The primary purpose of this study was to investigate how number sense performance of sixth graders was and what every character of five components of number sense possessed by sixth graders was. For the this purpose, Two kinds of studies were conducted : a descriptive study by pencil-and-paper tests(Basic Test, Number Sense Test) and a clinical study by interviews. The conclusions drawn from the results obtained in the this study were as follows : First, students were highly scored in Basic Test but not highly scored equally in Number Sense Test. Second, students hardly used the benchmarks and lacked consideration of the reasonableness about computation results. Interview results were that students' notion about the meaning, and the greater - than and less - than relations for fractions was weak and students tended to not use number sense but apply standard algorithm and compute numbers in the question without thinking.
There are always possibilities for conflicts among individuals, between individuals and groups, and among groups because of the complex and diverse nature of contemporary society. Some form of bodyguard is required to protect oneself from this constant possibility of conflicts and thus the concept of security was developed to meet the needs of one's safety. Furthermore, the increase in the number of crime and intellectual crimes now threatens not only the people with power, fortune, reputation but also all citizens. Meeting the need for safety became a challenging task for the world and a security-related industry as well as security-related careers were born. Therefore, schools and security institutions must provide education and training to nurture morality and stable psychological condition for their students/trainees. In order to offer them such working and educational environments, utilizing the sixth-sense the five senses is recommended and it is called security psychology training. This study identifies the psychology, the five senses, and the sixth sense of bodyguards while on duty and explores the training and education contents to utilize the sixth sense.

The study aims to extract the framework of sub-factors of spatial sense, to develop test instruments based on the framework to investigate the actual spatial sense ability of fourth to sixth graders in elementary school and to analyze the results. According to the framework of sub-factors of spatial sense of the study, spatial sense has two factors of spatial visualization and spatial orientation. Spatial visualization is divided into mental rotation, mental transformation and figure-ground perception while spatial orientation is categorized into direction sense, distance sense, and location sense. Based on the framework, the test instrument for spatial sense ability was developed and the test was conducted to 430 fourth to sixth students in five elementary schools in capital areas. The following conclusions were drawn from the results obtained in the study. Firstly, the higher school year gets, the more spatial sense grows. However, spatial visualization is developed much more than spatial orientation and their order is reversed with higher graders. Secondly, the most insufficient abilities among fourth to sixth elementary school students' spatial sense were mental transformation of spatial visualization and location sense of spatial orientation. Thirdly, the reasons of differences in sub-factors of spatial sense and graders seem to be from effects of students' learning experiences of spatial sense of mathematics curriculum and the complexities of test items.
While many studies on early algebra have been conducted, there have been only a few studies on the operation sense as the fundamental element of algebraic thinking, especially the fraction operation sense. This study explored the dimensions of fraction operation sense and then investigated students' fraction operation sense. A total of 183 of sixth graders were surveyed and 5 students who showed high operation sense were clinically interviewed in order to analyze their algebraic thinking in detail. The results showed that students had a tendency to use direct calculation or employ inappropriate operation sense rather than to use the structure of operation or the relation between operations on the basis of algebraic thinking. This study implies that explicit instruction on early algebra is necessary from the elementary school years.
The purpose of this study is to analyze mediating effects of sense of community between Ego-identity and multicultural acceptance. Struatural analysis is performed with six - year panel survey data of elementary school 1st grade students and middle school 1st grade students from Korean child- Youth Panel survey. The subjects of six - year panel survey data are the sixth grade in the elementary school and High school seniors. The results are as follows. First of all, there are differences in Ego-identity, sense of community and multicultural acceptance between the sixth grade in the elementary school and high school seniors. Second, they are related. Third, regression analysis shows that Ego-identity and sense of community have an affect on multicultural acceptance. Fourth, partial mediating effect is suitable for whole youth and sixth grader and complect mediation effect is suitable for high school seniors. In early adolescents, Ego-identity plays a direct role in multicultural acceptance. But in late adolescents, sense of community plays a direct role in multicultural acceptance. Base on these results, for improving adolescents multicultural acceptance, It has suggested educational programs that helps to enhance Ego-identity and sense of community.
Despite the importance of number sense, computational skills have been emphasized in elementary mathematics curriculum. There is lack of research on number sense. Against this background, this study analyzed the way 137 sixth grade students coped with routine computation problems and with problems requiring number sense. Students performed better on the computation tasks than on the number sense tasks. With regard to the number sense tasks, many students had a tendency to implement direct computation rather than to use number sense appropriate to the given contexts. Students also had difficulties in making use of effective benchmarks or applying the knowledge of number and operation to various problem contexts. An implication is that students should explore multiple tasks requiring number sense as an integral part of their mathematics learning in order to develop number sense.
The purpose of this study was to analyze operation sense in detail with regard to division of fraction. For this purpose, two sixth grade students who were good at calculation were clinically interviewed three times. The analysis was focused on (a) how the students would understand the multiple meanings and models of division of fraction, (b) how they would recognize the meaning of algorithm related to division of fraction, and (c) how they would employ the meanings and properties of operation in order to translate them into different modes of representation as well as to develop their own strategies. This paper includes several episodes which reveal students' qualitative difference in terms of various dimensions of operation sense. The need to develop operation sense is suggested specifically for upper grades of elementary school.

The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of a sense of classroom community and social presence on learning satisfaction in a cyber learning setting. The subjects in this study were 172 sixth graders in M elementary school in the city of D, who studied in a cyber setting at home. A survey was conducted to gather data, and multiple regression analysis were carried out to determine the influence of a sense of classroom community and social presence on learning satisfaction. As a result, it is found that a sense of classroom community and social presence had a significant correlation to learning satisfaction. A sense of classroom community turned out to affect learning satisfaction. A sense of classroom community are a major variable that should seriously be taken into account in an elementary cyber learning setting in order to boost the learning satisfaction of learners. In the future, the kinds of instructional design that could foster a sense of classroom community is required when cyber learning environments are prepared.
This study aimed to examine whether neglect influences sense of community and whether such a relationship is moderated by peer attachment. For this purpose, this study employed multi variate regression analyses using the sixth-panel data (2015) of fourth-grade elementary-school children from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey. Key findings were as follows: First, neglect was found to have negative impacts on sense of community. In addition, we found that peer attachment moderated the relationship between neglect and sense of community. This finding suggests that peer relationship and attachment protects some portion of negative impacts of neglect on sense of community. This study concludes with policy and practice implications to improve the well-being of adolescents.
This study had a purpose to present a comprehensive grasp of the variables that influence a sense of self-identity in children of multi-cultural families. The participants were 310 elementary school children from the fourth to sixth grades and who were currently enrolled in North Jeolla Province. The results were as follows. First, no significant difference was found for a sense of self-identity according to the children's gender. But a significant difference was found according to the nationality of the mothers. Second, the boys' self-identity was affected by mother's rejection of discipline/reprimand behaviors and the girls' self-identity was affected by school satisfaction. Last, children's selfidentity was affected by the mother's nationality(Japan, China, and Philippine).
