  • Safety improvement has been a continuous challenge, especially at toll gate of express highway where traffic conflict often occurs due to frequent lane change by drivers of "Hi-pass" lane and regular "TCS" lane. As a part of research on safety at toll gate, this study videotaped traffic conflict data between vehicles using centrally located "Hi-pass" lane and regular "TCS" lane and analyzed accident risk. According to the correlation analysis of vehicle speed, relative vehicle speed, and sudden vehicle deceleration rate due to traffic conflict, when the relative vehicle speed between centrally located "Hi-pass" lane and regular "TCS" lane increases, sudden vehicle deceleration rate also increases. One of the findings is that centrally located "Hi-pass" lane at toll gate shows different location for traffic conflict, and frequency of traffic conflict and the relative vehicle speed was also different based on vehicle lane use. TA (Time to Accident) analysis shows that accident rate is high at toll gate where Hipass lane is installed in center lane, when the occurrence of sudden vehicle deceleration and deceleration time of vehicles rise for vehicles on "Hi-pass" lane. Furthermore, if the expressway entrance/exit point is closely located to toll gate, TA showed a low value. Thus, it is necessary to reduce the relative vehicle speed in order to improve safety. The Study presents reduction of the relevant vehicular speed and prevention of accidents at the centrally installed "Hi-pass" lane as an important strategy for safety improvement at toll gate.

  • In the previous researches for storm sewer design, the flow path, pipe diameter and pipe slope were determined to minimize the construction cost. But in the sewer networks, the flows can be changed according to flow path. The current optimal sewer layout models have been focussed on satisfying the design inflow for sewer designs, whereas the models did not consider the occurrences of urban inundation from excessive rainfall events. However, in this research, the sewer networks are determined considering the superposition effect to reduce the inundation risk by controlling and distributing the inflows in sewer pipes. Then, urban inundation can be reduced for excessive rainfall events. An Optimal Sewer Layout Model (OSLM) was developed to control and distribute the inflows in sewer networks and reduce urban inundation. The OSLM uses GA (Genetic Algorithm) to solve the optimal problem for sewer network design and SWMM (Storm Water Management Model) to hydraulic analysis. This model was applied to Hagye basin with 44 ha. As the applied results, in the optimal sewer network, the peak outflow at outlet was reduced to 7.1% for the design rainfall event with 30 minutes rainfall duration versus that of current sewer network, and the inundation occurrence was reduced to 24.2% for the rainfall event with 20 years frequency and 1 hour duration.

  • Localized heavy storm is one of the major causes of flood damage in urban regions. According to the recent disaster statistics in South Korea, the frequency of urban flood is increasing more frequently, and the scale is also increasing. However, localized heavy storm is difficult to predict, making it difficult for local government officials to deal with floods. This study aims to construct a Flood risk matrix (FRM) using ensemble weather prediction data and to assess its applicability as a means of reducing damage by securing time for such urban flood response. The FRM is a two-dimensional matrix of potential impacts (X-axis) representing flood risk and likelihood (Y-axis) representing the occurrence probability of dangerous weather events. To this end, a regional FRM was constructed using historical flood damage records and probability precipitation data for basic municipality in Busan and Daegu. Applicability of the regional FRMs was assessed by applying the LENS data of the Korea Meteorological Administration on past heavy rain events. As a result, it was analyzed that the flood risk could be predicted up to 3 days ago, and it would be helpful to reduce the damage by securing the flood response time in practice.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the chemical properties of rainwater in the Suwon area. Rainwater was collected from April to October in 1999 and 2000, and its chemical composition was analyzed. The pH of rainwater in April was higher than that of the months after June. Occurrence frequency of rain above pH 5.6 was 45.1%, which showed the highest ratio from rainwater samples during the investigation periods. Those of pH 5.0∼5.6 and 4.5∼4.9 range were 31.4 and 19.6%, respectively. The major cations in rainwater were $Ca^{2+}$ and N $H_{4}$$^{+}$, and S $O_{4}$$^{2-}$ made up more than 50% of total anion composition. Monthly variation of neutralization capacity of rainwater acidity by $Ca^{2+}$ and N $H_{4}$$^{+}$ decreased during the rainy season. The ratio of non-sea salt sulfate to nitrate (nss-S $O_{4}$$^{2-}$/N $O_{3}$$^{[-10]}$ ) was 2.1, which means anthropogenic S $O_{4}$$^{2-}$ contributed to acidity of rainwater two times more than N $O_{3}$$^{[-10]}$ . .

