Facilitated Transport of Oxygen in Copolymer Membranes of Styrene and 4-Vinylpyridine Containing Cobalt Schist Base Carrier : Effect of Membrane Thickness and Carrier Concentration

  • The valiclity of the simple mathematical model for facilitated transport in a solid state membrane developed previously has been examined againsts the carrier concentration and membrane thick-ness. Membranes are prepared with copolymer of styrene and 4-vinylpyridine as a matrix and Co(salen) as a carrier. 4-Vinylpyridine is incorporated to provide the coordination site for Co(salen) carrier. Oxygen permeability through the facilitated transport membrane is linearly increased with the square of its thick-ness, as predicted by the mathematical model. However, the oxygen permeability does not increase linearly with the carrier concentration. This seems to be due to the deactivation of the carrier by dimerization at high carrier concentrations as well as the reduced chain mobility by coordination of bulky Co(salen) carrier.

  • 일반적인 Bulk carrier는 Single deck, Double bottom, Hopper side tank, Top side tank와 함께 Single side skin 또는 Double side skin으로 구성되어 Single hull bulk carrier 또는 Double hull bulk carrier라 불린다. 본 논문의 연구선박인 Double hull bulk carrier는 CSR에서 규정짓고 있는 Double hull bulk carrier의 특징 중 Hopper side tank가 없기에 일반적인 Double hull bulk carrier와는 다른 구조를 가진다. 구조적 특징으로는 Inner bottom과 Inner hull 연결부위에 응력 집중 발생, Side shell의 Shear에 대해 구조적 안전성, Double hull에 대한 CSR for bulk carrier의 Rule적용 여부에 대한 판단 등이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 Double hull bulk carrier의 구조적 특징과 구조해석을 통한 응력 집중 부위의 평가 및 Fatigue analysis을 통한 피로수명을 계산하여 이를 통해 구조의 안전성을 살펴보고자 한다.

  • In this paper, we have proposed a carrier recovery algorithm of OFDM/QPSK-DMR(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing/Quadrature Phase Shift Keying Modulation-Digital Microwave Radio)system using BL-PSF(Band Limited-Pulse Shaping Filter) and have analyzed the carrier phase MSE(Mean Square Error) performance of OFDM/QPSK and single carrier DMR systems. The existing OFDM/QPSK-DMR system using windowing requires training sequence or CP(Cyclic prefix) to synchronize a receive. carrier frequency. Because in the OFDM/QPSK-DMR system using BL-PSF there is no training sequence or CP(Cyclic Prefix), we also propose a carrier recovery useful to the system. The simulation results confirm that the proposed carrier recovery algorithm has the same carrier phase MSE(Mean Square Error) performance for the single carrier DMR system under AWGN(Additive White Gaussian Noise) environment.

  • In this paper, we have considered the performance improvement of Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA system using hybrid SC/MRC-Lc/L diversity receiving technique over multipath fading environment and compared with that of a Wideband DS-CDMA system. In the result, the PBI has caused a performance deterioration over partial bandwidth in Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA system. Also, Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA system using Hybrid SC/MRC-Lc/L diversity received can determined the complexity and the performance vs the expenses for the system that select the number of input branches.

  • ALOHA Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA systems in the multipath Rayleigh fading channel. The throughput of two systems are compared according to the length of a packet in the fast Rayleigh and the slow Rayleigh multipath fading. As a result, we have known that Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA system has less capacity than wideband DS-CDMA system in the same bandwidth, but throughput of Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA system is higher than that of wideband DS-CDMA system. And in Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA systems, higher throughput can be obtained through shortening the length of packet in the fast Rayleigh fading, and it is efficient to control the length of a packet adequately or increase the system capacity of Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA system in the slow Rayleigh fading.

  • Since a new entrant in the telecommunications market requires time in order to construct its own network, a requirement on the incumbent operator to implement carrier selection and pre-selection can enable a new entrant to immediately attract customers and earn revenue. Carrier selection can normally be accomplished in two ways, on a call-by-call basis or through carrel pre-selection. Call-by-call selection allows customers to choose a new entrant rather than the incumbent carrier using a specific code designated to the new carrier each time a call is made. Carrier Pre-Selection, on the other hand, allows customers directly connect to the network of one provider to have access automatically to another company's services when they pick up the phone to make certain types of calls. The carrier pre-selection option is generally considered to be a second regulatory step following the implementation of the call-by-call carrier selection option. Carrier pre-selection with the ability to override on a call-by-call basis for long distance, international, local, and fixed-to-mobile calls has now been implemented in many EU countries. This paper attempts to identify the issues in introducing CPS and to draw policy implications from other countries' experiences.

  • Carrier recovery, the process of recoverying the carrier in receiver, removes the phase difference between VCO and the received signal. However, the conventional structure of carrier recovery cannot be applied to multi-level QAM demodulator because of the increasing decision interval and the complexity of control as the number of symbol increases. In this paper, we suggest a new carrier recovery algorithm using $\theta-matching$ algorithm for multi-level QAM demodulation to overcome this problem and analysis the performance and implement it.

  • In this paper, we develop a symbol/frame time and carrier frequency synchronization scheme for multi-carrier signaling in wireless mobile channels. The proposed scheme achieves simultaneous time synchronization and carrier frequency offset estimation. Simulation results show that the frequency offset of multiple sub-carrier spacings can be estimated and that performance is improved with robustness regardless of the cyclic prefix length.

  • The use of erythrocyte as drug carrier has been reviewed, Carrier erythrocytes have proven to offer many advantages for delivery of therapeutic agents, especially in the treatment of inherited enzyme deficiency and cancer. Carrier erythrocytes are biodegradable and nonimmunogenic. Encapsulated drugs may be protected from premature degradation, inactivation and excretion. Carrier erythrocytes may be used as a slow-release system. Targeting of encapsulated drugs directly to a site of action is another possibility. Methods for encapsulating drugs into erythrocytes, the fate of carrier erythrocytes in vivo, the strategies of targeting carrier erythrocytes to special organs and in vivo applications of erythrocytes have been discussed. The encapsulation of drugs in erythrocytes has shown attractive possibilites in future use.

  • International maritime law conventions concerned with cargo liabilities have sought to achieve solutions which will be acceptable to a wide range of states. The Rotterdam Rules was approved by the UN Assembly on 11 December 2008. The Rotterdam Rules are intended to replace The Hague and Hamburg Rules. This paper is comparing The Rotterdam Rules with The Hague and Hamburg Rules for the carrier' liabilities and exceptions in order to find carrier' liability System, the burden of proof and exceptions in the International maritime Rules. The purpose of this paper is considering the carrier's principal recourse for defending himself inmost cargo claims. The first area analyze the transfer of carrier's fundamental Liability system in the International Rules. The second is the matter on the appointment of proof in order to establish liability or to be relieve of liability. And the third is the change of the carrier's possible exclusions from liability in the International maritime Rules. From the result of the said analysis, my paper suggests differences of the exclusions in the Rotterdam Rules comparing with the Hague and Hamburg Rules, and features of the Rotterdam Rules appling exceptions on the basis of the Hague and Hamburg Rules with regard to carrier's liability and burden of proof. The former is the inclusion of three exclusions, the deleted natural fault, and The provision making the carrier responsible for the acts of its servants or agents in the 'fire on the ship' of the Rotterdam Rules. The latter is deleting the principle of overriding obligation related to carrier's obligation of seaworthiness in the Rotterdam Rules, the burden of proof being diverted from the carrier to the carrier and the shipper in the cargo damage caused by two factors(one for which the carrier was liable and the other for which it was excusable) in the new rules.
