The kinetics of thermal dissociation of superoxide dismutase (SOD) was studied in 0.05 M Tris-HCl buffer at pH 7.4 containing $10^{-4}\;M$ EDTA. The number of conformational locks and contact areas and amino acid residues of dimers of SOD were obtained by kinetic analysis and biochemical calculation. The cleavage bonds between dimers of SOD during thermal dissociation and type of interactions between specific amino acid residues were also simulated. Two identical contact areas between two subunits were identified. Cleavage of these contact areas resulted in dissociation of the subunits, with destruction of the active centers, and thus, lost of activity. It is suggested that the contact areas interact with active centers by conformational changes involving secondary structural elements.

Cellular foamed insulation such as polyurethane foam ages and degrades the thermal conductivity. Aging of foam is a result from the diffusion of gases, initially consisting of $CO_2$ but eventually replaced by air from the environment. The variation of the cell gas content with time is primarily influenced by the increase of thermal conductivity of the cellular foam. The weight of foam also changes as the gas diffuses and exchanges. In this study, a weight measurement method has been proposed to evaluate the effective diffusion coefficients of $CO_2$ and Air, $D_{CO2}=7.08504E-11$ and $D_{air}=4.86086E-12$, respectively and are compared with the gas analysis method.
Nuclear ship reactors have several features different from land-based PWR's. Especially, effects of ship motions on reactor thermal-hydraulics and good load following capability for abrupt load changes are essential characteristics of nuclear ship reactors. This study modified the RETRAN-03 to analyze the thermal-hydraulic transients under three-dimensional ship motions, named RETRAN-03/MOV in order to apply to future marine reactors. First Japanese nuclear ship MUTSU reactor have been analyzed under various ship motions to verify this code. Calculations have been peformed under rolling, heaving and stationary inclination conditions during normal operation. Also, the natural circulation has been analyzed, which can provide the decay heat removal to ensure the passive safety of marine reactors. As results, typical thermal-hydraulic characteristics of marine reactors such as flow rate oscillations and S/G water level oscillations have been successfully simulated at various conditions.
We present the results of one-dimensional numerical simulations of SNR evolution in the inhomogeneous medium considering the effects of the evaporation of the cloud and the thermal conduction. We have included the effects of changing evaporation rate as a function of cloud size and the ambient temperature so that the clouds could be evaporated completely before they reach the center of the SNR. The heat conduction markedly changes the density distribution in the remnant interior. To explain the observed morphologies of the centrally peaked X-ray SNRs(for example W44), the maximal thermal conduction is required. However, this is unlikely due to the magnetic field and the turbulent motion. The effects of the evaporation of the cloud and the thermal conduction described here may explain the class of remnants observed to have centrally peaked X-ray emmision.

The finite element method is employed in conjunction with micromechanical modelling in order to assess the performance of ceramic thermal barrier coatings applied to structural components. The study comprises the conditions of the deposition of the coating by plasma spraying as well as the thermal cycling of the coated component, and it addresses particularly turbine blades. They are exposed to high temperature changes strongly influencing the behaviour of the core material and inducing damage in the ceramic material by intense straining. A concept of failure analysis is discussed starting from distributed microcracking in the ceramic material, progressing to the formation of macroscopic crack patterns and examining their potential for propagation across the coating. The theory is in good agreement with experimental observations, and may therefore be utilized in proposing improvements for a delayed initiation of failure, thus increasing the lifetime of components with ceramic thermal barrier coatings.

The purpose of this study was to examine theory about indoor thermal comfort-environment as well as to determine thermal sensation and physiological responses for men in summer indoor environment, under various air temperature and relative humidity, with male university students. Subjective Evaluation, Heart Rate(Electrocardiogram), Electroencephalogram(EEG) were examined. We found that comfort of people was achieved at SE $T^{*}$ 24.7$^{\circ}C$, -0.82<PMV<0.93, subject's clothing(0.41c1o)and the difference of skin temperature was found at the calf area as air temperature changes. At low SE $T^{*}$, heart rate was decreased and at high SE $T^{*}$, heart rate was increased but there was no change EEG(keeping $\alpha$-wave).wave).
Induction heating is a process that is accompanied with magnetic and thermal situation. This paper presents a simulation of a magneto-thermal coupled problem of an induction heating process for moving inductor coil. In the magnetic and thermal analyses, temperature-dependent magnetic and thermal material properties were considered. As the inductor coil moves in the process, solution domains corresponding to inductor changes into those of the air, and the solution domains of air change into those of the inductor. For these reasons, modeling of induction heating process is very difficult with general purpose commercial programs. In this paper, induction heating process for moving coil was simulated with the concept of traveling the position of the heating planes. Finite element program was developed and finite element results were compared with the experimental results.

In hot strip rolling, the thickness of strip cannot be retained uniform by several irregular parameters. It has been shown that the load distribution can affect only a small fraction of the excess strip crown, whereas the thermal effects of working roll are the major reason on large changes in the strip center crown during hot rolling. In this study, the temperature distribution of working roll is represented by fourier series expansion. The analytical solution of the resulting thermo-elasticity problem is obtained by love's strain function. The results which are compared with those of the finite element method show good agreements.
Heat transfer analysis and thermal stress analysis for the concrete bridge was performed in order to investigate the damage of the concrete bridge by the fire of the vehicle. Changes in material properties, such as thermal conductivity, specific heat, density, elasticity, caused by temperature rise were considered. Heat transfer analysis and thermal stress analysis were performed according to the various location of the fire by ABAQUS. From the comparison of the numerical results, the degree of structural damage for the concrete bridge was investigated and considerations for the design of a concrete bridge against fire were identified.
A method to measure heating value of natural gas using sound velocity and thermal conductivity is proposed to solve the low heating value issues of imported natural gas in South Korea. Natural gas generally consists of methane, butane, ethane, and inert gases. Heating value changes as the gas material properties, such as density, wobbe index, etc., varies. It is highly important to measure heating values of natural gases accurately because measuring the heating value depends on the given natural gases' components. Therefore, sound velocity and thermal conductivity is measured to estimate indirectly heating value of Natural gas with their changed components.
