A Relative Study on Safe Factor by Different Analyses of Slope Stability (해석방법에 따른 사면 안전율 비교 연구)

  • This study performed slope stability analysis by changing analysis methods and shear strength with the slope stability analysis program. The conclusions of the study are as follows. 1) The safe factor of clayey soil applied with Bishop's simple method turned out to be similar to or slightly higher than those of other methods, for both dry and saturated conditions. 2) The safe factor of sandy soil applied with GLE method turned out to be slightly higher than those of other methods. But when applied with Bishop's simple method, it appeared to be slightly higher than those of other methods. 3) The safe factor of ordinary soil applied with GLE method showed the highest result. 4) Janbu method showed the lowest safe factor among all the methods for the above three types of soils.

An Improvement for Determining Response Modification Factor in Bridge Load Rating (응력보정계수 산정 방법 개선)

  • Bridge load rating calculations provide a basis for determining the safe load capacity of bridge. Load rating requires engineering judgement in determining a rating value that is applicable to maintaining the safe use of the bridge and arriving at posting and permit decisions. Load testing is an effective means in calculating the rating value of bridge. In Korea, load carrying capacity of bridge is modified by response modification factor that is determined from comparisons of measured values and analysis results. The response modification factor may be corrupted by vehicle location error that is defined as the gap of test vehicle location between load testing and analysis. In this study, the effects of vehicle location error to structural response and response modification factor are investigated, and a new method for evaluating response modification factor is proposed. The random data analysis shows that the proposed method is less sensitive to vehicle location error than the present method.

Study on Safe Set and Maneuverability Envelope Protection during Arresting Landing

  • According to the characteristic of carrier-based aircraft, the method of solving safe set during arresting landing is discussed in this paper based on optimal control and invariant set theory. The safe sets of carrier aircraft are evaluated in different states on the characteristic of longitudinal augmented system by using the level set method. Then, the influence on the boundary of safe set under various factors is analyzed. At last, the maneuverability envelope protection is established based on the corresponding theory, and the validity of the system is verified through simulation. The results demonstrate preliminarily that: compared with mass and thrust, the elevator is the greatest influence factor for the boundary of safe set; the dynamic trajectory of carrier-based aircraft can be located at the interior of safe set effectively with the maneuverability envelope protection.

  • In the fintech field, financial transactions with smart phones are actively conducted. User authentication technology is essential for safe financial transactions. PIN authentication through the existing security keypads is convenient to input but has weaknesses in security and others. The biometric authentication technique is secure, but there is a possibility of false positive and false negative authentication. To compensate for this, two-factor authentication is used. In this paper, we propose the 1.5-factor authentication that can increase convenience and security through PIN input with biometric authentication. It provides the stability of fingerprint authentication and convenience of two or three PIN inputs, and this makes safe financial transaction possible. Since biometric authentication is performed at the same time when entering PIN, while security is required by applying fingerprint authentication to the area touched while entering PIN. The User authentication is performed while ensuring convenience to input through additional PIN input in situations where high safety is required, and Safe financial transactions are possible.

  • Purpose: Safety of humans is an important factor that affects health overall, and injuries are one of the major public-health problems in the world. The purposes of this study were to describe the International safe Community movement which contributes to the injury prevention and safety promotion all over the world, and to identify out the application and developmental strategies for Korea. Methods: A review was done of previous research, reviews, and reports on the history, concepts, basic principles, and recommendations for actions of the Safe Community. Results: For this study, the application strategies of the International Safe Community movement in Korea were examined to deduce the strengths of the safe Community program. Community-based injury prevention work according to the International Safe Community model is a successful and cost-effective way of reducing injuries in the community. Conclusion: Through the International Safe Community program, communities are able to realize a healthy community and achieve improved quality of lives for the people, which is the ultimate objective of the Safe Community model. In addition, it will contribute to the economic vitalization and gain through energy and enhancement of productivity of people.