  • Purpose: According to the recent occurrence statistics of ground accidents, ground subsidence and subsidence have become social problems as the frequency has increased centering around the downtown areas. This study tried to clarify risk of detailed factors which have an effect on subsidence. Method: For the study, detailed risk factors of 28 foundations were mainly drawn through the materials, precedent studies, and research reports shown by analyzing JIS' accident cases from 2016 to September 6, 2022 and by taking advice from an excavation expert. And risk was assessed by conducting a survey on 12 subsidence experts from the universities, research institutes, and industries and applying Fuzzy-FMEA to it. Result: It has found that damage of sewer pipes is 24.99% of overall risk, followed by excavation work (17.34%), water pipes (14.84%), and poor compaction (refill) (13.93%). And it has found that risk of damaging utilities (water pipes, sewer pipes, and other utilities) is highest, followed by poor construction works (excavation work, damage of sewer and water pipes, and other utility work) and poor compaction (refill). Conclusion: This shows that risk of subsidence factors judged by experts is similar with JIS' cases of ground subsidence.

  • The Gubong gold-silver deposits if gold-silver-bearing hydrothermal massive quartz veins which were filled the fractures along fault shear (NE, NW) zones within Precambrian banded or granitic gneiss of Gyeonggi massif. Ore mineralization of this deposits is contained within a single stage of quartz vein which was formed by multiple episodes of fracturing and healing. Ore minerals are comported mainly of arsenopyrite, pyrite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, galena with minor amounts of pyrrhotite, marcasite and electrum. The frequency and volume percentages of electrum associated with ore minerals from this deposits are recognized as follows; 44.5% and 54.3% with arsenopyrite, 24.3% and 33.8% with quartz, 12.6% and 0.1% with pyrite, 11.0% and 4.8% with galena, 5.0% and 7.0% with sphalerite and 2.5% and 0.02% with chalcopyrite, respectively. They show irregular (41.6%), subround (34.7%), elongate (17.0%) and granular (6.6%) shapes, respectively. Their grain size ranges from 2 to 150 um, but 90.9 percent of the grains are below 30 um. The chemical composition of electrums ranges from 26.39 to 72.51 Au atomic %. These composition (Au atomic %) on the basis of associated minerals are from 44.97 to 71.75 with arsenopyrite, pyrite, sphalerite and quartz, from 44.37 to 72.51 with quartz, from 35.40 to 41.01 with sphalerite and chalcopyrite, from 26.39 to 54.84 with pyrite, chalcopyrite, quartz and galena, from 28.49 to 53.28 with galena, respectively. We suggest that optimum recovery of gold would be obtained with reference to these results.

  • Recently actual rainfall pattern is decreasing rainy days and increasing in rainfall intensity and the frequency of flood occurrence is also increased. To consider recent situation, Engineers use deterministic methods like a PMP(Probable Maximum Precipitation). If design storm wouldn't occur, increasing of design criteria is extravagant. In addition, the biggest structure cause trouble with residents and environmental problem. And then it is necessary to study considering probability of rainfall parameter in each sub-basin for design of water structure. In this study, stochastic rainfall patterns are generated by using log-ratio method, Johnson system and multivariate Monte Carlo simulation. Using the stochastic rainfall patterns, hydrological analysis, hydraulic analysis and 2nd flooding analysis were performed based on GIS for their applicability. The results of simulations are similar to the actual damage area so the methodology of this study should be used about making a flood risk map or regidental shunting rout map against the region.

  • This paper identifies core research topics and their relationships by deriving the research topic networks in the technology management field using co-word analysis. Contrary to the conventional approach in which undirected networks are constructed based on normalized co-occurrence frequency, this study analyzes directed networks of keywords by employing the confidence index of association rule mining for pairs of keywords. Author keywords included in 2,456 articles published in nine international journals of technology management in 2011~2014 are extracted and categorized into three types: THEME, METHOD, and FIELD. One-mode networks for each type of keywords are constructed to identify core research keywords and their interrelationships with each type. We then derive the two-mode networks composed of different two types of keywords, THEME-METHOD and THEME-FIELD, to explore which methods or fields are frequently employed or studied for each theme. The findings of this study are expected to be fruitfully referred for researchers in the field of technology management to grasp research trends and set the future research directions.
