The Resistivity Properties and Adhesive Strength of Cu Thin Firms Fabricated by EBE Method (전자빔 증착법으로 제작한 Cu 박막의 부착력과 저항율 특성)

  • In this thesis, We Fabricated Cu thin films of 1000 $\AA$, 3000 $\AA$, and 6000 $\AA$ thickness on the single crystal sapphire, polycrystal alumina, and amorphous slide glass substrates deposited by electron beam evaporation(EBE) method. We investigated properties of resistivity and adhesion of these Cu thin films under various conditions, substrate temperature(room temperature, 10$0^{\circ}C$, 20$0^{\circ}C$ under vacuum) and annealing temperatures(400 $^{\circ}C$, 600 $^{\circ}C$ for 30 min after the deposition). We found that these adhesion was increased in order of slide glass, sapphire, and alumina. The adhesion of the Cu thin films on alumina was high value about 4 times, compared with that of the Cu thin films on slide glass. We found that these resistivities were decreased with increasing substrate temperature and thin film thickness. The resistivity(2.05 $\mu$Ω\ulcornercm) of the Cu thin films with 6000 $\AA$ thickness at 200 $^{\circ}C$ on the slide glass was low value, compared with that of aluminum(2.66 $\mu$Ω\ulcornercm).

Efface of Annealing in a Reduction Ambient on Thermoelectric Properties of the $(Bi,Sb)_{2}Te_{3}$ Thin Films Processed by Vacuum Evaporation (환원분위기 열처리가 $(Bi,Sb)_{2}Te_{3}$ 증착박막의 열전특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Effects of annealing process in a reduction ambient on thermoelectric properties of the $(Bi,Sb)_{2}Te_3$ thin films prepared by thermal evaporation have been investigated. With annealing at $300^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs in a reduction ambient(50% $H_2$+50% Ar), the crystallinity of the $(Bi,Sb)_{2}Te_3$ thin films were substantially improved with remarkable increase in the grain size. Seebeck coefficients of the $(Bi,Sb)_{2}Te_3$ thin films increased from$\sim90{\mu}V/K$ to $\sim180{\mu}V/K$ with annealing in the reduction ambient due to decrease in the hole concentration. Power factors of the $(Bi,Sb)_{2}Te_3$ thin films were remarkably improved for $5\sim16$ times with annealing in the reduction atmosphere. After annealing in the reduction ambient, a $(Bi,Sb)_{2}Te_3$ evaporated film exhibited a maximum power factor of $18.6\times10^{-4}W/K^{2}-m$.

Optical and Structural Properties of TiO2 Thin Films Prepared at Various Oxygen Pressure by Electron-Beam Evaporation (산소 분압에 따라 전자빔 증착법으로 제작된 TiO2 박막의 구조적.광학적 특성)

  • We prepared $TiO_2$ thin films by electron-beam evaporation at various oxygen pressures, and investigated their optical and structural properties as a function of the annealing temperature. The physical properties of the $TiO_2$ thin films depend upon the injection oxygen content. With the increased injection of oxygen, the phase transformation temperature and the transmittance of $TiO_2$ thin films in the range of visible wavelength were increased. For low injection of oxygen, the absorption edges of $TiO_2$ thin films were more red-shifted when annealed at temperatures from $700^{\circ}C$ to $1100^{\circ}C$.

  • Ultra-thin polymer films containing cobalt(II) meso-tetraphenylporphyrin(CoTPP) have been prepared by vacuum codeposition of the metal complex and trans-2-butene as an organic monomer using an inductively coupled RF glow discharge operating at 7-9 Watts. The polymer films were characterized by sorption measurements. Sorption data obtained for polymer films containing CoTPP indicate that the CoTPP molecules are capable of reversibly binding oxygen molecules. It was found that the adjacent CoTPP molecules in the aggregated metal complex phase could irreversibly share the oxygen molecules. A dispersion of the metal complex molecules in the polymer matrix was made to maintain the reversible reactivity of the metal complex molecules with oxygen in the polymer films via vacuum evaporation process. The Henry mode solubility constant, the Langmuir mode capacity constant, the amount of binding oxygen, and the dissociation equilibrium in the dual mode sorption theory were discussed.

