  • In order to investigate the mechanism of pyroelectricity on polyvinylidene fluoride film, the observations were carried out on the characteristics of infrared spectra, thermally stimulated current and pyroelectric current. As the results obtained from the study, it was concluded that the origin for thermally stimulated current exhibited above room temperature can be attributed to hole injected from anode during poling process. Futhermore it is clarified also that the origin of pyroelectricity observed on the specimen concerned is to spontaneous polarization of CF dipole attached to molecular chain segment, however, the fraction of spontaneous polarization is largely influenced by the amount of hole injected from anode.

  • In this study, the properties of Thermally Stimulated Current is measured automatic Data Acquisition System with a A/D Converter set. The A/D Converter set is configured with DIO 8255(Intel), AMD 9513 Timer/Counter and some Programed Controllers. Especially, the numerical method of asymtotic estimation to separate single relaxation curve and physical factors related to charged particles were obtained rapidely and completely. As a result, the data obtained by automatic Acquisition System need to be corrected to average value and the whole control and inspectation system is needed.

  • $\alpha$--sulfur single crystal which has orthorohmbic structure was grown using Bridgman method. The indirect optical energy band gap of this crystal are 2.65 and 2.82 eV at 10 and 300K, respectively. The wavelengths of photoluminecence(PL) peaks are 543 and 596 nm at 10k, By thermally stimulated current (TSC) method, two electron traps($D_1,D_2$) located at 0/23 and 0.43eV below the conduction band and a hole trap(A) located at 0.31 eV above the valence band are observed. PL mechanism of $\alpha$-sulfur single crystal is analyzed using the values of optical energy band gap at 10k two electron traps and a hole trap.

  • The thermally stimulated current (TSC) of PVDF thin film prepared by physical vapor deposition method was investigated. PVDF shows three TSC peaks designated $P_1$, $P_2$ and $P_3$ in ascending order of temperature. The $P_1$ peak is associated with water in the PVDF specimen. $P_2$ and $P_3$ Peaks are specific peaks of $\alpha$ and $\beta$ type PVDF, respectively. The peak temperature was shifted to higher temperature, and peak intensity was decreased with increasing substrate temperature under thin film preparation.

  • Thermal Electet of the Zinc Oxide varistor has been studied in the temperature range of -130~200[$^{\circ}C$] and the electric field of 6[kV/m]. It appears that there are four peaks of thermally stimulated current; $\alpha$, $\beta$, ${\gamma}$ and $\delta$ spectra appearing at the temperature range of 160, 130, 20 and -30[$^{\circ}C$], respectively. It seems that the origin of $\alpha$, $\beta$, ${\gamma}$ and $\delta$ peaks are associated with the depolarization of donor ions in the depletion layer, the detrapping of trapped electron in the surface, the detrapping of trapped electron in the donor level and the detrapping of trapped electron between grain and intergranular, respectively.

  • In order to estimate spatial charging process in the corona charging which has been used to make polymer electret, the electrical properties of polypropylene film were obtained from Thermally Stimulated Current(TSC) measurements after corona charging between knife electrode and cylinder electrode with the voltages of -5, -6, -7 and -8[kV], respectively. And then the electrostatic contour and the electric field vector were also simulated by using Finite Element Method(FEM). The edge effect around edge of knife electrode affected the electrostatic contour on surface of specimen and the electric field concentration inside specimen. The uneven charging state in the electret due to the mistake on design could be calculated and so the optimal design of corona charging device which is appropriate to various materials is come to be practicable.

  • In this study, the Thermally Stimulated Current(TSC) of corona charged PTFE is studied and the simulation of corona charging process is also calculated by Finite Element Method. The electrets which were formed by applying high voltages (DC ${\pm}5{\sim}{\pm}8$ [kV]) to PTFE, are used to measure TSC in the temperature range of $-100{\sim}+200$ [$^{\circ}C$] and then the Finite Element Method is performed to examine corona charging process using a obtained physical constants. As a result. it is confirmed that the charging negative corona is profitable as the applications are manufactured, because the time constant of negative corona is much larger than it of positive corona. And it is attempted to estimate the corona charging process in space using simulation.

  • The electrical degradation phenomena of epoxy composites to be used as a molding material for transformers were studied. The electrets were first manufactured by applying high voltages to five kinds of specimens given a mixing rate, and then TSC(Thermally Stimulated Current) values at the temperature range of $-160{\sim}200[^{\circ}C]$ were measured from a series of experiments. The behaviour of carrier and its origin in epoxy composites were examined, respectively. And various effects of electrical degradation on epoxy composites were also discussed in this study.
