In this experiment the Iron phthalocyanine (FePc) films on Si-wafer and alumina pallet were prepared using vacuum sublimation with conditions of changing reaction time, temperature, and deposition rate. Then, some samples were annealed following annealing. Techniques such as XRD, SEM, and resistance measurement method, were dedicated to characterize the changes of surface structure, phase transformation and electric resistance sensitivity in accordance with change of film thickness. In proportion to the decrease of deposition temperature from $370^{\circ}C$ to $350^{\circ}C$, intensities of (200), (011), (211) and (114) planes of $\alpha$-phase were decreased and (100) plane of $\beta$-phase were appeared. The film thickness were controlled by regulating the volume of precursor material during rapid deposition. As a result, it was observed that crystalline particle size had been increased according to the increase of film thickness and $\alpha$-phase transformed to $\beta$-phase. In consequence of measuring the crystallinity of films annealed between $150^{\circ}C$ and $350^{\circ}C$, $\alpha$- to $\beta$-phase transformation was appeared to begin at $150^{\circ}C$ and completely transformed to $\beta$-phase at $350^{\circ}C$. Electric resistance sensitivity of FePc film to $NO_x$ gas along temperature change of FePc films was observed to be more stable with the decrease of the film thickness.
The mechanism of electrochemical polymerization of polypyrrole was analyzed using Q.C.A. via measuring the resonant frequency and resonant resistance of AT-cut quartz crystal, whose electrodes were fabricated with indium tin oxide by sputtering method. The quantity of polymerized polypyrrole was able to be calculated from the resonant frequency and the viscoelasticity of polypyrrole film from resonant resistance. We found that the elastic film is formed at the first stage of the polymerization, but transformed to viscoelastic film later and that this transition repeated at some point. From these results, it was confirmed that the rheological characteristics of electrochemically polymerized polypyrrole thin film can be analyzed using Q.C.A.

Ambient-light sensor system, which changes the brightness of a display as ambient light change, was studied to reduce the power consumption of the mobile applications such as note PC, tablet PC and smart phone. The ambient-light sensor system should be integrated on a display panel to improve the complexity and cost of mobile applications, so the ambient-light sensor and readout circuit was integrated on a display panel using low-temperature poly-silicon thin film transistors (LTPS-TFT). We proposed the new compensation method to correct the panel-to-panel variation of the ambient-light sensors, without additional equipment. We designed and investigated the new readout circuit with the proposed compensation method and the analog-to-digital converter for the final digital output of ambient light. The readout circuit has very simple structure and control timing to be integrated with LTPS-TFT, and the input luminance ranges from 10 to 10,000 lux. The readout rate is 100 Hz, and maximum differential non-uniformity with 20 levels of the final output below 0.5 LSB.
We fabricated gas recognition system using conducting polymer sensor array for recognizing and analyzing VOCs(Volatile Organic Compounds) gases. The polypyrrole and polyaniline thin film sensors which were made by chemical polymerization were employed to detect VOCs. The multi-dimensional sensor signals obtained from the sensor array were analyzed using PCA(principal component analysis) technique and RBF(radial basis function) Network. Throughout the experimental trails, we confirmed that RBF Network is effective than PCA technique in identifying VOCs.
We design a polarization-independent dielectric multilayer thin-film diffraction grating for a spectral-beam-combining (SBC) system with a simple grating structure and low aspect ratio. To maintain the high quality of the SBC beam, we propose a multilayer mirror structure in which the wavefront distortion due to stress accumulation is minimized. Moreover, to prevent light absorption from contamination, an optimized design to minimize the grating thickness was performed. The optimally designed diffraction grating has 99.36% diffraction efficiency for -1st-order polarization-independent light, for incidence at the Littrow angle and 1055-nm wavelength. It is confirmed that the designed diffraction grating has sufficient process margin to secure a polarization-independent diffraction efficiency of 96% or greater.

