BIPV or double skin applied to the surface of the building, power and thermal load cannot both be increased. In the case of BIPV, because it is applied to the facade, incident solar energy decreases and efficiency drops off. The system in this paper complements these disadvantages and aims to decrease the heating & cooling load by transforming solar energy to electronic and thermal energy. The research in this paper is about the applicability of the clear PV attached double-skin system. And the PV electronic generation and the factors that affect the heating & cooling load such as the daily radiation, sun shading ratio, heating & cooling load, daylight luminance and glare distributions in the building are simulated.
In this study, the solar thermal and geo-source heat pump(GSHP) hybrid system for heating and cooling of Zero Energy Solar House(ZESH) was analyzed by experiment. The GSHP in this hybrid system works like as aback-up device for solar thermal system. This hybrid system was designed and installed for Zero Energy Solar House (KIER ZeSH) in Korea Institute of Energy Research. The purpose of this study is to find out that this system is optimized and operated normally for the heating load of ZeSH. The analysis was conducted as followings ; - the thermal performance of facade integrated solar collector - the on/off characteristics of solar system and GSHP - the contribution of solar thermal system. - the performance of solar thermal and ground source heat pump system respectively. - the meet of thermal load (space and water heating load). This experimental study could be useful for the optimization of this system as well as its application in house. This hybrid system could be commercialized for the green home if it is developed to a package type.
One of the most serious problems in Korean sericulture farms is to improve the adiabatic conditions for the simple silkworm rearing houses which has been widely adapted since early 1980'. Thus, this study is aimed to solve the problems by selecting the thermal screen material and by finding the method of its instalation. For the study, 4 kinds of materials which are (1) TE005,(2) NW60, (3) NW300 and (4) AL110 are selected and 4 different types of methods which are surrounding boundary of rearing bed(type A), surrounding inside of wall and ceiling (type B), installing on inside of wal ony (type C) and installing on ceiling Inly (type D) are installed. Decision criteria of the best combination of screen material and installation methods is made by calculating the heating load coefficients and by testing the application at the simple silkworm rearing houses. The obtained results are summarized as follows ; 1. The effect of thermal screen on reducing the thermal energy is remarkable. It saves energy more 50% than unscreened simple silkworm rearing houses. 2. From a stand point of a good screed material on thermal energy reduction, the NW300, AL110 and PE005 are recommanded materials. However, NW60 and PE005 are regarded as desirable materials from the practical point view. 3. Also, the effect on thermal energy reduction is largely affected by the method of thermal screen installation. The surrounding boundary of the silkworm rearing bed(type A) is the most desirable method to reduce the energy, which saves 56.6% of it. 4. In the practical application, NW60 and type A is considered to be the best combination of material and installation method. By this combination, the level of maximum heating load can be reduced at the rate of 43% for spring season and 40% for autumn season. 5. Another heating method, comparted heating, can be recommended to save the energy.

Since the underquilt has an important role of supporting the human body in sleeping, it needs to sustain ample degrees of hardness, elasticity, humidity absorption, and warmth retention property and also to have the two ergonimical requirements : It should not be too soft to allow human bodies to sink in, and that it should be comfortable for humans to tum over in sleeping. This study aims to investigate the effect of the thermal insulation of the variation in weight applied to the underquilt. For this purpose, six items were selected as filling materials for the underquilt : cotton, wool, silk, down, polyester, cotton/ployester. Various weights were applied to each of the underquilts to survey the reduction tendency of its thermal insulation effect. The results are as follow : 1. The Thermal insulation effect of each underquilt decreased in an exponetial function as the weight on the underquilt was increased. 2. The thermal reduction curves according to the load weight insrease were shown to be constant in shape regardless of the weight increase. 3. At the weight of more than $25kg/m^2$ the degree of the thermal insulation effect of each underquilt was found to be in order of down>cotton>silk>polyester>wool>cotton/ployester. 4. The variation in load weight applied to each underquilt was shown to be in reverse correlation with the thermal insulation effect. An estimated regression formula can be made on the data.
Thermal aging test is performed to qualify the life time of equipment in thermally aged condition. Due to long life time more than 10 years like as in power plant, the equipment is subjected to the accelerated thermal aging condition which is able to shorten the long aging test period by increasing aging temperature. Normally, conservatism of thermal aging test causes to impose unbalanced and excessive thermal load on components of the equipment, and deformation and damage problems of the components. Additionally, temperature rise of each component through heat generation of the electric equipment leads to long-term problem of the test period. Multi-phase accelerating aging test is to perform thermal aging test in multiple aging conditions after dividing into groups with various components of equipment. The groups might be classified considering various factors such as activation energy, temperature rise, glass transition temperature and melting temperature. In this study, we verify that the multi-phase accelerating aging test method can reduce and equalize the thermal over load of the components and shorten aging test time.

