SOI(Silicon On lnsulator) technology is many advantages in the gabrication of MOS(Metal-Oxide Semiconductor) and CMOS(Complementary MOS) structures. These include high speed, lower dynamic power consumption, greater packing density, increased radiation tolearence et al. In smiple form of bonded SOL wafer manufacturing, creation of a bonded SOI structure involves oxidizing at least one of the mirror polished silicon surfaces, cleaning the oxidized surface and the surface of the layer to which it will be bonded, bringing the two cleanded surfaces together in close physical proximity, allowing the subsequent room temperature bonding to proceed to completion, and than following this room temperature joining with some form of heat treatment step, and device wafer is thinned to the target thickness. This paper has been performed to investigate the possibility of the bonded SOI wafer manufacturing Especially, we focused on the bonding quality and thinning method. Finally,we achieved the bonded SOI wafer that Si layer thickness is below 3 .mu. m and average roughness is below 5.angs.
In most previous investigations of plasmonic and metamaterial applications, the metallic film has been regarded as a perfect electrical conductor. Here we demonstrate the resonance characteristics of THz metamaterials fabricated from metal film that has a finite dielectric constant, using finite-difference time-domain simulations. We found strong redshift and spectral broadening of the resonance as we decrease the metal's plasma frequency in the Drude free-electron model. The frequency shift can be attributed to the effective thinning of the metal film, originating from the increase in penetration depth as the plasma frequency decreases. On the contrary, only peak broadening occurs with an increase in the scattering rate. The metal-thickness dependence confirms that the redshift and spectral broadening occur when the effective metal thickness drops below the skin-depth limit. The electromagnetic field distribution illustrates the reduced field enhancement and reduced funneling effects near the gap area in the case of low plasma frequency, which is associated with reduced charge density in the metal film.
This paper presents the applicability of rheological models for describing fine-laden debris flows and analyzes the flow characteristics as a function of grain size. Two types of soil samples were used: (1) clayey soils - Mediterranean Sea clays and (2) silty soils - iron ore tailings from Newfoundland, Canada. Clayey soil samples show a typical shear thinning behavior but silty soil samples exhibit the transition from shear thinning to the Bingham fluid as shear rate is increased. It may be due to the fact that the determination of yield stress and plastic viscosity is strongly dependent upon interstructrual interaction and strength evolution between soil particles. So grain size effect produces different flow curves. For modeling debris flows that are mainly composed of fine-grained sediments (<0.075 mm), we need the yield stress and plastic viscosity to mimic the flow patterns like shape of deposition, thickness, length of debris flow, and so on. These values correlate with the liquidity index. Thus one can estimate the debris flow mobility if one can measure the physical properties.
To propose a cause analysis method of pressurized facilities, a likelihood of failure (LOF) for the thinning module by hydrochloric acid corrosion was analyzed through the risk-based inspection (RBI) using API-581 BRD. For this investigation, the technical module subfactor (TMSF), as a main factor of the LOF, was estimated, and the effects of parameters on the TMSF were analyzed quantitatively. As a result, we found that the TMSF increased with increasing chloride ion concentration and temperature, but it decreased with increasing thickness of the facilities, inspection number and inspection effectiveness. Also, the TMSF showed a relatively low value for the monitoring system implemented and the overdesign factor>1.5. In this condition, the TMSF changed sensitively with the inspection number, the inspection effectiveness and the overdesign factor, and its magnitude varied with the monitoring system.

Through experiment that does not cause wrinkles in the forming process for the primary purpose for install PCB(Printed circuit board) the thickness variation of the material was investigated. Experimental results was showed that the forming height of the first process had Influence Material thickness variation in the second process, in the first process, the Entrance corner of the die must have round of the product height of 50%, and The height of forming should be as high as the thickness of the material than the original forming. Also as do implement the forming shape in the first process, the thickness of the material is thinned to 85%, Restriking in the second process was that The thickness of the material is thinned to 80%. Therefore, In order to implement a precise shape, Thinking that the material thinning, The die was maintain the shape of the original product, and It was obtain the effect of the compression that the punch is to be longer, as the sum of more than 20% of the material thickness in the depth of the original product.

