발전용 미분탄 보일러의 연소 상태 감시를 위한 화염 영상 처리 시스템 (Flame Image Processing System for Combustion Condition Monitoring of Pulverized Coal Firing Boilers in Thermal Power Plant)

  • The flame image processing and analysis system has been investigated for the optimal pulverized coal firing of thermal power plant, especially for lower nitrogen oxide generation and more safe operation. We aimed at gaining the relationship between burner flame image information and emissions of nitrogen oxide and unburned carbon in furnace utilizing the flame image processing methods, by which we quantitatively determine the condition of combustion on the individual humors. Its feasibility test was undertaken with a pilot furnace for coal firing, through which the system was observed to be effective for the monitoring of the combustion condition of pulverized coal firing boilers.

  • 열화상 장비는 빛이 없는 암흑 상태에서도 물체에서 발산하는 적외선을 탐지하여 이를 영상으로 제공하는 장비이다. 이러한 장점으로 기존 활용되던 군사 분야와 더불어 자동차 및 감시시스템 등 다양한 민수 분야로 활용분야가 넓어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 상용 이미지 처리 프로세서를 이용한 열화상 이미지 처리 모듈을 제안한다. 제안한 모듈은 기존 FPGA 기반 열화상 이미지 모듈대비 약 10~20%의 성능향상을 보이며, 대기모드를 포함하면 최대 50%까지 성능향상을 보인다. 그리고 시스템 모듈화를 통한 높은 확장성을 보장한다. 뿐만 아니라 제안한 모듈은 기존의 FPGA 기반 모듈의 단점인 낮은 확장성과 재활용성을 보완함으로써 개발 기간 및 비용 단축, 다양한 응용이 가능하다. 따라서, 이러한 장점으로 다양한 고객의 요구사항 만족, 제품 설계 및 개발 일정 단축 등 다양한 이점을 얻을 것으로 기대한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 적외선 열 영상 카메라를 기반으로 한 스마트 화재 탐지 및 자동소화 시스템의 구현에 관한 것으로 스마트 화재감지 시스템 및 화재 발생 시 이를 초기에 진화 할 수 있는 자동소화 장치 인터페이스 플랫폼의 설계 및 구현에 관한 것이다. 시스템 개발의 주요 기능은 열 영상 카메라와 메가픽셀 카메라를 기반으로 하는 화재 탐지 영상 시스템 및 뷰어; 화재 발생 시 초기에 화재를 진화 할 수 있는 자동소화 장치시스템; 영상 시스템과 자동소화 장치 시스템을 연결해 주는 인터페이스 플랫폼이다.

  • A thermal imaging system is implemented for the measurement and the analysis of the thermal distribution of the target objects. The main part of the system is a thermal camera in which a focal plane array typed sensor is introduced. The sensor detects the mid-range infrared spectrum of target objects and then it outputs a generic video signal which should be processed to form a frame thermal image. Here, a digital signal processor(DSP) is applied for the high speed processing of the sensor signals. The DSP controls analog-to-digital converter, performs correction algorithms and outputs the frame thermal data to frame buffers. With the frame buffers can be generated a NTSC signal and transferred the frame data to personal computer(PC) for the analysis and a monitoring of the thermal scenes. By performing the signal processing functions in the DSP the overall system achieves a simple configuration. Several experimental results indicate the performance of the overall system.

  • Recently, the safety in vehicle also has become a hot topic as self-driving car is developed. In passive safety systems such as airbags and seat belts, the system is being changed into an active system that actively grasps the status and behavior of the passengers including the driver to mitigate the risk. Furthermore, it is expected that it will be possible to provide customized services such as seat deformation, air conditioning operation and D.W.D (Distraction While Driving) warning suitable for the passenger by using occupant information. In this paper, we propose robust vehicle occupant detection algorithm based on RGB-Depth-Thermal camera for obtaining the passengers information. The RGB-Depth-Thermal camera sensor system was configured to be robust against various environment. Also, one of the deep learning algorithms, OpenPose, was used for occupant detection. This algorithm is advantageous not only for RGB image but also for thermal image even using existing learned model. The algorithm will be supplemented to acquire high level information such as passenger attitude detection and face recognition mentioned in the introduction and provide customized active convenience service.

  • The flame image observation and analysis has been investigated for combustion monitoring and management of the pulverized coal firing for thermal power plant, especially for lower nitrogen oxide generation and safer operation. We aimed at obtaining the relationship between burner flame image information and emissions of nitrogen oxide and unburned carbon in furnace utilizing the flame image processing methods, by which we quantitatively determine the conditions of combustion on the individual homers. Its feasibility test was undertaken with Samchonpo thermal power plant #4 unit which has 24 burners, through which the system was observed to be effective for evaluating the combustion conditions and continuous monitoring to prevent future loss of ignition.

Deep-learning-based system-scale diagnosis of a nuclear power plant with multiple infrared cameras

  • Comprehensive condition monitoring of large industry systems such as nuclear power plants (NPPs) is essential for safety and maintenance. In this study, we developed novel system-scale diagnostic technology based on deep-learning and IR thermography that can efficiently and cost-effectively classify system conditions using compact Raspberry Pi and IR sensors. This diagnostic technology can identify the presence of an abnormality or accident in whole system, and when an accident occurs, the type of accident and the location of the abnormality can be identified in real-time. For technology development, the experiment for the thermal image measurement and performance validation of major components at each accident condition of NPPs was conducted using a thermal-hydraulic integral effect test facility with compact infrared sensor modules. These thermal images were used for training of deep-learning model, convolutional neural networks (CNN), which is effective for image processing. As a result, a proposed novel diagnostic was developed that can perform diagnosis of components, whole system and accident classification using thermal images. The optimal model was derived based on the modern CNN model and performed prompt and accurate condition monitoring of component and whole system diagnosis, and accident classification. This diagnostic technology is expected to be applied to comprehensive condition monitoring of nuclear power plants for safety.

  • Real-time thermal image is obtained by thermal imaging systems measuring radiant emittence according to law of Plank's blackbody radiation. The histogram of thermal image is not uniform. The signal bands of background and target are separated and grouped in narrow bands. In such a system, contrast enhancement indispensible to distinguish target from background. In this study, plateau histogram equalization using local histogram is proposed for contrast enhancement.

  • Symptoms of foot-and-mouth disease include fever and drooling a lot around the hoof, blisters in the mouth, poor appetite, blisters around the hoof, and blisters around the hoof. Research is underway on smart barns that remotely manage these symptoms through cameras. Visible light cameras can measure the condition of livestock such as blisters, but cannot measure body temperature. On the other hand, infrared thermal imaging cameras can measure body temperature, but it is difficult to measure the condition of livestock. In this paper, we propose an object detection system using deep learning-based livestock detection using visible and infrared thermal imaging composite camera modules for preemptive response