In this study, the three type hybrid interrupters according to the arrangement of the thermal expansion chamber and the puffer cylinder(they are called 'serial type', 'parallel/exchanged type', and 'parallel/separated type' respectively in this work) were designed and manufactured. This paper presents the tested results of the thermal recovery characteristics on the interrupters using a simplified synthetic test facility. The 'serial type' hybrid interrupter which is to obtain more easily the pressure rise for the thermal recovery compared with the others has the best capability in the thermal recovery characteristics. In order to investigate the stress on the operating mechanism, the distortion of the stroke wave in on-load test was examined to the stroke curve in no-load test. The biggest distortion was occurred in the 'parallel/exchanged type' hybrid interrupter. Finally, the small interruption capability on the three type interrupters was estimated by a theoretical form and the 'parallel/separated type' hybrid interrupter has the advantage of the others in the view of structure.

Liquefied gas vaporizer is a machine to vaporize liquefied gas such as liquid nitrogen($LN_{2}$), liquefied natural gas(LNG), liquid oxygen($LO_{2}$) etc. For the air type vaporizer, the frozen dew is created by temperature drop (below 273 K) on vaporizer surface. The layer of ice make a contractions on vaporizer. The structure analysis on the heat transfer was studied to see the effect of geometric parameters of the vaporizer, which are length 1000 mm of various type vaporizer. Structure analysis result such as temperature variation, thermal stress and thermal strain have high efficiency of heat emission as increase of thermal conductivity. As the result, Frist, With-fin model shows high temperature distribution better than without-fin on the temperature analysis. Second, Without-fin model shows double contractions better then with-fin model under the super low temperature load on the thermal strain analysis. Third, Vaporizer fin can be apply not only heat exchange but also a stiffener of structure. Finally, we confirm that All model vaporizer can be stand for sudden load change because of compressive yield stress shows within 280 MPa on thermal stress analysis.

The aim of this paper is to investigate the application of solar energy in reducing cabin thermal load. When a vehicle is parked under the sun in summer, the interior temperature can reach up to $70^{\circ}C$ depending on the solar intensity. Solar power, one of the green energies, is used in automobile air conditioning systems, in order to operate the blower. The power supply of a blower's voltage has been used in a solar sunroof experiment. At the climate wind tunnel, cabin temperature changes were conducted with various operating modes of an air handling system and the preventilation parking conditions of several vehicles, outdoors, was also examined. The test results of the solar sunroof, 39.3W power and 14.1% efficiency were obtained. The thermal load behavior was analysed with the air handling system operating mode differently according to the cabin temperature. By simply operating the blower, average cabin temperature decreased between $5^{\circ}C{\sim}10^{\circ}C$ in those vehicles parked outdoors in summer. This reveals that cabin thermal comfort can be improved without consuming the vehicle's extra energy, and that the performance of the air-conditioning system is better than those currently found in vehicles. Moreover, fuel economy will be increased as a result of the reduction in the use of the air-conditioning system, and many other human advantages will be gained. Such advantages include minimized VOCs and a healthy cabin environment.

This study using ABAQUS investigates the nonlinear vibration responses when thermal and random acoustic loads are applied simultaneously to the stiffened composite panels. The nonlinear vibration analyses are performed with changing the number of stiffeners, and layup condition of the skin panel. The panel and stiffeners both are modeled using shell elements. Thermal load (ΔT) is assumed to have the temperature gradient through the thickness direction of the stiffened composite panel. The random acoustic load is represented as stationary white-Gaussian random pressure with zero mean and uniform magnitude over the panels. The thermal postbuckling analysis is conducted using RIKS method, and the nonlinear dynamic analysis is performed using Hilber-HughesTaylor time integration method. When ΔT = 25.18 ℃ and SPL = 105 dB are applied to the stiffened composite panel, the effect of the number of stiffener is investigated, and the snap-through responses are observed for composite panels without stiffeners and with 1 and 3 stiffeners. For investigation of the effect of layup condition of the skin panel, when ΔT = 38.53 ℃ and SPL = 110 dB are applied to the stiffened composite panel, the snap-through responses are shown when the fiber angle of the skin panel is 0°, 30°, and 60°.

Based on the increasing demand for a solution to reduce thermal load, extensive green roofs have great opportunity for application to existing roofs due to their light-weight and easy maintenance. The present study delivers data regarding thermal behavior and heat reduction potential in relation to vegetation coverage between green roof types. 1) In the hottest hour in a day, green roofs showed considerable potential to mitigate heat load in roof environments, which can be up to $10^{\circ}C$ difference. 2) Compared to conventional cement roofs, the extensive green roofs only have a slight potential to cool the air over green roofs. By statistical analysis of linear regression, green coverage has little to do with the reduction of air temperature; the cooling effect was proven only in nighttime. 3) Green roofs act as an insulating roof membrane, the inner substrate of green roofs remained cooler than cement roof surfaces in the daytime, but in the nighttime the green roofs generally were warmer than the cement roof surfaces. 4) The variable of vegetation coverage resulted in no significant difference in thermal behavior in the air, but had the greatest effect in keeping the substrate cool in the daytime. The high vegetation coverage also hindered the rapid cooling of the substrate in the nighttime, and therefore was warmer than other measured temperatures. In order to draw a clear conclusion to combat urban heat island effect with extensive green roofs, the experiment needs to be applied on a larger scale.
