The Visualization of films for the stand on narrative of Germanic Mythology -Focused on "The Road of the Ring", "Harry Potter", and "The Chronicles Of Narnia"- (게르만신화의 서사구조를 바탕으로 한 영화의 시각화 -반지의 제왕, 해리포터, 나니아 연대기를 중심으로-)

  • The digital contents industry already heads toward the OSMU(One Source Multi Use) method of media. In case the success of the original novel recreates to a movie, the success of a movie is again noticed with the original novel. For this reason, a novel and movie are open at the same time, In this paper, we analyze through the case study of three fantasy films having the narrative structure of the germane myth : The Lord of The Rings, Harry Potter, The Chronicles Of Narnia based on the analysis basis : Hero's Journey 12 steps by J. Campbell, The analysis of scenes of each film visualizing the narrative structure of a novel can be used as the basic materials in the process of visualizing the scale of the original and message of a writer, we consequently believe that these analysis will be able to be applied the appropriate visual techniques (the special effect, the scene tractions, and etc.)in visualization of films.

  • The development of computer hardware equipments and computer graphics technique has taken lots of changes in a movie production of VFX (visual effects) part. Particularly, through the developing of various computers graphic techniques to create imaginary creatures in a movie as high resolution like a real, weight and percentage of creature's appearance in a film is increasingly higher than past year. Creatures play an important role in a various movies such as monster films 'D War' and 'The Host', as well as fantasy films 'Harry Potter', 'The Chronicles of Narnia' and "The Lord of the Rings". The fact that authorized movie sites and organizations rank monsters in diverse processes is to show it. Nevertheless significance and priority of creatures are increased day by day, there are rare to see a basic research about classification and materiality of creatures. In this study, it is organizing materiality of creatures and designing realistic and convincing creatures to help efficient visualization from now on.

Suggestions for Integrating Foreign Language Teaching with Culture Education (외국어 교육과 문화 교육 통합을 위한 제언)

  • The paper is about teaching culture in a language learning. There are many teachers who are afraid of teaching foreign language with culture. They are delighted to teach politics, economics, history, art and literature as objective culture. But they are hesitant to teach subjective culture which is connected with a communication competency. The paper suggests three stages to instruct culture in a schoolroom. The first stage, it is growing out of the self-centered view. The second step, be developing self-consciousness through comparing mother culture with target culture. The last stage, it has to response to appropriately target culture. The teaching materials for the model suggested are two movies. Because the cultural aspects in the moves are subjective culture, so it has something in common with target cultural situations in a language learning. This method which is teaching culture in a the language learning has the advantage of being easy to teachers and learners. Most students like to watch a movie. The teaching material is The Chronicles of Narnia : The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe와 Guess Who?. I hope that this suggestion for cultural teaching is helpful for understanding each other.
