This paper presents the thermal and electrical characteristics of ZnO arrester blocks under the AC voltages. The leakage currents of ZnO arrester blocks were measured as a function of the time. The temperature distributions of ZnO arrester blocks were observed by the thermal image infrared camera. The degradation and thermal runaway of ZnO arrester blocks were closely related to the temperature limit of ZnO arrester blocks which being decided heat generation and dissipation. The temperature and leakage current of ZnO arrester blocks were sensitively changed in a resistance of ZnO arrester blocks. As a result, the degradation and thermal runaway of ZnO arrester blocks depend on the temperature and leakage current of ZnO arrester blocks.

Epoxy nanocomposite was synthesized through the exfoliation of organoclay in an epoxy matrix, which was composed of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA), 4,4'-methylene dianiline (MDA) and malononitrile (MN). Organoclay was prepared by treating the montmorillonite with octadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (ODTMA). The exfoliation of the organoclay was estimated by wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) analysis. In order to measure the cure rate of DGEBA/MDA (30 phr)/MN (5 phr)/organoclay (3 phr), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis was performed at various heating rates, and the data were interpreted by Kissinger equation. Thermal degradation kinetics of the epoxy nanocomposite were studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and the data were introduced to the Ozawa equation. The activation energy for cure reaction was 45.8 kJ/mol, and the activation energy for thermal degradation was 143 kJ/mol.
"Always-on" small ventilators are likely to experience thermal decomposition of insulating material due to thermal, electrical, mechanical and environmental influences, and lose insulating properties by the process of oxidation and physiochemical reaction. This increases the risk of electrical fire because of layer short, short circuit, overload and Plastics are usually used to make ventilator and ventilator enclosures since they make less noise and are cheaper. Although more preferred than iron, plastic, a combustible material, has a higher risk of fire. In this study, several experiments were carried out to find out how RCD(Residual Current Protective Device) and Thermal fuses, which are electric motor protection devices, work and what needs to be done to reduce the risk of fire.

Polymer insulators are used widely in variable fields for high voltage insulation and separating people from high voltage charging parts for safety and also supporting overhead power line in electric railway. But it may be broken down by tracking path resulting from continuous surface discharge. This paper has investigated synthetically both the characteristics of electrical aging using precision CT(current transformer) and the thermal aging using thermography method. Electrical aging was analyzed for time-frequency region and thermal aging was illustrated by image processing method. This synthetic method may be an appropriate one to evaluate the surface degradation of polymer insulator.

The key to determining the lifetime of OLED device is how much brightness can be maintained. It can be said that there are internal and external causes for the degradation of OLED devices. The most important cause of internal degradation is bonding and degradation in the excited state due to the electrochemical instability of organic materials. The structure of OLED modeled in this paper consists of a cathode layer, electron injection layer (EIL), electron transport layer (ETL), light emission layer, hole transport layer (HTL), hole injection layer (HIL), and anode layer on a glass substrate from top to bottom. It was confirmed that the temperature generated in OLED was distributed around the maximum of 343.15 K centered on the emission layer. It can be seen that the heat distribution generated in the presented OLED structure has an asymmetrically high temperature distribution toward the cathode, which is believed to be because the sizes of the cathode and positive electrode are asymmetric. Therefore, when designing OLED, it is believed that designing the structures of the cathode and anode electrodes as symmetrically as possible can ensure uniform heat distribution, maintain uniform luminance of OLED, and extend the lifetime. The thermal distribution of OLED was analyzed using the finite element method according to Comsol 5.2.

In this study, in order to understand the degradation characteristics of oil-paper insulation for power transformers and OF cables, tan delta was measured using cable model specimens with long-term accelerated thermal and electrical aging. In addition, to find out the degradation level due to the accelerated aging, tensile strengths of aged papers were measured. As a result, tan ${\delta}$ showed the characteristics of slight decrease at the first stage and then increase with the aging time, which could be analyzed due to the evaporation of remaining moisture and the change of aging rate with time. Also, the trend of tensile strengths with aging temperature and time was appeared to be exponentially decreased and by use of these data equivalent calculated lifetimes and accelerated aging factors were derived for each aging temperatures. After then, tan ${\delta}$ was analyzed with the equivalent operating years. For all different aging temperatures, the aged data were very well fit to the equivalent operating years and it is shown that tan ${\delta}$ was increased with the decrease of tensile strength.

Spherical and dense BAM phosphor particles were prepared by spray pyrolysis. The key idea of dense BAM particles is to lead gelation in droplets, which was successfully achieved by using the aluminum polycation as the precursor solution for the spray pyrolysis. The BAM phosphor particles prepared by spraying the aluminum polycation solution have completely spherical shape and dense structure. When directly applied to make phosphor film on the glass by the screen-printing method, the prepared spherical BAM phosphor particles showed better packing density and surface morphology than that of commercial one, which has irregular shape and large particle size. It was also found that the thermal degradation in the photoluminescence intensity for dense and spherical BAM particles was less than that of commercial one.

The bonding characteristics of MLCCs (multi layer ceramic capacitor, C1608) lead-free solder (SAC305) joints were evaluated through thermal shock test ($-40^{\circ}C{\sim}125^{\circ}C$, total 1,800 cycle). After the test, IMCs( intermetallic compounds) growth and cracks were verified, also shear strengths were measured for degradation of solder joints. In addition, The thermal stress distributions at solder joints were analyzed to compare the solder joints changes before and after according to thermal shock test by FEA (finite elements analysis). We considered the effects of IMCs growth at solder joints. As results, the bonding characteristics degradation was occurred according to initial crack, crack propagations and thermal stress concentration at solder-IMCs interface, when the IMCs grown to solder inside.

In this paper, study on the properties of the thermal degradated epoxy resin which is used in indoor insulation apparatus is performed to investigate the problems of the decreasing insulation characteristics and crack in the indoor insulation apparatus. As a parameter of variation, SEM, contact angle, surface resistivity, relative dielectric constant and weight loss are measured. As the results of the above measurements, the contact angle and surface resistivity of the epoxy resin has increased to 200$^{\circ}C$ in but at the above 200$^{\circ}C$ the values have decreased. The relative dielectric constants the thermal treated samples have increased on with the temperature increase. We find the volatile components of the epoxy resin compound has disappeared during thermal degradation by SEM. The insulation properties of the epoxy resin have increased by the 200$^{\circ}C$ but decreased in the above 200$^{\circ}C$.

The mica/epoxy composite used in generator(rated 22 kV and 500 MW) stator windings was aged at 180$\^{C}$ for up to 1000 hours in air and hydrogen. The degradation mechanism was investigated through the defect of evolution and microstructural analysis by performing SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope). As the thermal aging time increases, the number of voids per unit volume increases at the mica/epoxy interface of generator stator windings. The aged specimens in hydrogen showed retarded generation and growth of voids. Accelerated aging tests were conducted using the combination of thermal and electrical aging in air and hydrogen. The aging was carried out at a combined stress such as thermal aging at 110$\^{C}$, electrical aging at 5.5 kV/mm and frequencies 420 Hz in air, and electrical aging at 5.5 kV/mm and frequencies 420 Hz in hydrogen (pressure 4 kg/㎠). Thermal and electrical aging generates large voids at the mica/epoxy interface in air. Electrical aging in hydrogen also generates small voids, delaminations and cracks in mica tapes.