The Household's investment on risky and safe financial assets (가계의 위험자산과 안전자산 투자분석 -금융자산을 중심으로-)

  • While theories of portfolio selection have been developed very little is known about how individuals actually go about constructing their asset potfolios. This study investigates empirically the characteristics of household's assets and which factor associated with risky and safe asset amount. Data used in this study consisted of 2,164 households and the statistics employed to analyze the data are univariate procedure Logit analysis and OLS. The results of this study were as follows: Among 2,164 households 505 housholds(23.3%) had risky assets. Average risky asset amount is 8,351,500 won and average safe asset amount is 7,086,900 won. Region education and occupation of household head home ownership transfer and other income and total expenditure had significant effects on either and other income and total expenditure had significant effects on either household having risky asset or safe asset. Financial income transfer and other income and total expenditure had significantly p sitive relation with the risky asset amount. Whereas age and the occupation of household head the sense of economic wellbeing earned financial tranfer and other income and total expenditure had significantly positive relation with safe asset amount.

  • The main objective of this study is to find factors and typical characteristics on outbreak of musculoskeletal disorders in small sized companies which are located at eastern area in Kangwon-Do. Musculoskeletal disorders are becoming a serious problem in various industrial fields. Many researches have been focused on the analysis on outbreak of musculoskeletal disorders in order to reduce and prevent them. As a similar endeavor, this paper provides factor analysis on outbreak of musculoskeletal disorders. Questionnaire surveys regarding musculoskeletal disorders were conducted for the total number of 250 field workers. For the purpose of this study, seven independent variables(gender, age, career, housework, accident, trouble, and pain) are taken from questionnaires. The provided analysis result will be helpful as a starting point for root cause analysis and reduction of musculoskeletal disorders and also for establishment of safe work environments.

Factor Analysis and Intergroup Awareness Investigation of Workers' Safety in Logistic Center (물류센터 근로자의 안전인식에 대한 요인분석 및 집단간 인식 비교)

  • This study is to examine the workers' awareness of the safety in logistic centers. For that purpose, the exploratory factor analysis of workers' safety awareness in logistic centers was performed at first, and the 6 variables extracted from the factor analysis were then used to investigate the difference in intergroup awareness of the safety environment in the logistic centers. We administered a survey to 147 workers attending the logistic centers and collected data from them. The results of the study showed that the intergroup awareness of the safety environment turned out to be statistically different from each other in terms of working environment, safe behavior, work risk, safety knowledge and effort, risk justification and compromising attitudes. Experiences in industrial accidents influenced awareness of working environment, work risk and risk justification. The group who experienced accidents is more likely to feel risky and unsatisfied with working place, and their awareness toward risk justification was high as well. It was also observed that there exists awareness difference between manager group and worker group. The group who manages the working place showed more positive awareness of working environment, safe behavior, work risk, safety knowledge and effort, risk justification and compromising attitudes than the worker group. On the contrary, the worker group showed high recognition in risk of working place, and felt that they are willing to compromise on safety for increasing production. The scale of the logistic center produced negative influence on awareness of safety. The group in small logistic center showed the highest awareness in safety, whereas the group in large logistic center with more than 100 workers showed the highest awareness in risk. They are more likely to deviate from correct and safe work procedures due to over-familiarity with the job, as well. The findings suggest that there is a need for the safety management and education to change the workers' understanding and attitudes towards safety.

A comparative Study for dispersion model in evacuation plan by using MAS-based evacuation simulation (MAS 기반 피난시뮬레이션을 이용한 분산대피 비교 연구)

  • Smoke is one of the most critical factor when escaping from the fire since it reduces visibility and interrupts finding emergency exit lights. Therefore, it is recommended that an evacuation simulation program should incorporate the smoke factor. In addition, it is suggested that the program should include not only the unilateral damage by the smoke but also the detour evacuation by risk communication. In this study, MAS (Multi Agent System)-based simulation program which incorporates the reduced walking speed by smoke and adopts the dispersion evacuation logic during escaping from the fire. To make comparison, a commercial evacuation program, Pathfinder was used. It was found that the simulation results of MAS (Multi Agent System)-based program is better than Pathfinder in terms of safe evacuation. It means that evacuation simulation need a additional evaluation categories that include not only quick evacuation time but also safe evacuee number.
