The development of a textile design targeting Chinese consumers from Generation MZ (중국 MZ세대 소비자를 겨냥한 텍스타일 디자인 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In recent years, young Chinese consumers have become more favorably inclined toward products relating to traditional culture. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a textile design that incorporates traditional Chinese patterns and cultural symbolism that will appeal to consumers from the MZ generation (millennials and Generation Z). Through a literature search for traditional Chinese patterns and symbols regarded as auspicious, our design concept and motives were established. We selected peony, lotus, and frog motifs as representative of a "wealth and eternal prosperity" design theme. In textile design work 1, we used hand drawing and watercolor techniques, color transformation with Adobe Photoshop, and colorway and end-use 3D simulation with TexPro. The 3D simulation work suggests that this textile pattern is suitable for women's outerwear, mufflers, and tote bags. Textile design work 2 conveyed the 'wealth and eternal prosperity' design theme and had a graceful mood that embodied the nobility of the lotus flower whilst also encompassing the symbolism of money and status. The end design is a modern reinterpretation of traditional Chinese patterns and motifs. As such, it is hoped that it will satisfy the needs of young consumers for cultural values yet offer a unique new aesthetic distinct from existing textile designs. These qualities can be expected to enhance the competitive market value of textiles bearing this design.

  • This paper describes the geographical and cultural characteristics of Han river and presents a schematic design of outdoor lighting for Han river bridges. Basic design concept for Han river and detail theme for each bridge was developed. With lighting simulation program, lamp, color, and image of bridge in Han river modeled and simulated. Lighting visualizations of the three major bridges were shown and detail design concept for such bridges were introduced.

  • The goal of this paper was to analyze the skylight type and there architectural aesthetic effects in museum. The results of this investigation was based on the study of the skylight applications of museums meaning concerning this theme. It could distinguish among dome, upper skylight, side skylight and totally opened skylight according to the viewpoint of the architectural aesthetics and the lighting. Secondly were above-mentioned skylight and the design of fenestration used as a design element in order to influence and modify space and form.

Concept and Expression Method of 'Fun' Presented in Fashion Design (패션디자인에서'재미'의 개념과 표현방식)

  • As a fresh trial using humorous items to escape from economic recession and uncertain state of mind regarding politics and society, fun is emerging as a keyword in design area. This study classified various use of fun reflected in modern fashion design according to the theme, and analyzed the mod of expression to identify formative characteristics. Through these processes, this study built conceptual structure of fun in fashion design. 412 fashion designs which represent fun were collected from 2001 $S/S{\sim}2005$ F/W collections. Data were analyzed and categorized. Results showed that the theme of fun in the modern fashion design could be classified into humor, kidult, irony, satire/parody, storytelling, and play. The design elements mainly used were color silhouette, letter, object, and drawing, while the design principles were distortion/exaggeration, incongruity, and repetition. In addition, these expressions were related to the traditional humor theory: incongruity-resolution, superior, and relief theories. The fun in modern fashion design has such value as affirmation, warmness, entertainment, youth, contradiction, surprise, deviate, allusion, attack, and description, Finally, in regard to the subject, the fun provides active experience like play as well as passive acceptance.

  • User Experience (UX) and Experience Innovation have been emphasized in the process of New Product Development (NPD). However, previous works which were conducted within the theme of UX mostly focused on the fragmentary aspects of user's experience in a specific usage-context only. For this reason, it is always hard to deal with questions on how to define the abstract concept of UX and how to apply this important keyword in actually NPD process both for satisfying potential users and for setting a market strategy. To address this issue, we focused on the fact that UX has an aspect of composition like pattern and structure. It means that we can understand the context of UX with clarifying characteristics of relations between user and experiential objects. Also, we referred to two sub-concepts of Complexity, Density and Centrality, as representative characteristics of relations in usage-context. Based on this theoretical background, we attempted to find UX design principles and concepts for NPD from the actual example cases of products and services in the real market. From these whole study process, we expect that our findings could have implications for academic and practical areas within the theme of Human-Centered Innovation.

  • The core of character and concept in an exhibition space of contemporary museum is that the place for relics and materials changes into the place for spectators, the static exhibition place changes into the dynamic exhibition place, and the place for learning naturally during amusement. In other words, it could convey the conceptual exhibition object which is not the material object called a relic, it could be a place where is to investigate, participate, experience and enjoy with easily method to general public, and ordinary people are supposed to experience with integrative the world of intellectual, cultural and artistic which is inconcionsly rising a dimensiov. In order to response positively the change of these exhibition concept itself, exhibition system will be established through the analysis of realistic exhibition objects with the visulatization of theme or thought of an exhibitiov. In process of conveying image, the effective and concrete exhibition method and technique should be measured in order to realize the communication between spectators and exhibition objects. The purpose of this study is to find the methodology which is enable to establish the exhibition theme and presentation system through the selection and analysis of exhibition objects in major cases of a musem of ecience and engneering, to find the process model till the methodology applies to the space scheme, and to find finally the designed indicators which is applicable to the progress of exhibition desigv.