Failure behaviors of thin cylinder with corrosion are very important for the integrity of boiler and pressure vessel system. In this study, FEM with internal pressure are conducted on 1000 mm diameter (length 3000 mm and thickness, 5.9 mm) SS400 carbon steel. Failure behaviors of locally wall thinned cylinders were calculated by elasto-plastic analysis using finite element method. The elasto-plastic analysis was performed by FE code ANSYS. We simulated various types of local wall thinning that can be occurred at cylinder surface due to corrosion. Locally wall thinned shapes were machined to be different in size along the circumferential or axial direction of straight cylinder. In case of local wall thinned length 30 mm, internal pressure, when the crack initiation and the plastic collapse occur, didn't decrease dramatically even though local wall thinned depth was deep. In 400 mm, the more local wall thinned depth is deep, the more internal pressure decreased dramatically. In degraded materials, crack is easily initiation but plastic collapse was difficult.
The role of viscosity index improver's(Ⅶ) additives for modem engine lubrication is complex. Under the condition of atmosphere or low shear rate, the characteristics of Ⅶ added lubricant is verified and quoted frequently for mathematical model of lubricant behavior. However, recent research shows that added lubricant has the characteristics of shear thinning at high shear rate condition although it performs well enough over the whole range of working temperature. At high shear rate, they show significant decrease of apparent viscosity irrespective of temperature. Many experimental researches verify that Ⅶ added lubricant shows boundary film layer formation on the solid surface as well as shear thinning effect by its polymeric molecular characteristics. The intend of our research is to verify the effects of Ⅶ from the viewpoint of continuum mechanics, because conventional Reynolds'equation with only pressure-viscosity relation cannot fully predict the lubricant behavior under the Ⅶ added condition. In these aspects, Reynolds'equation of Newtonian fluid model lacks the reflection of real fluid behavior and there is no way to explain the non-linear characteristics of Ⅶ added lubricant. In this research, we mathematically modeled the Ⅶ added lubricant behaviors which are the characteristics of non-Newtonian fluid behavior at high shear rate and boundary film formation on the solid surface. The consideration of elastic deformation in the contact region is also included in our computation and finally the converged film pressure and the film thickness with elastic deformation are obtained. The results are compared with those of Newtonian fluid model.
Tube hydroforming process is generally consisted with pre-bending, preforming and hydroforming processes. Among forming defects which may occur in tube hydroforming such as buckling, wrinkling and bursting, the wrinkling and bursting by local instability under excessive tensile stress mode were mainly caused by thinning phenomenon in the manufacturing process. Thus the accurate prediction and suitable evaluation of the thinning phenomenon play an important role in designing and producing the successfully hydroformed parts without any failures. In this work, the formability on hydroformed part for automobile, i.e. engine cradle, was evaluated using finite element analysis. The initial tube radius, loading path with axial feeding force and internal pressure, and preformed configuration after preforming process were considered as the dominant process parameters in total tube hydroforming process. The effects on these process parameters could be confirmed through the numerical experiments with respect to several kinds of finite element simulation conditions. The degree of enhancement on formability with each process parameters such as initial tube radius, loading path and preform configuration were also compared. Therefore, it is noted that the evaluation approach of the formability on hydroformed parts for lots of industrial fields proposed in this study will provide one of feasible methods to satisfy the increasing practical demands for the improvement of the formability in tube hydroforming processes.

This paper proposes an extraction method which extracts two different thematic maps, which have different line thickness from each other in a raster image that contains the two thematic maps. In the proposed method, the depth of each pixel is calculated according to the amount of pixels in its surrounding neighborhood, and then the thinning is performed. By using depth threshold, two thematic maps are first extracted from the thinning result. There are noise images and skeleton disconnection in the lines of each extracted thematic map. Each thematic map extraction is finally completed after removing the noise images and connecting the disconnected lines. Through the experiment, we showed that the proposed method could be used for the extraction of each thematic map of a raster image which included two thematic maps.
Prediction of the product shape in sheet casting process is performed from the numerical simulation. A three-dimensional finite element method is used to investigate the flow behavior and to examine the effects of processing conditions on the sheet produced. Effects of inertia, gravity, surface tension and non-Newtonian viscosity on the thickness profile of the sheet are considered since the edge bead and the flow patterns in the chill roll region have great influence on the quality of the products. In the numerical simulation with free surface flows, the spine method is adopted to update the free surface, and the force-free boundary condition is imposed along the take-up plane to avoid severe singularity problems existing at the take-up plane. From the numerical results of steady isothermal flows of a generalized Newtonian fluid, it is shown that the draw ratio plays a major role in predicting the shape of the final sheet produced and the surface tension has considerable effect on the bead thickness ratio and the bead width fraction, while shear-thinning and/or tension-thickening viscosity affect the degree of neck-in.
