Design of composite channel section beam for optimal dimensions (최적 단면 치수를 가지는 복합재료 U-Beam의 설계)

  • A problem formulation and solution for design optimization of laminated composite channel section beam is presented in this study. The objective of this study is the determination of optimum section dimensions of composite laminated channel section beam which has equivalent flexural rigidities to flexural rigidities of steel channel section beam. The analytical model is based on the laminate theory and accounts for the material coupling for arbitrary laminate stacking sequence configuration. The model is used to determine the optimal section dimensions of composite channel section beam. The web height, flange width and thickness of the beam are treated as design variables. The solutions described are found using a global search algorithm, Genetic Algorithms (GA).

  • In this paper, the pneumatic service robot with a hybrid type is developed. A pneumatic has the advantage of good compliance, high payload-to-weight and payload-to-volume ratios, high speed and force capabilities. Using pneumatic actuators which have low stiffness, the service robot can guarantee safety. By suggesting a new serial-parallel hybrid type for the service robot which separates into positioning motion and orienting motion, we can achieve large workspace and high strength-to-moving-weight ratio at the same time. A sliding mode controller can be designed for tracking the desired output using the Lyapunov stability theory and structural properties of pneumatic servo systems. Through many experiments of circular trajectory, the pneumatic service robot is evaluated and verified.

  • By taking a bottom-up "library in the life of the user" perspective rather than a top-down "user in the life of the library" perspective, this paper uses anecdotal evidence from the past and near present to examine the multiple roles the U.S. public library plays and has played as public space in the everyday lives of its patrons. By harnessing "public sphere" theory discussed in Jurgen Habermas's THE STRUCTURAL TRANSFORMATION OF THE PUBLIC SPHERE (1989) and by the examining the rich literatures on civic life and institutions that have evolved from it, the author argues that Library and Information Studies discourse has to expand its scope to include research and analysis of "library as place" from a user's perspective if it hopes to develop a deeper understanding of what the public library does for means to members of the communities in which they reside.

  • Since 1970's in Germany and U.S.A., the studies on increasing the bearing capacity of railway roadbed using geogeid have been conducted for the repair, reinforcement, and extention of railways constructed on soft soils. In this study, the railway roadbed system reinforced with geogrids has been analyzed and investigated using finite element method and results of the previous studies were conducted in Korea and other nations. And the method for estimating the railway roadbed thickness was developed based on the equivalent method using the multi-layer theory and the deformation modulus Ev.

  • In this paper, the vibration of a rotating shaft with a thin rigid disk is considered. It is assumed that the shaft has uniform, circular cross-section. Based on the Timoshenko-beam theory, the transverse displacements and slops in two lateral directions, the axial displacement, and the torsional deformation are considered. A spectral element model is developed by using the variation method for the vibration analysis of the rotating shaft with a thin rigid disk, which is modeled by two shaft elements and a thin rigid disk element. The result of vibration analysis by finite element method is compared to the result of this research.

  • This paper reviews the fast reactor physics and computational methods. The basic reactor physics specific to fast spectrum reactors are briefly reviewed, focused on fissile material breeding and actinide burning. Design implications and reactivity feedback characteristics are compared between breeder and burner reactors. Some discussions are given to the distinct nuclear characteristics of fast reactors that make the assumptions employed in traditional LWR analysis methods not applicable. Reactor physics analysis codes used for the modeling of fast reactor designs in the U.S. are reviewed. This review covers cross-section generation capabilities, whole-core deterministic (diffusion and transport) and Monte Carlo calculation tools, depletion and fuel cycle analysis codes, perturbation theory codes for reactivity coefficient calculation and cross section sensitivity analysis, and uncertainty analysis codes.

  • The bending rigidity of yarn is derived in terms of physicil and mechanical characteristics of its constituent fibers and yarns structural parametrs. Theoretical analysis shows that the twist correcti on factor for the bending rigidity of yarn decreases with increase of the ratio of Young's m()dulus to the shear modulus of the constituent fibers. Also, the bending rigidity of yarn decreases as the surface helix angle of yarn increases.

  • This paper introduces a structural damage identification method to identify 4he multiple directional damages generated within a cylindrical shell by using the measured frequency response function (FRF). The equations of motion for a damaged cylindrical shell are derived. by using a theory of continuum damage mechanics in which a small material volume containing a directional damage is represented by the effective orthotropic elastic stiffness. In contrast with most existing vibration-based structural damage identification methods which require the modal Parameters measured in both intact and damaged states, the present method requires only the FRF-data measured at damaged state. Numerically simulated damage identification tests are conducted to verify the feasibility of the Proposed structural damage identification method.

  • The transport a administration in Korea is meeting demands of developing international multimodal transport system. In the past, as Korea transport policy has been emphasizing on the passenger traffic, the physical distribution sector is far behind international trend. Regarding the urging necessities of reducting costs in transport in order to upgrade the competitive edge of industries, Korea has to develop the most efficient transport system so called international multimodal transport system. The existing transport system is inefficient because each transport mode is separate, so this system is aiming at reducing cost and time and developing freight transport.   • Due to the increasing amount of electronic control system in a vehicle, the automotive software is increasingly sophisticated and complicated. Therefore it may be faced a time critical problem caused by its complexity. In order to solve such problems, the automotive electronic system can use a real-time scheduling mechanism based on predictability. We first consider the standard specification of the AUTOSAR OS and uC/OS-II such as its scheduling theory with time determinism. In this paper, we propose the scheduling algorithm to be conformable to a conformance class of OSEK/VDX specification. Algorithm analysis shows that our scheduling algorithm outperforms an existing Trampoline OS by intuition.