A novel technique for the fabrication of a glass micropipette-based thermal sensor was developed utilizing inexpensive thermocouple materials. Thermal fluctuation with a resolution of ${\pm}0.002$ K was measured using the fabricated thermal probe. The sensors comprise unleaded low-melting point solder alloy (Sn) as a core metal inside a borosilicate glass pipette coated with a thin film of Ni, creating a thermocouple junction at the tip. The sensor was calibrated using a thermally insulated calibration chamber, the temperature of which can be controlled with a precision of ${\pm}0.1$ K and the thermoelectric power (Seebeck coefficient) of the sensor was recorded from 8.46 to $8.86{\mu}V$/K. The sensor we have produced is both cost-effective and reliable for thermal conductivity measurements of micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) and biological temperature sensing at the micron level.
In this study, a PbS quantum dots (QDs)-based H2 gas sensor with a Pd electrode was proposed. QDs have a size of several nanometers, and they can exhibit a high surface area when forming a thin film. In particular, the NH2 present in the ligand of PbS QDs and H2 gas are combined to form NH3+, subsequently the electrical characteristics of the QDs change. In addition to the resistance change owing to the reaction between Pd and H2 gas, the resistance change owing to the reaction between the NH2 of PbS QDs and H2 gas increases the current signal at the sensor output, which can produce a high output signal for the same concentration of H2 gas. Using the XRD and absorbance properties, the synthesis and particle size of the synthesized PbS QDs were analyzed. Using PbS QDs, the sensitivity was significantly improved by 44%. In addition, the proposed H2 gas sensor has high selectivity because it has low reactivity with heterogeneous gases such as C2H2, CO2, and CH4.
With the increasing concern of global warming caused by greenhouse gases owing to the recent industrial development, there is a growing need for advanced technology to control these emissions. Among the various greenhouse gases, nitrogen dioxide (NO2) is a major contributor to global warming and is mainly released from sources, such as automobile exhaust and factories. Although semiconductor-type NO2 gas sensors, such as SnO2, have been extensively studied, they often require high operating temperatures and complicated manufacturing processes, while lacking selectivity, resulting in inaccurate measurements of NO2 gas levels. To address these limitations, a novel sensor using PbS quantum dots (QDs) was developed, which operates at low temperatures and exhibits high selectivity toward NO2 gas owing to its strong oxidation reaction. Furthermore, the use of P3HT conductive polymer improved the thin film quality, reactivity, and reaction rate of the sensor. The sensor demonstrated the ability to accurately measure NO2 gas concentrations ranging from 500 to 100 ppm, with a 5.1 times higher sensitivity, 1.5 times higher response rate, and 1.15 times higher recovery rate compared with sensors without P3HT.

For the fabrication of high sensitive intrinsic fiber optic Fabry-Perot interferometeric sensor, the deposition conditions of $TiO_{2}$ thin film used to the internal mirrors of the sensor were investigated. The $TiO_{2}$ film deposited by RF magnetron sputter had higher refractive index ($2.36{\sim}2.48$) and better stoiciometry (O/Ti = 2) than that deposited bye-beam evaporator. In the case of forming $TiO_{2}$ internal mirror by using fusion splicing technique, the $TiO_{2}$ reflection mirror deposited by RF magnetron sputter in the condition of 120W RF power showed high. reflectance and excellent controllability of reflection power. The fabricated intrinsic fiber optic Fabry-Perot interferometer with two $TiO_{2}$ internal mirrors deposited under the condition showed very stable fringe patterns. It is, therefore, expected that the interferometer will be applicable to various high precision sensors.

This paper describes the characteristics of a poly 3C-SiC micro heater which was fabricated on $AlN(0.1{\mu}m)/3C-SiC(1.0{\mu}m)$ suspended membranes by surface micro- machining technology. The 3C-SiC and AlN thin films which have wide energy bandgap and very low lattice mismatch were used sensors for high temperature and voltage environments. The 3C-SiC thin film was used as micro heaters and temperature sensor materials simultaneously. The implemented 3C-SiC RTD (resistance of temperature detector) and the power consumption of micro heaters were measured and calculated. The TCR (thermal coefficient of the resistance) of 3C-SiC RTD is about -5200 $ppm/^{\circ}C$ within a temperature range from $25^{\circ}C$ to $50^{\circ}C$ and -1040 $ppm/^{\circ}C$ at $500^{\circ}C$. The micro heater generates the heat about $500^{\circ}C$ at 10.3 mW. Moreover, durability of 3C-SiC micro heaters in high voltages is better than pt micro heaters. A thermal distribution measured and simulated by IR thermovision and COMSOL is uniform on the membrane surface.
