Purpose : The purpose of this study for the physical therapy service was to investigate the satisfaction of the parent whose child has a disability and which factors affect their satisfactions. 153 questionnaires were surveyed from parents who experienced services of physical therapy offered in 3 general hospitals, 6 disabled daycare centers and 2 welfare centers located in Jeonnam area for one month, Sep. 2009. The results of this study were as follows: 1. In the parent's satisfaction of physical therapy program, there was a significant difference in satisfaction according to their place of residence(p<.05). 2. In the child's satisfaction of physical therapy program, there was a significant difference in satisfaction according to their diagnosis time(p<.05). 3. In the general characteristics of the condition of workroom, the satisfaction of physical environment, therapist's attitude, and physical therapy program revealed the significant differences(p<0.05). In the satisfaction according to institution, only physical environment has a significance(p<.05). 4. The satisfactions were $4.17{\pm}0.67$, $3.97{\pm}0.60$ and $3.90{\pm}0.68$ for physical therapist's attitude, physical environment and physical therapy program, respectively. The overall satisfaction revealed $4.01{\pm}0.58$, relatively high.

As the computing landscape is shifting to ubiquitous computing environments, there is increasingly growing the demand for a variety of device controls that react to user's implicit activities without excessively drawing user attentions. We developed an EMG-based car interface that enables the physically handicapped to drive a car using their functioning peripheral nerves. Our method extracts electromyogram signals caused by wrist movements from four places in the user's forearm and then infers the user's intent from the signals using multi-layered neural nets. By doing so, it makes it possible for the user to control the operation of car equipments and thus to drive the car. It also allows the user to enter inputs into the embedded computer through a user interface like an instrument LCD panel. We validated the effectiveness of our method through experimental use in a car built with the EMG-based interface.

The purpose of this study was to obtain basic data for development of oral health educational program on the control of handicapped children at social welfare facilities. For this research, it was investigated by a survey on the actual condition of dental health of handicapped children, and simultaneously by analyzing the relationships between the realities of child's dental condition and parents and guardian's acknowledgments and managements with regard to the dental health of children. This survey was conducted 135 children and their guardians being 4 social welfare facilities in Ulsan metropolitan city. 1. The average of DT, MT, FT and DMFT index were 1.82, 0.01, 0.98 and 2.84 respectively. 2. Rolling Toothbrushing method was the highest response(58.5%) and 3 times per a day(77.0%). A proxy of toothbrushing was parents(39.2%) and teacher(60.8%). 3. Recognition routes of toothbrushing method were family(13.3%), school(43.7%) and dental chinic(42.2%). 4. The numer of times electromotion tooth brushing was the highest response in more than 4 times per a day. Toothbrushing after eating between meals was higher negative response(50.4%). The number of times visiting dental clinic was the highest response in more than 5 times during a year(51.9%).

This study mostly concentrates on the ease of access to the hospital for the physically handicapped and investigated the condition of facilities for disabled of 59 hospitals in Seoul. For investigation, this research developed tool based on Korean disability law. An improvement plan which will deal with the safety and accessibility for the physically handicapped and for patients are as follows. 1) Safe passage should be designed continuously from entrance to the parking lot. 2) Obstacles on the safe passage should be removed and widen the pathways.

Background: The purpose of this study show the degree of physical therapy service and physical therapist according to medical institution by measuring and determining the factor affecting patient satisfaction in the Gimcheon city. Methods: For this study 100 questionnaires were distributed to medical institution, Gimcheon city from Jul 20 to Aug 5, 2008. The consisted of total 28 items. The contents item divided the general characteristics into nine heads, the satisfaction of physical therapy service into nine heads, and the physical therapy into ten heads. Survey data were collected by a written questionnaire. The collected date were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA. Results: There was difference with statistic value in physical therapy according to medical security and handicapped or non-handicapped(p<.05). There was difference with statistic value in physical therapy service and physical therapist according to medical institution. The score of patient satisfaction at welfare facilities was significantly lesser than other medical institution(p<.05). Conclusion: There was difference with statistic value in physical therapy service and physical therapist according to a number of patients of physical therapy a day.

Web is becoming a necessary element of information acquisition methods for us who live in an information and knowledge-oriented society, as it is today. It is deriving a revolutionary change on various parts of our society, such as education, culture, etc. Also due to epoch-making development and diversification of web-related technologies and content types, the knowledge, technique and complexity of web users also accompanied it. In this research web-related education of schools for the visually handicapped and current situation of web access of such students are seized, their problems related to web access are analyzed, and efficient alternatives for web implementation to solve those problems were suggested. On the other hand, since this research is a survey targeting information and computer related teachers of 12 schools for the visually handicapped within Korea, it has the restriction that it does not include the analysis of current state of charity facilities which are not regular education institutions. Moreover, the content of the survey is composed by considering totally blind students, thus more detailed survey should also be conducted for weak-sighted students as well.

The purpose of this investigation was to make a comprohensive study and evaluation of the oral health of a group of orthopedically handicapped children by considering the DMF rate, occlusion, and oral hygiene status of 194 orthopedic children. The obtained results were as follows. 1. The DMF rate of over all examined children was 59.85%, and when the four orthopedic groups were compared among themselves, it was found that Cerebral Palsy group had a significant higher DMF rate than that occuring in any of the remaining groups. 2. Total prevalence of malocclusion was 50. 10%, and it was found that Cerebral Palsied children had a significantly higher incidence of malocclusion ($67.90{\pm}4.12$), and that Cerebral Palsy group showed a significantly different distribution of higher percentage of Class II occlusions from that observed in the remaining groups. 3. In dental plaque index, Average plaque index per tooth was 2.09. Plaque index of each group was as follows A) Cerebral palsy: 2.35 B) Poliomyelitis: 2.24 C) Tb Group: 1.65 D) miscellaneous Group: 1.72.

This thesis analyzed the uniqueness of a toilet plane structure, centering on a case of Beautiful Public Toilet Construction Project under a project by Chungcheongnam-do and drew a conclusion as followings. Most of public toilets, constructed under a project by Chungcheongnam-do, were located in remains, tourist resorts, parks, and the outskirts of traditional markets. They were constructed at the selected location within an easy access of most user and plane structure was also designed so that the persons, in charge of management and maintenance, and the users could use them without difficulty. But some public toilets didn't establish the handicaps' toilet or made them difficult to sue due to location or size. The plane structure style was various such as a rectangular, stream line, or circle in accordance with location or building size. A circle-styled toilet offered a good view but didn't offer a good access or an effective space for users. In addition, when a handicapped person enters a toilet, he or she has to enter or go out of it through a sliding dor. So a constructor has to make progress of a work in accordance with this point.

The purpose of this study was to identify ways in which to improve assistance of reading culture promotion for reading disables in Busan Metropolitan City. The research conducted a survey on reading culture promotion works which were conducted through related public institutions, private organizations and facilities for disadvantaged class, including public libraries. This study analyzed the situations in Busan. The Results indicated promotional strategies are needed in reading culture for the handicapped. This study suggest ways in which to improve assistance through analytical research which are models of mutual cooperation for reading culture promotion in Busan.

Recently, many electronic system with various character input systems for information representation and delivery. Character input systems for the Korean language are keyboards and mobile phone that have 12 or more input buttons and so on. But these input systems give difficulties for the disabled because the input system have 12 and more small input buttons. In this paper, we developed Korean language input software in order to develop a Korean language input system for the handicapped. The developed system have 5 input buttons and 2 function buttons for Korean language typing using Korean language shape input scheme. This system is not only easy to use by the handicapped, but also simple for children and foreigner to learn Korean language.
