  • If empty containers from multiple shipping liners are mixed together in the same bay, then the space utilization increases; however, the expected number of re-handles also increases. Formulas for estimating the expected number of re-handles are derived for various storage strategies and two types of handling equipment. The expected number of re-handles is compared, through numerical experiments, among those cases. The results of the numerical experiments are used to analyze the change in the number of expected re-handles according to the change in the retrieval ratio and repair ratio. The impacts of the change in the bay size and the distribution of the storage and retrieval ratio of containers among multiple vessel liners on the expected number of re-handles are analyzed. It is necessary to study efficient operational strategies considering the expected number of re-handles for empty containers.

  • Busan Port is operated separately by a number of terminal operators, resulting in a large number of ITT (Inter-Terminal Transportation) volumes. The occurrence of ITT volume causes various problems such as additional transportation cost, empty truck trips, truck delays and terminal congestion, weakening Busan Port's competitiveness. Among them, the empty truck trip problem is a representative factor, that exacerbates the cost problem of the ITT operation at Busan Port. But the ITT backhaul rate at Busan Port remains low. To strengthen the transhipment competitiveness of Busan Port, it is necessary to increase the ITT backhaul rate. In this paper, to improve ITT backhaul rate, we present a mathematical model for maximizing backhaul transport using buffer space. And we analyzed the improving effects of backhaul transport using buffer space through experiments based on actual operating data.

  • The purpose of this paper is to introduce the notion of Fermatean fuzzy topological space by motivating from the notion of intuitionistic fuzzy topological space, and define Fermatean fuzzy continuity of a function defined between Fermatean fuzzy topological spaces. For this purpose, we define the notions of image and the pre-image of a Fermatean fuzzy subset with respect to a function and we investigate some basic properties of these notions. We also construct the coarsest Fermatean fuzzy topology on a non-empty set X which makes a given function f from X into Y a Fermatean fuzzy continuous where Y is a Fermatean fuzzy topological space. Finally, we introduce the concept of Fermatean fuzzy points and study some types of separation axioms in Fermatean fuzzy topological space.

  • "Anmadang" of traditional Korean house is an empty space, surrounded by buildings shaped like the letter, ‘ㅁ’.‘ㅁ’shaped traditional Korean house provides much more comfortable outdoor space for various activities than ‘ㅡ’shaped traditional Korean house. In this paper it has been tried to analyse the dry bulb temperature condition of indoor and outdoor space through measurement of dry bulb temperature in Anmadang, Maru and outdoor space. This paper also analyses the correlation of dry bulb temperature between Anmadang and outdoor space with seasonal variations in traditional Korean houses.

  • The decline in urban center, changes in the population structure, economic slump and etc. have caused empty or deserted houses in the city. The government recognizes the houses as the reason for the accelerated formation of local slum, and as the negative element threatening the residential environment, urban landscape, social stability and others. This research aims at investigating the spatial distribution of empty or deserted houses in Gwangju metro city, identifying hotspots and classifying those hotspot according to the socioeconomic indicators as well as physical ones, and examining their characteristics and problems in the urban space. The results of this study are as follows. First of all, there is a positive spatial autocorrelation in the spatial distribution of empty and deserted houses in Gwangju metro city. Second, several hotspots are identified mainly around the old CBD area showing a sign of urban decline. Third, the indicators of urban decline were visualized using triangulation charts, and hotspots of empty(deserted) houses are classified so that the classification could serve for effective urban regeneration policy making tailored for each region.

  • Indoor space becomes limited by each factor engirdling and defining infinite empty space. Those factors appear as physical ones called wall, floor, and ceiling, and earn existential value as a living space by placing furniture in the space organized in this way. However, it is not easy to find a clear harmony between the space and furniture. Since long ago, a great deal of effort has been put into creating a relational harmony between the space and furniture. This study is to be unfolded by assuming that spatial furniture comes amid these efforts. Namely, furniture does not exist as a separate entity in a space but interacts with the construction; thus, furniture is immersed into construction or construction becomes furniture, which demonstrates that furniture is on the continuum of the composition of the space. This study looks into the characteristics of spatial furniture in contemporary indoor space through relevant cases, and prepares the ground for a creative interpretation of Indoor space.

  • The affection-image is the close-up of the face with real connections in space-time, or with virtual conjunction, outside spatio-temporal co-ordinates. The close-up can carry its own space-time in background. with deframing and fragmentation, Space itself has left behind its own space-time connection and become any-space-whatever that is the affection-image. The elements of any-space-whatever are the shadows, lyrical abstraction, the colors, the disconnected parts, the empty space. Deleuze examines any-space-whatever through the close ups, fragmentation of space and de-framing in Dreyer and Bresson's cinema.

  • The purpose of this study is to shed light on the field dynamics of 'lived space' in the light of our intuitive experiential contents by way of investigating three properties of space. While finding inspirations in the field theory of modern physics, investigation of our intuitive responses to the physical and spatial environment leads us to a coherent view of matter and space. We find then that our lived world is more than a system of inert matter; it is a dynamic environment of life in which feeling and mood, spiritual meaning and value, are perpetually infused with matter. Any concept of space, if it is to be meaningful to lift has to somehow acknowledge this fact. Empty space and matter cannot be conceived as mutually exclusive and independent as in classical physics. Rather they should be seen as two different manifestations of an underlying dynamism which permeates the world. The 'properties' of space can only be understood in terms of the 'impact' of material presence. The object cannot be seen as an isolated entity, but the 'conditioning' of its surrounding space has to be understood as an integral part of its being. Lived space can thus be viewed as an emotionally charged field, or a field of emotional energy, whose properties may be described in terms of concentration, mobility and resonance.

  • This paper considers chronologically the discourse of space as one of key concepts in geography, and then argues that geography education ought to be the critical pedagogy of space. Recent social science including geography and education has more empathized the sociality and spatiality of space than the physicality of space, and argues that space is constructed socially. Thus, it has been considered that space is no longer empty container to be filled with social relationships, but is concerned with the production and reproduction of social relationships through political struggles with diverse meanings. Now, geography education has to examine the different ways which space has been conceptualized, and develop geography education as critical pedagogy of space that focuses on reading the multiple and contested nature of space.

  • With the recent development of the 4th Industrial Revolution, efforts have been made to carry out communication in a smart factory, farm, etc. at low cost and reliably. Methods for utilizing empty frequencies using TVWS(TV White Space) have been studied which can be used locally within 30 km. However, there have not been many studies on Path-Loss model considering Korean environment. In this paper, the Path-Loss model is divided into LOS (Line Of Sight) and NLOS (None LOS). In case of LOS model, we checked the difference between Free space model, Friis model, 2-ray model and Hata model with measured data. In the case of NLOS model, we checked the difference between Lee Model, ITU-R526-3 Model with measured data. In order to overcome the difference in Korean environment, we derived a model that can be applied in LOS and NLOS and prove its usefulness through performance evaluation through simulation.
