This paper proposes precision evaluation method for the positioning error of three-DOF translational parallel mechanism. The proposed method uses conventional CMM as metrology equipment to measure the position of end-effector. In order to obtain accurate measurement data from CMM, the transform relationship between the coordinate system of the parallel mechanism and the CMM coordinate system must be identified. For this purpose, a new coordinate referencing (or coordinate system identification) technique is presented. By using this technique accurate coordinate transformation relationships are efficiently established. According to these coordinate transformation relationships, an equation to calculate error components at any arbitrary position of the end-effector is derived. In addition, mathematical fitting models to represent the position error components in the two-dimensional workspace of the parallel mechanism are also constructed based on response surface methodology. The proposed error evaluation method proves its effectiveness through the experimental results and its application to real three-DOF parallel mechanism.

This study proposes a new soft-switching three-level flying capacitor converter with low filter inductance. The proposed converter can achieve zero voltage switching (ZVS) turn-on of all switches by using auxiliary components La and Ca. It can also reduce filter inductance because the applied voltage of the filter inductor is decreased by using the flying capacitor. Furthermore, filter inductance can be reduced because the operating frequency of the filter inductor is doubled by the phase shifting between switches S3 and S4. The operation principle, design of passive components for ZVS turn-on, interleaving effects, and comparison of different topologies are presented. The experimental waveforms of a 1 kW two-phase interleaved converter prototype are provided to verify the validity of the proposed converter.
The safety of electronic components used in aerospace systems against cosmic rays is one of the most important requirements in their design and construction (especially satellites). In this work, by calculating the dose caused by proton beams in geostationary Earth orbit (GEO) orbit using the MCNPX Monte Carlo code and the MULLASSIS code, the effect of different structures in the protection of cosmic rays has been evaluated. A multi-layer radiation shield composed of aluminum, water and polyethylene was designed and its performance was compared with shielding made of aluminum alone. The results show that the absorbed dose by the simulated protective layers has increased by 35.3% and 44.1% for two-layer (aluminum, polyethylene) and three-layer (aluminum, water, polyethylene) protection respectively, and it is effective in the protection of electronic components. In addition to that, by replacing the multi-layer shield instead of the conventional aluminum shield, the mass reduction percentage will be 38.88 and 39.69, respectively, for the two-layer and three-layer shield compared to the aluminum shield.
A dynamic analysis procedure is developed to provide a comprehensive estimation of the dynamic response spectrum for locomotive's wheels running over a Pre-Stressed Concrete (PSC) box girder bridge on the Korea high speed railway. The wheel force spectrum with the bridge behavior are analyzed as the dynamic procedure for various running speeds (50~450km/h). The high-speed railway locomotive (KTX) is used as 38-degree of freedom system. Three displacements(vertical, lateral, and longitudinal) and three rotational components (pitching, rolling, and yawing). For one car-body and two bogies as well as five movements except pitching rotation components for four wheel axes forces are considered in the 38-degree of freedom model. Three dimensional frame element is used to model of the PSC box girder bridges, simply supported span length of 40m. The irregulation of rail-way is derived using the exponential spectrum density function under assumption of twelve level tracks conditions based on the normal probability procedure. The dynamic responses of bridge passing through the railway locomotive with high-speed analyzed by Newmark-${\beta}$ method and Runge-Kutta method are compared and contrasted considering the developed models of bridge, track and locomotive comprehensively. The dynamic analyses of wheel forces by Runge-Kutta method which are able to analyze the forces with high frequency running on the bridge and ground rail-way are conducted. Additionally, wheel forces spectrum and three rotational components of vehicle body for three typical running speeds is also presented.
In this paper, we presented geometric CAD watermarking scheme for Architectural design drawings using line, arc, and circle components to prevent infringement of copyright from unlawfulness reproductions and distribution. The conventional CAD watermarking scheme can be applied to both line and arc components. But the proposed scheme consists of line, arc and circle watermarking schemes for three basic components of CAD design. After extracting line, arc and circle components from designed drawing, the watermark is embedded into the length of Line component, the angle of arc component, and the radius of circle component considering the robustness against various geometric transformations. The embedding strengths in each component are determined to be preserving the transparency of the watermark. By experimental result, we confirmed the robustness and the invisibility of embedded watermarks in several conversions of architectural design drawing.

This paper describes a step-by-step method to minimize design iterations in a process of product design change. In the design process, two components are coupled if a change of a component can require the other components change, and design iterations are generated by the coupling. The design iteration is one of main factors that increase design effort. In this study, three matrices are used to solve the design iteration of automatic transmission lever, Requirement-Engineering matrix, Engineering-Components matrix, and DSM(Design Structure Matrix). Firstly, with the DSM, the product architecture and conceptual design process are proposed from product function analysis. Secondly, with the QFD, the Requirement-Engineering matrix and Engineering-Components matrix present the relationship among customer requirements, engineering issues, and product components. Lastly, the results of the QFD analysis are used in the DSM to solve the component interactions and to provide design

Machine tool errors have to be characterized and predicted to improve machine tool accuracy. A real-time error compensation system has been developed based on volumetric error synthesis model which is composed of machine tool errors. This paper deals with new algorithm about verification of machine tool errors. This new algorithm uses a simplified volumetric error synthesis model. This simplified model is constructed with only main components among the error components of the machines. This main error components are analyzed by three-dimensional helical ball bar test. By substituting result of helical ball bar test fer simplified model, we could find that obtained error components are closed to real error components.

Thin-walled die casting of aluminum notebook computer housing with less than 1mm thickness was investigated by using computational solidification simulation and actual casting experiment. Three different types of gate design, finger, tangential and split type, were used and the results showed that sound thin-walled die casting was possible with tangential and split type gating design because those gates allowed aluminum melt flowed into the thin-wall cavity uniformly and split type gating system was preferable gating design than tangential type at the point of view of soundness of casting and distortion generated after solidification. Also, solidification simulation agreed well with the actual die-casting and the casting showed no casting defect and distortion.

Recycling of used products and components has been considered as one of promising strategies for resolving environmental problems. In this respect, most manufacturing companies begin to consider possible recycling (e.q., reuse or re-production) of the components contained in their products. The primary objective of this research is to develop a multiple criteria decision making model for systematic management of recycle-oriented manufacturing components. The production planning problem of recycle-oriented manufacturing components is first formulated as a multiobjective mixed 0-1 integer programming model with three conflicting objectives. An interactive multiple criteria decision making method is then developed for solving the mathematical model. Also, an Input/Output analysis software is developed to help practitioners apply the model to real problems without much knowledge on computers and mathematical programming. A numerical example is used in examining the validity of the proposed model and to investigate the impact of the input variables on recycling production strategy.
The volatile components of citron juice juice extracted by three methods, which were Rotary-crushing and screening method (method I), Pressing method (method II) and Belt pressing method (method III), were analyzed with GC and GC/MS. Juice extracted by method III had more components of flavor than those by methods I and II. Also, the contents of total volatile components in method III were about 1.36 and 1.59 times than those in methods I and II, respectively. Limonene in juice extracted by method III was predominantly occupied, amount of which was 76.87%. Other important components were terpene hydrocarbons, such as ${\gamma}-terpinene$, ${\alpha}-terpinene$ and so on.