A Study on the Expression of Movement in Architectural Design in the first Machine Age (제1기계시대 건축디자인에서의 운동의 표현에 관한 연구)

  • The theme of modern architecture was various expression of dynamism and the flow of space. It was because that the space become the main theme of architecture since the late 19th century, and the space was changed from the 3rd dimension into the 4th dimensional space-time continuum. Though many avant-garde artists in the early 20th century did not understand the theory of relativity, they became conscious of the concept of space-time continuum, and tried to express the movement as the duration in time which Bergson defined. Many architects in the first machine age conceived the movement of architecture, and understand it as the dynamism of the mass and in the space. But especially, Sant'Elia and Hilberseimer expressed it as the flow of various force and vector In the metropolis as entire system. And Some architects conceived it as real movement of the building and expressed it as the rotary motion of building, movable partition and furniture, mobile prefabricated building. This study analyzed the expression of movement in architecture in the first machine age.

Attempt of Mechanical Clock Design and Making as PBL Subject

  • The mechanical clock was designed and produced by students as a trial theme of PBL class. The limit of making time is three weeks and main material is limited to paper. Only a basic mechanism drawing is given. As the principle of mechanical clock is not complex and does not need the special knowledge of mechanical engineering, even lower grade student seems to understand enough. This subject can train the skill of knowledge composition, creativity and the problem-solving ability. After execution,the validity and performance as the theme of PBL class was evaluated. As a result, the following findings were obtained. The paper made mechanical clock could be produced in three weeks. And, by additional improvements of the product, the enough strength and stable movement were achieved. Students can learn that many kinds of knowledge through actual experiences of design and making were required in manufacturing the real products. The proposed PBL style class is suitable as an introduction and training subject for lower grade student in department of engineering.

Clonorchis Sinensis Research Reported in Korea from 2001 to 2007 (간흡충 관련 국내 연구논문 분석)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the trend of research on clonorchis sinensis in Korea. Method: The study design was a literature analysis in which research studies with 'Clonorchis' in the title were collected from 2001 to 2007. A total of 115 research studies were analyzed based on the year of publication, study design, major or institute of researcher, study sample, and research theme. Results: 10-19% of the research studies were published each year from 2001 to 2007. Experimental study design was the most frequent at 54.8%. Medicine or parasitology as the major of researchers were 43.2% and 41.2% retrospectively, but no nursing studies were found. For study samples, 65.9% were cyst larvae and animals, followed by human beings (29.5%). In research theme, the structure and gene analysis of clonorchis sinensis was the most frequent (32.1%), followed by animal experimental studies (15.7%), epidemic studies of clonorchis sinensis prevalence and changes (13.0%), and methods of diagnosis of clonorchis sinensis and effectiveness (12.2%). Conclusion: Although positive rate of clonorchis sinensis is still high, intervention studies for managing clonorchis sinensis were not found. So, methodological research developing clonorchis sinensis management program and intervention study is needed for high risk groups in rural communities.

Characteristics of Boulevard-type Plaza Design - Focusing on Ansan Gwangduk Theme Plaza Design, Ansan City, Korea - (광로형 광장 설계의 특징과 의의 - 안산 광덕로 테마광장 설계를 중심으로 -)

  • The 2002 World Cup cheering in front of Seoul City Hall and Seoul Plaza design competition provided an opportunity for the discussion of a variety of discourses regarding our plaza culture. The Gwanghwamun Plaza constructed in 2009 also generated discussions for questions on the function of our plaza as a symbolic, humanistic and utilized place. The questions on whether we have created a plaza culture or what should be done for the design of our plaza are still being explored. The reason is that our plazas were constructed without social consensus regarding identity of our plaza while we are influenced by western plaza ideas. The principle of our plaza culture and shape is not yet discussed and determined. The emergence of discussion sparked by the Gwanghwamun Plaza and the Seoul Plaza can be seen as a positive phenomenon. If we can continue to build creative discourse, we will be able to establish our plaza cultures soon. In this context, the Ansan Gwangduk-ro theme plaza design can be a significant material to be discussed. The design competition for the plaza was held in 2009 and it is followed by the construction of the plaza in late 2010. Considering cultural and spatial issues on our plaza in mind, the project will be explained and the identity of the contemporary design will also be explored.