Electrical and Optical Properties of CdS Thin Film with Different Substrate Temperatures (CdS 박막의 기판온도 변화에 따른 전기 및 광학적 특성)

  • In this paper, CdS thin films for the use of window layer in solar cell were fabricated by vacuum evaporation method to improve the reproducibility, The electrical and optical properties of thin films with the variations of substrates temperature and the variations of the film thickness were investigated. As increasing the substrates temperature the resistivities of films were increased. The samples transmissivity were shown over 70% when the wavelength were above 500 nm. In the films with 280 nm thickness, its transmissivity were reached 100%. The resistivities of the samples were decreased as increasing its thickness.

  • Organic semiconductors based on conjugated thiophene oligomer have great potential to be utilized as an active layer far electronic and optoelectronic devices. In this study, $\alpha$ -sexithiophene($\alpha$-6T) thin films and various electrode materials were deposited by Organic Molecular Beam Deposition(OMBD) and vacuum evaporation respectively. Those films were photolithographically patterned fur measurements. Electrical characterization of the thin film transistor with various channel length were measured, and field effect mobility is calculated by formula.

The Optical Properties of $ZnS/Na_3AlF_6$ Multi-layer Thin Films with Different Optical Thickness ($ZnS/Na_3AlF_6$ 다층박막의 광학적 두께 변화에 따른 광특성)

  • $ZnS/Na_3AlF_6$ multi-layer thin film were produced by evaporation system. ZnS were selected as a high refractive index material and $Na_3AlF_6$ were selected as low refractive index material. Optical properties including color effect were systematically studied in terms of different optical thickness by spectrophotometer. In oder to compare with experimental data, the Essential Macleod Program(EMP) was adopted that simulation program. The thin film consisting of $ZnS/Na_3AlF_6$ multi-layer show the wave length of $530{\sim}600nm$, typically color range between purple, blue, green. It was confirmed that this experimental result was well matched with simulation data.

X-ray Response Characteristic of Zn in the Polycrystalline Cd1-xZnxTe Detector for Digital Radiography

  • The Cdl-xZnxTe film was fabricated by thermal evaporation for the flat-panel X-ray detector. The stoichimetric ratio and the crystal structure of a polycrystalline Cd$_{1-x}$ Zn$_{x}$Te were investigated by EPMA and XRD, respectively. The leakage current and X-ray sensitivity of the fabricated films were measured to analyze the X-ray response characteristic of Zn in the polycrystalline CdZnTe thin film. The leakage current and the output charge density of Cd$_{0.7}$Zn$_{0.3}$Te thin film were measured to 0.37 nA/cm$^2$ and 260 pc/cm$^2$ at an applied voltage of 2.5 V/${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, respectively. Experimental results showed that the increase of Zn doping rates in Cd$_{1-x}$ Zn$_{x}$Te detectors reduced the leakage current and improved the signal to noise ratio significantly.

  • We have developed the transparent passivation layer for top emission organic light emitting diodes using CsCl thin film by the thermal evaporation method. The CsCl film was deposited on the Ca/Ag semitransparent cathode. The optical transmittance of Ca/ Ag/CsCl triple layer is higher than that of Ca/Ag double layer in the visible range. The device with a structure of glass/Ni/2-TNATA/a-NPD/Alq3:C545T/BCP/Alq3/Ca/Ag/CsCl results in higher efficiency than the device without CsCl passivation layer. The device without CsCl thin film shows a current efficiency of 7 cd/A, whereas the device passivated with CsCl layer shows an efficiency of 10 cd/A. This increase of efficiency isresulted from the increased optical extraction by the CsCl passivation layer.

  • Transmittances of SiO2 and ZrO2 thin films, made by the electron beam evaporation method, were measured with a spectrophotometer to be used in determining their optical constants and thicknesses in the envelop method. New color glass lenses with high transmittance, which now can be manufactured in the industry, was successfully designed by using these constants. Also the vacuum evaporator could be mechanically corrected with these constants as correction factors.
