear facilities like nuclear power and reprocessing plants in the neighboring countries including China, Taiwan, North Korea, Japan and South Korea. South Korea and comprehensive nuclear-test-ban treaty organization (CTBTO) are now operating the monitoring instruments to detect radionuclides released into the air. It is important to estimate the origin of radionuclides measured using the detection technology as well as the monitoring analysis in aspects of investigation and security of the nuclear activities in neighboring countries. Materials and methods: A three-dimensional forward/backward trajectory model has been developed to estimate the origin of radionuclides for a covert nuclear activity. The developed trajectory model was composed of forward and backward modules to track the particle positions using finite difference method. Results and discussion: A three-dimensional trajectory model was validated using the measured data at Chernobyl accident. The calculated results showed a good agreement by using the high concentration measurements and the locations where was near a release point. The three-dimensional trajectory model had some uncertainty according to the release time, release height and time interval of the trajectory at each release points. An atmospheric dispersion model called long-range accident dose assessment system (LADAS), based on the fields of regards (FOR) technique, was applied to reduce the uncertainties of the trajectory model and to improve the detective technology for estimating the radioisotopes emission area. Conclusion: The detective technology developed in this study can evaluate in release area and origin for covert nuclear activities based on measured radioisotopes at monitoring stations, and it might play critical tool to improve the ability of the nuclear safety field.
Northeastward drifts of massive Sargassum patches were observed in the East China Sea (ECS) and Yellow Sea (YS) by the Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) in May 2017. Coverage of the brown macroalgae patches was the largest ever recorded in the ECS and YS. Three-dimensional circulation modeling and Lagrangian particle tracking simulations were conducted to reproduce drifting trajectories of the macroalgae patches. The trajectories of the macroalgae patches were controlled by winds as well as surface currents. A windage (leeway) factor of 1% was chosen based on sensitivity simulations. Southerly winds in May 2017 contributed to farther northward intrusion of the brown macroalgae into the YS. Although satellite observation and numerical modeling have their own limitations and associated uncertainties, the two methods can be combined to find the best estimate of Sargassum patch trajectories. When satellites were unable to capture all patches because of clouds and sea fog in the ECS and YS, the Lagrangian particle tracking model helped to track and restore the missing patches in satellite images. This study suggests that satellite monitoring and numerical modeling are complementary to ensure accurate tracking of macroalgae patches in the ECS and YS.

Incompressible flow inside a circular cylinder Including periodically oscillating free surface waves was studied primarily by using a numerical method. We developed a finite difference scheme based on the MAC method applicable to three-dimensional free-surface flows, and applied it to the present flow model to study tho flow characteristics as well as the fluid stirring. To verify the validity of our scheme, we performed a simple experiment for flow visualization. We found that the numerical results show a reasonable agreement with the observed flow patterns.
