  • 액체로켓엔진 연소기에 적용된 대기 플라즈마 코팅 및 전해/무전해 도금 코팅의 열차폐 효율과 내구성 평가를 수행하였다. 연소시험 결과 대기 플라즈마 방식의 $ZrO_2$, NiCrAlY 코팅은 로켓엔진 연소기의 초음속 유동영역에서 코팅이 표면에서 박리되는 현상이 간헐적으로 발생하였으며 따라서 이러한 문제를 극복할 수 있는 대체 코팅 방식이 요구되었다. 시험 결과 열차폐 효율 및 내구성 관점에서 대기 플라즈마 방식의 $ZrO_2$, NiCrAlY 코팅의 대안으로 무전해/전해 방식을 사용한 니켈-크롬 코팅을 사용할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • In present work, $La_{0.8}Ca_{0.2}CrO_3$ (LCC) ceramic interconnect layer for SOFC was prepared by using thermal plasma spray coating process. The LCC powders were synthesized by Pechini method and calcined at the temperature of $1000^{\circ}C$. The prepared LCC powder was characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), particle counter, BET analysis, respectively. In addition, basic and essential properties of LCC layer coated by thermal plasma spray coating process such as the morphology of surface and cross section for coated layer, gas leak rate, and electrical conductivity were analyzed and discussed. Based on these experimental results, it can be concluded that the LCC layer coated by thermal plasma spray coating process can be suitable as a ceramic interconnect of SOFC operated at $800^{\circ}C$.

Inconel 625 용사코팅된 절탄기 핀튜브의 전기화학적 내식성 분석 (Analysis of Electrochemical Corrosion Resistance of Inconel 625 Thermal Spray Coated Fin Tube of Economizer)

  • 본 연구는 절탄기 튜브의 저온부식 손상을 방지하기 위해 Inconel 625 용사재료를 활용하여 아크 열용사 코팅기술 적용 후 실링처리를 실시하였다. 용사코팅(TSC) 층의 내식성 분석을 위해 0.5 wt% 황산 수용액에서 다양한 전기화학적 실험을 진행하였다. 양극분극 실험 후에는 주사전자현미경과 EDS 성분분석을 통해 부식 손상 정도를 파악하였다. 자연전위 계측 시 TSC+실링처리(TSC+Sealing)의 안정적인 전위 형성을 통해 실링처리 효과를 확인하였다. 양극분극 실험 결과 TSC와 TSC+Sealing에서 부동태 영역이 확인되었으며, 부식 손상 역시 관찰되지 않아 내식성이 개선되었다. 더불어 타펠분석에 의해 산출된 부식전위와 부식전류밀도 분석 결과 TSC+Sealing의 내식성이 가장 우수하게 나타났다.

  • Diesel engine which has high thermal efficiency is one of the major movers. Recently, as people pay attention to the environmental pollution, the emission of Diesel engine becomes an important problem. So it is needed to understand the characteristics of diesel fuel spray injected into a combustion chamber to reduce the emission. The factors which control the diesel fuel spray are the injection pressure, the nozzle diameter, the impinging angle and the variation of an ambient pressure and temperature. In this paper, the experiments were conducted in the free spray and the impinging spray with various ambient temperatures(273K, 373K, 573K). And the behaviors of the diesel fuel spray, such as penetration, spray angle and axial distance in the free spray and axial distance and spray thickness in the impinging spray were studied.

  • Thermal/cold spray deposition were used for additive manufacture of oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) steel layers. Mechanically alloyed F/M ODS steel powders (Fe(bal.)-10Cr-1Mo-0.25Ti-0.35Y2O3 in wt.%) were sprayed by a high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) and cold spray methods. HVOF, as a thermal method, was used for manufacturing a 1 mm-thick ODS steel layer with a ~95% density. The source to objective distance (SOD) and feeding rate were controlled to achieve sound manufacturing. Y2Ti2O7 nano-particles were preserved in the HVOF sprayed layer; however, unexpected Cr2O3 phases were frequently observed at the boundary area of the powders. A cold spray was used for manufacturing the Cr2O3-free layer and showed great feasibility. The density and yield of the cold spray were roughly 80% and 45%, respectively. The softening of ODS powders before the cold spray was conducted using a tube furnace of up to 1200℃. Microstructural characteristics of the cold sprayed layer were investigated by electron back-scattered diffraction (EBSD), the uniformity of deformation amount inside powders was observed.

  • In order to comply with demand for high efficient gas turbines operating at higher temperatures, considerable amounts of research efforts have been performed with searching for the next-generation thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) with respect to coating materials as well as processing methods. In this study, thermal barrier coatings in the $(La_{1-x}Gd_x)_2Zr_2O_7$ system, which is one of the most versatile materials replacing yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ), are fabricated by suspension plasma spray with suspension made of synthesized powders via solidstate reaction. Dense, $100{\sim}400{\mu}m$ thick coatings of fluorite-phase zirconate with moderate amount of segmented microstructures are obtained by using suspension plasma spray. Phase formation and thermal diffusivity are characterized with coating compositions. The feasibility of $(La_{1-x}Gd_x)_2Zr_2O_7$ coatings for TBC applications is also discussed.

광촉매용 나노 TiO2 용사코팅층 특성 (Characterization of Thermal Spray Coating Layers of Nano Crystalline TiO2 for Photocatalyst)

  • Commercial nano crystalline $TiO_2$ powders were used to characterize photocatalyst, using thermal spray coating technique. The microstructure of coating layers were examined by SEM, FE-SEM and TEM. Also the cross sectional areas of TiO$_2$ coating layers were observed by SEM. The phases were analyzed by X-ray diffraction methed. Surface roughness and hardness were measured. It was found that phase transformation from anatase to rutile occurred, and the melted splats are all rutile, and unmeted nano particles were anatase. These unmelted anatase phase may enhance te play a role of photocatalyst.

  • Tribologcal property of the ceramics used in severe condition was investigated and both $Al_2O_3$ ball and Al/SiC composite made by thermal spray process[TSP] were used as a specimen in this study. Four kinds of material couple in ball and disk specimens were tested in the dry condition by using ball-on-disk type tribo-tester. Friction coefficient, surface roughness, wear rate, and photograph of the worn surface were investigated. Generally, High SiC contents[$40{\sim}50%$] specimens showed very low friction coefficient below 0.05 and little wear rate in dry condition. And also, low SiC contents[0%] specimens showed a moderate wear rate and high coefficient of friction at the same condition.

  • We report on the effects of mixing of powders with various particle sizes on fracture toughness and wear resistance of thermally sprayed WC-10Co-4Cr coating layers fabricated by HVOF (high-velocity oxygen fuel) process. The size and the mixing ratio of powders were changed in order to get high fracture toughness and wear resistance. The mixing of small amount of coarse powders with fine powders resulted in the highest fracture toughness and wear resistance due to the lowest porosity in coating layers.
